3. Zealot (paladin) Zeal + charge + fanatism. Not as powerful as the above, but great PVP and vs Boss. Very fun.
4. Bowazon The least I played, , but very fun to play.

kk first of all, If you play pvm, you don't play diablo 2 corectly..

now time to list some gg builds:

The one i'm the best with is probably the 200fcr 142fhr pure vita non-es sorc..

but theres also the 105fcr version of it..

and the 105fcr 142fhr pure vita es with 70/15's

on useast I also had:

max fcr hdin
gg v/t
max block 105fcr 86fhr light sorc (great to pwn babas)
gg leaper with lvl55 bo


These are my favorites.. but there are so many other good builds.

I played a bit on d2pk.. and then I gave everything to my friend.. he now plays on d2pk with over 15 fully geared gg chars.. I'm still his coach for some builds.. I was pretty gg with all the small details.

I play Battle.net on a private-ish server from Romania. It's always got a lot of players, the game is booming on that server, so it's really fun.

The Hammerdin, Cold Sorc, Javazon, Bowazon, Kicksin and Light Sorc are the most overused builds I have ever seen. I vowed never to make one when I saw just how many there were. I've only really truly dedicated myself to three builds: a max block Bone Necro, a C/C WW Sin and (my favorite ;D) a Rabies/Fury Wolf. The Sin and Wolf were really not so good PvM, but PvP they were the most fun I ever had out of the game. The Necro was pretty good at PvM, and also very good at PvP; he had no serious contender (I hated that!) so I didn't play him that often, and I took off various pieces of armor sometimes to make it more interesting ;D.

let me list some good items on a sorc...

Armageddon Fletch Amulet
Soj and/or rare rings with 10fcr, life, mana, str, etc.. (other good mods would be dex, resists.. you get the idea)
Rare circlet with: 2sorcs 20fcr, str, life, mana, resists. etc.. or.. you could use griffon.. or even shako. or a magic XXX circlet of the magnus, where "XXX" is the prefix that gives +3 to ur element (ex: volcanic for +3 all fire skills) and with 2 sockets.. of course!
weapon: something like these: Hoto, rare orb with stats a bit like the circlet i named, wizzspike if you need the fcr.. (but this one is a bit gay) eschuta or fathom... there are so many good choices.. even a spirit sword can be amazing if used corectly... but please don't use the ****ing tal set..

if you aren't going max block, your shield MUST BE SPIRIT RUNEWORD IN A MONARCH

this shield is like 1 000 x better than any other.. it's simply the best item in the game.

boots: grim spur or the super ultra elite uswest rare dupe: wraith bands.
gloves: magefist or frostburns (for es sorcs) NOTHING ELSE
belt: probably arach.. but some build could use a rare belt with fhr, str, life, etc.. OR dungo...
armor: there are many choices here.. let me tell u a few good ones..

Btal, Coh, Skin of the vipermagi, enigma or my special secret weapon (arrg I mean ARMOR): Glitched Valor (this one was made for pure vita, non-es fire sorcs)

use skin of the vipermagi only if you are going for 200fcr..
Btal and coh are pretty much the same.. but you look like a pimp with ur permed Btal..

Enigma is for the noobs who can't get str on gear and don't care about resists.. don't use enigma

did i forget something??

oh yeah.. the charms..

good anni, good torch, 8 or 9x grand charm with + 1 to ur element and life and the small charms.. probably 70/15's or 20/5's

let me tell u a bit about how to build a sorc..

stats:

you either do this:

str = none
dex = none
vita = all
energy = none

or this:

str = none
dex = none
vita = maybe 50
energy = everything else

i'm excluding the max block one here..

anyway.. if you put everything in vita you have to choices.. es with a lot of life and average mana (due to 70/15's) or just non-es pure vita.. so with 70/15's you'll get like 3000life and 4000 mana

with the "everything else in energy" you are aiming for 8000+ mana.. and about 1500 life..
with frosties and stuff on a 105fcr version.. you could get 10 000 mana..

now the skills..

it's easy.. there are some skills you can attack with.. here they are:

blizzard
frozen orb
firebolt/ball
lightning

all you do is max these and their synergies and masteries the best you can..

and add one in warmth, one in teleport

if you use energy shield... put 20 in telekinesis (yes, telekinesis) and 1 in es (not more than 1 in es)

of course there are many changes that could be done in what i said and still get a good build.. but i'm doing it in 5 minutes randomly like this.. so this isn't a guide.. (yeah i use to write guides.. my fire sorc guide was about 15 000 words)

D2 isnt dead.... far from it. Now i wasnt around playing D2 when it was popular. But its still thriving IMO. theres always a full list of games, all day, every day. But thats not the point of this thread ;D.

Back ON topic: (I Play Classic D2 by the way)
My favorite build, personally, would be a Charger Pali. Most people think "Oh, chargers are cheap, because thier attacks are too strong." lol, those are the kids who get raped by chargers every day. Lately I've gotten rather bored of D2 (Ever since the Act 5 hack came out), and the only thing that keeps my interest is my level 12 Charger pali. You wouldnt beleive that a char so easy to make would be so much fun. Pretty much i join full games of people level 20-40 with this level 12. Most people laugh it off, thinking that theyll 1-hit this stupid noob pali who just hostiled them. so they willingly go to act 1, where this pali with a pike is standing out in the blood moor... they walk out, and BAM! with 200-700 dmg charge dmg (on a level 12, thats WAYYY high), they die in a second or two. before they even have time to click on me, thier already dead, and back at the stash naked ;). Usually they go "WTF?!" others go "HACKER!" my favorite one is "NOOB!" lol but after... a year or two? of doing this... it really doesnt get old. Just when u thought youve heard the same excuses for the millionth time, theres always a kid who says something new to you lol. i just enjoy PKing random kids so that they talk crap to me just because they cant kill this little level 12 pali with a level 40 sorceress lol.

My second favorite build is a HammerDin, but I wont go into a big story about it lol. Lucky You ><

Ohh dude don't try this build @ HC because it's mostly PVP..

sorcs arent the best pvm u know.. especialy fire sorcs.. there are too many fire immunes..

oh god original D2 is just sooo.....lol! with my old maphack i went on original d2 bn once and saw lvl 60 barbs/palys walkin around wif gem-socketed weapons? how do damage-reliant characters get by with only normalclass uniques? o.O or am i missing something....

i didnt have much (since i didnt own a bot lol) but i made do in nm lvl40-60 pvps =D
45?druid - tornadoes skills. normal stuff you expect. soj + manald heal (i think) + that druid helm (eth lol) and serpent, lidless, spirit sword, some druid ammy thing, HP charms, blahblahblah
56nec - summoner tank! + clay + decrify. had about 4-5 1+ GCs and the rest HP i think, nearly identical stuff as my druid except +1 nec/charged teleport ammy! LOVED IT! ppl are like "how did you teleport? enigma?" many have fallen under my pathetic bunch of skellies! muwhahahaha ^_^ i felt so proud of what i could achieve for how poor i was lol.

but it's better than this version of the golem necro:

did you know what the fire golem splash dmgs when its spawned? the build consists of maxing the fire golem and namelock/spam the golem to deal fire dmg.. you need a ****load of mana items.. and it deals pretty much no damage...

impale zon with no ias is also a very bad idea..

lol imagine this:

zon using impale with no ias on gear and the slowest weapon possible..
now.. a sorc comes and cast frozen orb to slow her down..

the necro comes and his clay golem hits the zon...

another zon with all "slow %" on gear comes and hit the impale zon with 1 arrow..

imagine the attack speed.. it would be like.. 1 hit per 10 seconds.. funny isnt it?

a mojomancer is a necro using curse (mostly dim vision, confuse and the other one right after these 2.. i can't remember the name.. i'm not a super pro in mojomancers anyway) to help in multiplayer pvm.. I guess a more versatile version would get bone wall.. to be even more versatile you get a golem and summons and you are a summoner..

there's also the elemental mojomancer that is using procs items and infinity merc.. and the versatile and very rare variant would be the elemental summoner with skeleton mage (which synergises with infinity on merc)

wow that sucks a lot..

a raven druid would randomly put his remaining points in some crap.. and he would probably want to get a powerful cyclone armor..

chain lightning blows and lightning can deal up to about 52k

but it's between 1 dmg and 52 000 dmg.. so the average dmg is more like 26k.. and it's slow as hell.. even with a lot of fcr... it's capped at 10 frames per attack with 194fcr..

while the other spells (fire ball as an example) can go at 7 frames per attack at 200fcr..

and btw.. at 52k max dmg (26k average) ur light sorc will blow and won't be able to reach the 10 frames anyway.. you'll mostly get raped because you can hit anything (in serious pvp)

and you can get something like 29-30k dmg with fire bolt (not ball, bolt) and 8 frames per attack (105fcr)
this is still going to suck but it's much more than the 26k average dmg..

a good light sorc does like 15k AVERAGE and 30k max with lightning.. at 11 or 10 frames per attack
while a good fire sorc does about 23k average at 7 frames or a bit more (25 or 26k) at 8 frames..

i prefer the 200fcr fire sorc because of the teleport speed too..

light sorc are very gay unless you are looking for a max block sorc.. then i prefer light to fire.. but her dmg will be very low and it will only be strong against bvc..

Go Zookeepers! Nothing better than 52 minions with all of your skeletons doing 6k per hit.

And as for dueling, diablo 2 duels were some of the worst our of any game. The game was not built with dueling as a major game perk. In the end, all duels with top players were just about landing in the first hit or dying to the first hit.

I suggest you try something..

make something that 100% casts frozen orb on attack.. and dozens of other spells if you want too.. now use the sin skill that kicks like 5 times.. it spams super fast frozen orbs.. it's very lol..

I had a char that was spamming all the skills in the game everytime he attacked. it was pretty neat.

Ha, Thats nothing. With good gear, and a P Bonesnap, a 2x charger can kill a 8x sorc with no problem.. Thats called LLDing. My 12 Charger Raped a 86 sorc in Hell. It was hilarious. Some nabby 86 orb sorc with a staff. i charge locked her. Dead in 5 seconds... cake ;)

Yeah, hoz is always good. it's pretty much the best pally shield you can get.. unless you go with some very rare and cost ones..

My favorites were the were-wolf shape shift druid and barbarian. I didn't play it too heavily but I was able to get my Barbarian close to level 80 with the help of hell cows and whirlwind with lots of life leech :P.

Damn I was really fan of Diablo 2 LoD... and still am

I don't play it anymore but it still can get me excited and this thread has got me wanting to play it one before =)

I was originally Single player gamer because no good connections, after I got DSL I started play full time on B.net

I played D2 LOD mostly on 1.09 era and bit on 1.10

I got these chars:

9x Frost sorc
8x Fire sorc
8x Bowazon (my first high char and original MF workhorse before sorc)
8x and 7x Babas (GF using sword baba and Cruel lance using spear baba)
8x Bone necro (my fav)

Necros was always closest my heart, they were kinda poor on 1.09 and even begin of 1.10 on PVM and PVE and not quite popular class on B.net but I just loved concept and skills were really excotic and fun for me. Then ofc I had those Sorcs for farming Hell Meph with MF for items and 1.10 I mostly did NM Meph (faster safer)

My most favorite build/classes were;

Fire sorc (it was not so popular on 1.09 and begin of 1.10)
Frost sorc (playing Frost sorc on PVM is very smoothe and just brilliant to see mobs shattering)
Bowazon (I had bowazon using Shael Shokako (forgive me not remember to name but it was that Exceptional unique heavy X-bow)
WW Baba (It was fun but since then 99% of Babas were WW babas, and most sword, it was quite dumb ;)
Necro (any build actually, loved playing necro even it was so damn ineffective)

Just loved D2 LoD... specially on 1.09 when 'Grandfather' and 'Windforce' were god and goddess of Battle Net and they were daydream items for everyone (GOD I wanted WF to my Bowazon so damn much...) and when SoJ's where trading 'money'

1.10 things got bit more complicated and then there was that construct item chaos and cheating and I got diffrent things on RL to do, however I just LOVED how skills got synergys on 1.10 ( I thing I exploded on my pants when I saw Bone necro tree )

I really disliked playing cookie-cutter chars (Ice or TS sorcs, WW babas, Bowazons etc...)

I usually tryed to play unique styles and it was really cool for me =)

I got some strange chars...

PVP Bear spamming that shock shout (stuns and spammable but low dmg) you could lock players down and spam it them to death...christ ppl got pissed

Dual throw Baba (I know its not so unique but it was quite rare)
Frenzy Double-swing baba (kinda tricky to play...specially PVP)
Iron Maiden/Iron Golem necro...(THAT was kinda fun... even got some babas killed on PVP)
Hydra sorc (when I got pissed I just spammed hydra at town gate at PVP servers (THAT drives ppl mad)

and many many more... on 1.09 and 1.10 it was that time very cheap to boost chars to Hell cows and I got 2 full accounts of 8x chars... I pretty much tryed everything.

I wouldn't go as far as saying TS sorcs are cookie-cutter, sir you sound like a 1.09 player, am I right?
Orbers/Ts sorcs, WW barbs and Bowazons were pretty much the elite builds ruling 1.09 back then.

Personally, I do both, cookie cutting and unique build.. supposed I was public pvping.. Im having fun with the unique build and when some cheap cookie cutter find out a way to kill me (I was pretty pro) I come back with my own cookie cutter for a quick 10-0

Yeah I had that one, and you can actualy find a way to deal decent dmg with fire claw.

These are actualy very, very strong.. you can easily clear a pubby pvp game with those.. after a few slashes you hit so hard and fast that you will totally rape everything.

Hydra sorc (when I got pissed I just spammed  hydra at town gate at PVP servers (THAT drives ppl mad) If you make a fire sorc without ES, you can actualy max hydra and both its synergies and fire mastery, getting a cookie cutter AND hydra sorc at the same time. Yes, It's possible. and talking of hydra.. in 1.09 I had a kuko ranger hydra sorc.. try to beat that in uniqueness, it was so friggen sexy with the immolation arrows and hydra.. hehe with enchant too.

Yeah 1.09.. that's what I thought :) when someone doesn't mention "hdin" when he talks about cookie cutter, he's a 1.09 player.. Dude remember how bone spirit sucked in 1.09? my 1.09 necro was kicking ass with it.. totally.

you don't seem to know much about 1.10 and over.. have you tried some new possible builds such as auradin (a bit cookie cutter but very lol)..

also, have you tried these:

aura zeal sorc dealing 100k zeal dmg (yes I'm serious)
Leaper (OMG MY FAVORITE!)
pure mind blast sin (insane stun)
Shaman Druid (volcano, bear summon, fissure)
Pure fissure druid with all facets on gear are pretty nice.. with infinity merc you can pwn ww barbs with 10k life in 2 fissures.. and u can tg pubbies with it.. pretty fun too.

Generally Bone necros were considered quite a bad idea for PVP purposes, but when you actually killed ppl with it succesfully it felt DAMN good =)

Indeed Bone spirit was quite ineffective for PVP at 1.09 but with good gear and cleverly using its homing system you could deliver massive amounts of Burst dmg and kill ppl off nicely... It was tricky but quite rewarding playstyle.

I made PVP necro what was quite suprisingly effective vs melee classes on PVP, I used Bone Wall/ Iron maiden synergy system and let me tell you that it was quite kick ass... WW babas, specially noob ones, often use WW at max range, they travel max amount always with WW and they dont really control it so well... anyway when baba activates WW and starts coming to yourway you just hit Bone wall/Bone brison between him and hit Iron maiden to Baba... BANG :thumbup: one more baba corpse =) ( I used this build mostly at 1.10)

Bone/IM build was very effective also vs Feral bite wolfs, melee assassins, Fana/Zeal palas and other melee variants who lacked teleport mechanic or were simply too reckless. (If player refused to hit bone walll/prison I could spam them with Bone spear with impunity.

You mentioned shaman druids, using elemental variations. Yeah I was also quite intressed about elemental druids but however they were just *awful* at 1.09 era and 1.10 they were starting to work out but I didn't have shaman druids at 1.10... one typical feral bite wolf with Hellslayer (yes one of 1 000 000 hellslayer feral biters)

Btw did you ever tryed Poison jawazon? If you builded up poison/plague spear synergies you could got some ridicilous dmg poisons with it... I had LF jawazon with eth 194% titans and 3x +1 javelin skill charms and dual SoJ's and matriarch shield and I invested some points on poisons at late 8x on 1.10 and even when my plague was around 20 it *did* make some really nice dmg... did you ever made serious plague jawazon at PVP or even PVE?

Heh it's just too much time when I played...can't remember all details... I wonder if my account still excists ^_^
