You can give powerups once you reach 40 posts then a blue up arrow and red down arrow will appear below every members avatar. Just click on one to rais or lower the power level respectively

You can buy a pet from the forum shop (http://www.starcraft2forum.org/forums/index.php?action=shop;do=buy). You get minerals for each post you make and can also win them by scoring 3rd or above in an arcade game or winning a competition.
