View Full Version : Re: 5) Six hundred and sixty-six days before hells awakening...
It is good but it isn't Starcraft related.

I Happen to know the guy who wrote this story in rl, and i know for a fact that it is stracraft related because the story is sett in the scene of a map he created, no im not giving out his forum name because sc2 forum admins will smack my a** down and delete me from all existance. So im just telin you that it is SC realated. And if you read the competition rules you would see that it said to create an original story and steer away from starcraft lore.
The Writing Competition
Write something that revolves around the StarCraft Universe.
Rules clearly states it.

A starcraft map is a part of starcraft which makes it a part of starcraft which makes it starcraft related.
(Yes i know that sounded stupid) but it's true.

Angels, Demons, Satan =/= Starcraft

It wasn't a tile, it was a description or something, idk i just know it's not what the title was supposed to be. (no it's not mine)

I have to concur with this one. That although it may be within the bounds of the SC universe. It does not reside within the SC universe, but within a universe developed off a map made on SC. Plus, my question to the author of this is: why did you pick this story over the many others you could have done? Please answer it after the voting ends.

If the mods decided to let it into the competition it's SC related enough, shouldn't you stop bickering and read the oter story entries?

Well, now it seems I must post my reasoning as to why I think this should be removed on the basis of that it breaks the rule of not being located within the SC Universe. My reasoning is very simple. The basis of this story is that of a map on SC. The concept for the map, which, I have never heard of might I add is a battle between two deities is what I can draw from the story.
Now, the story aside. The point is that a story based off a map in SC can essentially be anything.
The second point I would make is that the relation to SC in here is not stated clearly at all, if there even is one. I find that an archangel and the devil as it would be make no cameos in SC thus far, and I would highly doubt they ever would. It just doesn't seem to fit well within the bounds of the SCU.
I could take more points if necessary as to why this is not SC related, but I feel that as another person who writes its unneeded as the story itself is not bad, just not related to SC.

OK ppl I think we should stop trying to argue about how SC related it is. The admin of this cmopetition has decided its acceptable enough and his reasoning his far more superior then yours. So let's just judge the stories on their content, kk?
PS I voting for this SOULBOUND4LIFE

When I read this entry, I took a particular interest in it for the same reason that many other people in this thread have- it clearly wasn't Starcraft-Related. So, I asked sc2forums, the admin, who you so nicely bought up as being the ultimate decision-maker here.
You're right Blizzarro... I didn't read the entries before posting them, and If I did, I probably wouldn't have accepted that as an entry. It's too late though, guess there is no harm in leaving it in now.
So yeah. I wasn't going to mention this, but to completely honest, the way that you've been acting lately happened to change my mind. See, we have an admin who happens to have a life. Considering he put all the entries up right after the deadline, that would mean he's either the fastest reader EVER, or he just figured he would read the entries after they were up so that he could vote.
As forum-goers, he assumed that we would be mature and responsible enough to follow the miniscule guidelines that he had put forth for us. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but this, straight up, does not. It breaks the fundamental rule of the contest.
Now, look. You can twist stuff all you want. You can say that it's part of a map, so it's Starcraft-related. But what you have to realize is that society has a much more direct interpretation of what the word "related" means. For example, I'm related to my brother. Am I related to Bill, the hobo down the street? Society would say no.
But technically, I am. We're both humans. Bill has legs, I have legs, we're related concepts. But that's not how society views this.
So you can say whatever you want, but the fact of the matter is that I could put a movie script into a Starcraft map, then submit it, and call it Starcraft related. I could write a short story on the back of my Starcraft box, and call it Starcraft related. But society and convention would say otherwise.
Where does this leave us? Well, you're clearly a smart guy if you wrote something like this, and I personally will be disappointed if you let a setback like this spoil you from the forum or even from writing itself. But before you can move on to different works, which you will hopefully post here for us to see, you have to come to terms with the fact that this, although a great piece of work, simply did not fit the bill.
Now, I know you won't be too thrilled with my post. Hell, you'll probably think I'm a jerk. Do it all you want, you won't be the first to think so. But hopefully, you'll realize eventually that this was for your own betterment, and you can learn to mold yourself to fit the rules, rather than mold the rules to fit yourself.
EDIT: Note to everyone else; this doesn't actually make a difference to how you vote. Like sc2forums says, it's too late to change it now. So my above post has absolutely no influence over how you vote.

Ok first I would like to say thanks you ret- guys for telling everyone I’m the author. You go on about this story breaking the rules yet here you are breaking them yourself. Yes you’re right it probably isn’t very SC related but hey it’s in the competition now. So if you think my stories good enough for a vote then go ahead but if you think it breaks the rules too badly then vote for someone else, I don’t mind.

C'mon man, stop. :( You told everyone it was yours when you powered down Sc2forums, way before anyone else said anything.
If the media leaked classified information from the military, and I talked with my friends about it, I'm not at fault, the media is.
The bottom line is that this story is officially part of the competition, and, despite everything, I feel it still has a solid chance of placing. Let's all leave it at that, and turn this misunderstanding into old history.

Ok first if I had known so many people check SC2Forums power logs I would changed the description, and also how many people look at SC2Forums power logs, and how many look at this post? There's a big difference.
Anyway no point crying over split milk I suppose like I said b4 vote for me if you think my story is good enough to over-look it's lack of SC relativeness.

Okay, guys, let's just let it rest. You both clearly have a point, but I think we can all agree that you probably aren't going to be reaching an agreement any time soon.
Let's just move on, shall we? The matter is closed.

Its a bad story with no plot/character development/sense of the English language.
Who cares if it isn't SC related, it's a poor attempt at best anyways.
