I have Windows XP and it's great. What OS do you have? What do you think about other OS's?
Discuss :gossip:

EDIT: Feel free to tell me what more to add.

You forgot Vista.

I have Vista....It's a love hate thing.
I love the graphical stuff, but hate the interface.
If anything, this will be what drives me to a Mac.

Vista. I like the OS very well but it is a tad buggy. Overall it is good

The reason I use Windows: GAMES (and the button thing)

You don't need to use the Mac mouse dude, nobody really uses it. All you gotta do is connect your bluetooth to the USB and there you go.

If you're main concern is games, than windows is definitely the way to go. I always get pissed I can't play most games such as Halo 3 and can't use programs like GGC or BWCharts.

At least Blizzard games, my favorite kind 8) are all compatible with Macs, so that's what matters.

HE HE Yeah. I did that to my Dad's PC. He still uses XP and his video drover software can do the translucent wondows and I got one of theos Vista Themes for XP. You can't tell the difference at first glance

It's not bad though I wouldn't recomend buying it if you are not good with computers or know someone who is. It is really inconsistent. On some computers it is twice as good at XP and on others is nearly unusable.

It says it will run on 1GB memory but you should probably have 2 for good meansure

As long as you are happy :)

if I had a choice I would still choose a Mac. Even though it isn't suited for games very well, it is great for articles, work, graphic design, etc. The applications it has makes it really powerful (i.e. iMovie, iPhotos, iWork, etc.)and it also doesn't crash (often).

With the brand new Mac that now supports PC-based games and costs less than the original, it is just irrefutable :D (4me)

I disabled all the visual crap on vista, consumes to much RAM i do like the system security though, it certainly is a step up demanding user permision that i don't think coding can effect.... yet.

'nuff said.

I've been working with Vista a bit on uncle's computer, but it refused to do just the things I needed done. Eventually we changed it to XP ( http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20070926 )

I run Vista. The most annoying thing about it is that it causes my Mac-fanatic friends and Linux-fanatic friends to flip out every time they get near my computer.

Fenix
10-17-2007, 11:56 PM
Lol, they flip out?

More or less. The Mac-fanatic has developed a tolerance, since he had to, because we're roommates, but right now his MacBook Pro is being repaired, so he's been forced to use my computer to do schoolwork. Whenever something is less than intuitive, "I blame Microsoft."

He doesn't seem to have a problem with it when he's using it to play the UT3 demo though....

OK just some infromation for all of you Lepord is not a MS product it is the new OS X (Mac) version

I can't wait for tomorrow... the new operative system is coming for mac, 10.5 (Leopard). I will be one of the first in Denmark to try it off. Btw, I would say that mac is better than microsoft, when you want a secure system, with no viruses, and its also better to make homework on with the new iWork ยด08. I mean, you can do things with it, that the office packs can't do if you don't but the wary expensive office pack. But if you just need a computer to play computer games on, then choose that PC. Because you can get a lot more games to a PC than you can get to a Mac, even though many companies has started to make the games both for mac and PC.

I am the Mac-fanatic Neon speaks of. The "less than intuitive" features were mostly centered around me being unable to edit files I had permission to edit, and also some weird printer errors.

At least the UT3 Demo worked when I used it. If it functions properly under normal operations, I don't care who made it! I also used it to play Portal and a little HL2, and I had no trouble. Apparently Windows is more suited to playing games than running word processors.

After finishing that project, I swore never to use Windows again. Unfortunately, I have failed to avoid it. The infestation is everywhere! (Last usage: at Universal Studios, to access their fingerprint scan lockers. One of the terminals was messed up, and one of the employees exited to Windows to restart the application.)

On a side note, I have no trouble using Linux, and I have used it regularly in the past. Only Windows ever gives me grief.

Oh, and I have a MacBook, not a Pro.

Where's my Windows 3.1?

Can_2
06-11-2008, 12:30 AM
Windows 3.1 was /fail (that would be considered 'other;) rofl it crashed when bill gates was showing it rofl saktes
Xp gets my vote, one of the best OS version Microsoft has made.
Pros
Very user friendly and nice UI
Most things work on it, games, software, etc.
Cons
The only one would be viruses but that would be for every Windows OS, since so many people want to virus Microsoft :(
Vista sucks way too much memory :( but specs keep betting better, but still :(

If you want that then maybe people should reinstall XP without any service packs and see just how good it really is

Also whats up with the Linux Ubuntu item? Theres more Linux distributions
I use Gentoo
