Do you think some cheat codes will return in Starcraft 2, or will others replace 'em?
Also, do you think we'll get NEW ONES? :good:
I would like one that could allow you to get more than one Mothership or allow you to build on Creep for Terrans and Protoss or for Zerg not needing to build on Creep, and for Protoss allowing you not to build in a...Psionic thingy...

Having never played anything Blizz made older than Starcraft, and most other popular games made before Starcraft, I must say that I never got the cheats' meaning at all. I still don't know why the "all your base are belong to us" cheat is so well-known, nor any of Starcraft's own cheats.

Cheats are good to have fun alone but not in multi player, they ruin it there >:(

i agree with darklizard.
They always come up with new humorous cheat codes in every game. I'm sure there will be new ones this time as well.
But I really don't see the point of having cheat codes other than for single player custom game vs comp to test things. But they can just give you a menu for this.
It kind of defeats the purpose of the campaign mode if someone uses cheat code. Why not just make them have to work their lazy ass through the whole thing, at least they get a little practice time.
Cheat codes don't work in multiplayer...

As a kid I was much better in c&c games then in starcraft. Why? I only played singleplayer when I was that old and I could cheat in starcraft, in c&c I actually had to fight. So for little kids and sore losers: no cheats :good:
There should be cheat codes. Sometimes we just want to have fun and go crazy with cheats. And this time there will be plenty of Operation CWALs ;)

there is no cow level- has its roots in diablo 1 where there was a persistent rumor that if you clicked on a cow enough it would open a portal to a secret level. This code finally put a stop to the rumors.
i think most other codes are song titles, but im not sure.
also, i think modify the phase variance was from star trek:TOS
maybe the speed cheat for building and making units for SC2 will be "Hell it's about time" :P

You've seriously never heard of AYBABTU? Wow dude.

What you see there is the actual cutscene. The first bit anyhoo.
I've seen that a long time ago, but I've never figured out what all that was about.
Did all of that start off from some really badly translated game or something??

You are correct, my friend.
Do you know which game?

'Twas the arcade version of a game called Zero Wing. The game itself was pretty much the same thing as any other top-down flyer-shooter, but the horrid Engrish made it a cultural phenomenon.

i hope blizzards will not make any cheats yet. maybe after 6 months after the released of the game. so that we will not be tempted specially on the campaigns.

I agree, sometimes the temptation of cheats are just too much, especially in the campaign.... but all the same they need to be stuck in there somewhere very sneakily... Just so I don't know them until after i've done the campaign...... Or maybe I should just be stronger-willed.
I liked how in the original SC, 'power overwhelming' was actually said by an archon...
(That song for all your base are belong to us is addictive :P)

There was this one old game (I forgot the name of), that had extremely bad English. I guess the correct way is: "All your bases belong to us." But, it was quite a famous quote for old-school gamers. I guess Blizzard wanted to throw that in.
Well, if you think about it: "All your base are belong to us" = "You're screwed."

In wc3 there was some treant named "GreedIsGood" in a map added later (skibi's tower defence i think)
Maybe there'll be more stuff like this. Wonder how many easter eggs will sc2 have...

yes its tempting. like the mission of tassadar trying to save zeratul. one of the hardest mission in the campaign. and you have three options, first you can save always specially in the late game parts, second you can cheat on the most crucial parts or during the whole mission, and lastly if you are good without cheats and saving then you can save zeratul proudly or fail the mssion and repeat it. entaro tassadar.

Cheats don't ruin the game, it's just you using them that do! Cheats aught to remain of course for their hilarious phrases and comments, why not have people try and guess what they could be? Maybe have them based on other past Blizzard works or comments hmm?
And what about having an option to disable cheats in single player, eh? So even if you do know a chat and put it in it won't work? Or maybe only enable cheats when the game is over?

Yes, sometimes cheats can be very tempting. Like when you have failed that mission fourteen times... Then the whisper of the dark side can lure you away from the light. But you have to ask yourself some questions:
* Why are you playing this game?
* Do you appreciate Blizzards hard work?
* Is this mission supposed to be challenging?
* How would you feel when you finally managed to beat that level?
Cheating is optional, not mandatory. You have to decide if you'll use them or not. Some people like the cheats. When my sisters kids wants to try some of my games I use cheats to give them resources, just to help them. They aren't trying to beat the game, they're just playing for fun...
The codes themselves can be a lot of fun as well. They can be straight forward like "hurry up guys", "pot of gold" or "unite the clans". They can be references to modern culture like "there can be only one", "IseeDeadPeople" or "ThereIsNoSpoon". They can unlock secrets like "disco", "radio free zerg" or "TenthLevelTaurenChieftain". (Yes, I know most of those are from the Warcraft series)
I think the codes should be hard to guess, but that's not stopping us, right?

i think that it should have cheats but the game only enable them after you beat single player, therefore you have to have skillz to cheat.

You don't need to have skillz on easy or normal difficulty.
