How old are you? and since when did you start playing starcraft?

im just wondering how old are you guys. coz im old and i think i already past my prime at playing starcraft. i hope starcraft 2 will change that. im 22, and i started playing it since i was 15. i was good back then (the best in my HS days) but i never tested my skills on battle.net. i just got my dsl internet connection a couple of months back and i was shocked that battlenet requires cdkey. i dont have one. all my starcraft cd were fake, the recent was downloaded via the internet. they dont sell starcraft original cd here in my country anymore and i am a novice on online shoppin :( are there hack cd key on the internet? blizzard is so strict i think thats impossible. anyone? help me. we are all starcraft worshipers after all.

Here in the Philippines, StarCraft was the hype way back 1998, I was on 2nd Grade back then. My cousin gave me a bootlegged copy (lol) and I started playing the missions (with cheats, rofl) and got addicted to SC. Those times, there were also popular games that I played, like Westwood's Red Alert and Dune2000. I was 8 years old back then, and we did not even have a damn internet connection. lol

Anyway, I do not really see the big deal if people are in their mid 30s or 20s, and are still playing games like Starcraft.

I have met a few 50+ men playing Counter-Strike here in our country. That was even five years ago, lol. And they could kick ass like young players.

I guess it depends on your passion to play the game. ;)

My taste in music is that of an old timer, I don't listen to a whole lot of the latest stuff. I listen to a lot of songs from 10~20 years ago.

Even my own friends, almost none of them share my taste in music. A lot of times when they get in my car, they get surprised by the stuff they hear, then they'll laugh because after a bit they start to recognize the old songs.

yeh, my prime was playing and beating only my friends who don't even have starcraft at their own home back then. i even consider that a prime. i used to practice my skills against computer enemies thats why i can easily beat most of my friends. but if i am match with a good player then 50-50 win or loss.

Once I lost 20 games of WC3 in a row. "How?" you may ask? Great skill and cunning. The first three were genuine losses due to exceptionally ****ty allies (4v4). The next 17 involved picking one unit randomly and massing it. And a random hero that died all the time. +exp for the enemy yay. Archers was a good one. Got slaughtered. Gyrocopters was just sad because one enemy went tanks... they all exploded within seconds and they laughed.

CD?? I don't think WarCraft(1) ever came out on CD. Even if it did... that would be blasphemy!! Many moons ago... I had saved up all my allowance money for months so I could buy WarCraft(1) paid 80$(CND) for it. and it came on two 3.5" diskettes (not CD) I still got the box and everything.

You must mean WarCraft2 .. I remember having to buy a (then very expensive) CD ROM drive for my computer so i could install/play it.

P.S. Kids life dont even start until 30 and some even say 40! Everything you experience now you think its all big and what have you. The relationships you form and the games you play you think are uber. In the case of Starcraft 2 it is! However, in 5 years maybe less you will probably forget most of it. If someone would have told me what life is really like I would have gone to a CHEAPER university. Trust me, FEW realtionships are worth anything until 22+

While I can relate to a lot of what you are saying, that statement in particular I believe to be situational.  I am 27 and most of my friend I have now I have met before the age of 20, sometimes way before. But most of my close friends I've known for at least 10 years, some of the closest ones even longer at around 14 years.  My longest running friend, I've known and been friends with for 20 years.  That guy in particular, we were both born in Korea, met and grew up in Taiwan, and now both live in the states.  Life sure is interesting.

But really, you really don't start to fully appreciate until you're older.  Every bit that you get older, lets you have a better view on the scope of things.  Old guys rule, imma be spanking the young'uns in SC2, ha!

I remember the DAY Starcraft came out and have enjoyed it ever since.
Gee, so do i. First game i ever played. 16 by the way, so that makes me around 6-7 years old about when it was released. Did i understand anything said in-game? Nope. Didn't stop me from playing though... in fact, much of my skillz in English (Swedish guy here) is probably derived from those early years playing SC.

started during grade 3 in 1998 it was not popular back in the day then get the brood war in 1999 then came to canada and start playing bnet and it was fun then quit during 2005 (i was 15) and switch to warcraft frozen throne for only 2 years.
