Welcome to the Forums, enjoy your stay. And as always have fun. Ultralisk don't seem to be the most likely of candidates to make it into SC2 I'm afraid. Everything must change at some point or another. :)

Hydralisk. Its the most versatile unit. And lurkers too. Lurkers slaughter M&M rushes easily!

I am very fond of Lurkers. They are a classic Zerg unit, and the only one that is useful and invisible (burrowed) at the same time for the Zerg. (for my limited skills and I, anyway)

Keeping in the game would make me very happy, even though I don't play Zerg all that much and they are very annoying when used against you. ::)

Alright, I'll name my return wishlist in order of favs to not:

1. Hydralisk (it wouldn't be zerg without them)
2. Ultralisk (I actually really like the design and feel of this unit, I just think it needed some upgrades/better specs to be made more useful)
3. Defilers (this unit also seems to get a bad rap but I thought it was one of the best units ever. Between dark swarm and plague I basically felt like a cheap demi-god, especially on a money map.

Hydralisks definetely needs to be back. They are like a symbol for the Zergs and the World of Starcraft also. It wouldn't make sense to not have Hydralisks in the Starcraft universe. I really can't wait to see what the Hydralisks is going to look like in the SC2 engine.

i want to see hydras back, possibly the coolest unit it sc. What i DON'T want to see are devourers wtf were those? Useless AND ugly, like big floating caves.

(btw i love how sometimes because of the 2d graphics in sc1, you really couldn't tell wth the units were doing on screen, like when the hydras randomly spreads its spine glands it looks like its smiling, )

yeah the devourer were the ultimate anti-air unit for starcraft id say.. sigh if it only were alil bit affordable.. but a 2 dozen of these babies is enough to render an entire air fleet incapable!!! + add them with mutas for combo...

I personally don't think that's going to happen unless they really change the unit. I don't think that the Queen was very well liked and better abilities or another spell caster will most likely be introduced.
I could of course be wrong, but IMO I don't think she'll make the cut.

I like the idea of the queen - zerg units with abilitys. But it need some mayor changes to fit in into sc2 becouse as said it wasent very mutch used in the first game. I´m also hoping for lurks with not to many changes. One of the most funny units to go forward with becouse they need attention.

shes basically the foundation of most of the zerg units we've encountered with.. ive read about the thread on how the zerg originated and how they assimilate and evolve...

its just not likely for the zerg to not have a queen.. unless the queen now evolved into something much functional ^_^

but anyway theres a 50% chance you're correct coz now that banelings are around who'd need to wait for a command center to get burn just to get those infested terrans right?? but basically its still upto the designers lol

oh.. and my answer to the poll..

we have already witnessed the protoss and the terran and from what ive seen, each of them managed to retain atleast 7 of their former units in SC1 so that means that we might see 7 revived units for zerg.. i think they will be..

-drone (coz hes the worker dude)
-zergling (already there)
-overlord (unless they turn zerg food into a stucture ^_^)
-hydralisk (a hint on the wallpapers right?)
-mutalisk (up and about)
-ultralisk (now why would the big "lisk" wouldnt be here since the other lisks are present)
-queen/scourge (its basically a debate on what to retain between these two, but im most definite to see
the queens' return or perhaps her higher evolved form,,

Again it was my opinion, but the queen is not as essential as you may believe. The two units she can help create are broodlings (which die in like 1-2 minutes) and infested terrans (which are useless if you're not playing a terran and are really hard to create). She doesn't actually do anything about creating the others in the actual gameplay. Therefore she can be sacrificed quite easily and another caster can take her place. I also hope that the infested terrans will move to the hatchery so you can use them in battles even when there is not a terran player in the game.

Hydralisks will definitely be in it is a great ground unit and one of the most effective unit when making masses of them
The Defiliers
The Guardians
The Devourers (i thought they were cool but they need to be improved with faster attack power)
The Lurkers (i thought they were cool but they die SO easily so they should have more hp from Brood War)
The Queen
Something to replace the Ultralisks
Scourges (they are so damn useful if you are being attacked by Carriers, Bc, Guardians etc)

and that's about it really :)

The hydralisk and mutalisk are both almost guarenteed to return. Guardians and Devourers as an evolution for the mutas will probs also be present. I would however like to see more variation in the air units that the zerg have as mutalisks are incredibly weak. And i know they are much cheaper than other air units but i would like to see a more powerful, expensive air unit.

The lings will be back for certain and we can only hope that the lurkers return. Maybe another evolution of the hydralisk but for air?

Well the hydralisk itself is a fantastic aa unit, but the basic zerg forces are the ones I want back the most. Lings, hydras and muties, which are all pretty much guaranteed. But I also hope the zerg don't lose a great unit like the defiler with its superb support. If the defiler leaves, (or evolves) I hope theres something very much like it with most of its old abilities.

I really tried using the defiler. I just think its a terrible unit in that it doesnt have enough energy for a "spellcaster" unit. You pretty much have to spend quite a decent amount of resources on this one unit, with the ability to cast 1 spell then retreating and being useless.

Im not a zerg player but i have to vote for the defiler because its a great unit (annoys my ass when facing it though :D) and the zerg players will need it because they are going to be owned badly in sc2 mwahahahaha

your joking right? i find that as one of the best spell casters becasue it can regen it's energy so quick with consume.

Hasnt got me convinced yet. I still think there is more useful units in the zergs army who are worth spending more money on. Like gettin a couple of hydras is probs better spending saving up those few extra minerals

Yeah exactly thx string_me_along . that spell was really anoying and powerful. Would be a great loss to the zerg if they didnt keep it. Well Defiler and Hydralisk is a must keep for the zerg race.

/\ I put this in another thread, but one of the most powerful combos with two races is plague from defiler (zerg) and then an ally (terran) with EMP from the Sci Vessel. All of my powerful expensive units just went bye bye.

nope. Plague put my units down to about 1 HP each... then EMP took away their shields. They had no health... at all. And the marines they sent in pretty much destroyed most of what I had before I realized... oh crap! My units don't have any shields or health. There wasn't so much a retreat as much as there was a full scale rout.
