??? Yeah this is really weird. I swear I visited the old thread an hour ago... :o

And what about Vespene Gas? ;D It'd be a good idea that for each new post you get 2 minerals, and for each new topic 2 gas. And all the really cool stuff should cost a combination of 'em. Just my 2 cents :P.

LOL!!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I think it's needlessly complicated to make things cost both, and then how would it work just regular posting?

Now, the food limit on the other hand.....

Is there any particular reason there's a 50 mineral surcharge for withdrawal? It kinda nulls the interest thing, and I don't think it's entirely fair to have to pay fifty minerals to avoid the "Theft" bonus.....

I do like the 100 minimum deposit.

Killer idea:
Give mineral bonusses for ranking up! ;D

And no one wants to buy extra forum time

On of my posts was an idea to buy a feature thay would let us play our favorit music on our profiles. But instead we all have that new feature.

I am just curious, did you get that idea from me?

I think the 50 minerals penalty from deletion due to forum rules violation is fine. You can make that back easily, unless you keep posting more stuff in violation of rules or just to make quick bucks. In that case you deserve even more severe penalties anyway.

But I think if the original poster asks a mod to delete his/her own post because of something other than a rule violation, there should either be no penalty or something small like 15 minerals.

I once typed up a rather long reply and posted.Â* But when I read over the thread I realized I misunderstood what was posted before me due to confusion from the wording.Â* I wanted to delete it ,but instead just put in an edit note saying it was meant to for deletion, when I realized I couldn't delete it myself.

Found that annoying too. Hopefull it will be an option soon.

What determines/effects the mineral bonus? Or is it just 0.1 all the time now?

It was 0.4 before when I checked before I think, and 0.3 before that... but now it's 0.1.

The remove post option was disabled for members sometime ago. Now only the admin and mods can do so.

If you really want a particular post to be removed, please modify the message to delete or remove.

But since it cost minerals. I think most of you would prefer having the post staying there :)

Gold
06-13-2007, 07:57 AM
why is that?
is it to stop people posting offesive stuff, getting a bad reaction then deleting there posts or something

mc2

^ Apart from what you've mentioned. Deleting posts whenever members want might lead the topic to have imcomplete discussion. This can confuse readers. Also when other members quoted you, the post need to stay

heres something, what happens if a person gets a kerrigan doll for instance, and then deletes his account, what happens to rare items like that?

I delete posts all the time when they are in no way contributing to the discussion, or when I'm merging self-replies, etc. A lot of the time the stuff I delete isn't malicious, just poor forum presentation. So I think a 50 mineral punitive deduction is way too strong most of the time. Perhaps you can let moderators decide the deduction (up to 50) when we delete the posts?

mc2
06-14-2007, 01:41 PM
Actually, we moderators cannot decide how much minerals will be deducted when we delete a post. It is a set figure of 50, only the administrator can change it.

We don't delete replies that are of a poor presentation or poor wording. Posts are only deleted if they are considered "Pure Spam". For example a post containing only the word "LOL" is considered pure spam. In this instance members are encouraged to improve their posts through the modify function and hence avoid the need for deletion.

My above post was a suggestion. I think there are plenty of situations where deleting message without punishing the poster is better than editing the message.

The ability of deleting your own posts is good, but there are some drawbacks on how the money would flow upon deleting a post by yourself. Here are my concerns:

- When a moderator deletes his/her own posts, would that trigger the $50 penalty?
- When a user posts, and deposit all his money to the bank, and delete a post, will the money be withdrawn from the bank as a result of deduction of the money the user get from the post he just deleted? Will the $15 apply to such a withdrawl?
- Similar to the one above, but this time the user used up all his money after posting, then decide to delete his post and doesn't have enough money to pay back for the deletion, what would be the expected result of that?

mc2

Yes, everyone is treated equally

No, there is no withdrawl fee when minerals are deducted from the bank as a result of post deletion

- Similar to the one above, but this time the user used up all his money after posting, then decide to delete his post and doesn't have enough money to pay back for the deletion, what would be the expected result of that?

EDIT: A member's minerals cannot go into negative, the lowest point is zero. If their posts are deleted when they have 0 minerals in their pocket and 0 in their bank, this figure will remain 0.

Please Note that members are not permitted to abuse this system. A member is considered to be abusing this system when "he/her posts lots of spam to obtain extra minerals, then spend all the minerals in the shop immediately, consequently losing 0 minerals when all of their spam posts are deleted". If a member is found to be abusing this system there will be consequences.

Quick question, I'm still a little new to this particular forum, but can someone explain to me how the power level concept works?

Remy
06-28-2007, 06:08 AM
It's a way to rate fellow forum members, it's like karma.

If you see a post that you think is very helpful or made some really good points, then you can power them up by clicking the blue arrow pointing up. On the other hand, if you think a post was particularly poor in content, was incoherent gibberish, or just down right spam, then you can power down the poster clicking the red arrow pointing down.

Welcome to the forums btw.

This is what I love about all the gaming 2.0 fansites springing up, letting the users interact more with the site and each other. Creating more to do then just read forums :)

Has anyone been to gameriot? Thats what AMPed gaming turned into, they have mostly WoW players on there and they use an XP system, things like this get addicting. I first saw a StarCraft style one on sc2armory.com

As far as ideas go, I'll have to browse a bit more to make sure I don't suggest something that's already been said... but I've got tons

Ok now I don't know where else to post this, but if someone has some money for me to lend, I would gladly accept it..
I didn't want to post this in a new topic.
I want to create an Immortal army of five, but I am soo far away from it right now.., I only have only in the bank. (also if you would like to buy the zealot or the probe just tell me..)
