Boards of Canada, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, LFO, µ-Ziq, old Apparat, Cdatakill, Funkstörung and alot more. Now I'm curious, anyone into them?

Hmm V snares didn't made much IDM.. I think it's more breakcore

and.. yo dude.. we are probably the only 2 who like/know these..

I recently found a nice one.. Nagz.. he is very underground (I know him because of the IRC I go on and we both use the same software) He made a split EP with some other guy and it sounds EXACTLY like boards of canada..

you can download these 2 songs on the EP for free.. let me post the link:

http://hringur.jol.hu/

there you go.. 2 free great songs by Nagz and Hringur

Autechre and Aphex Twin are the 2 first I ever heard in this list.. and I discovered them long ago.. I prefer autechre to Aphex Twin..

I don't really know the other ones you stated.. probably because I'm much more into breakcore and I'm also living in Canada.. which sucks ass.. I know about every Autechre song..

I'll try to download some of these names..

right now I don't ahve much time because I have like 55 songs to listen and know for the bb5 contest of Renoise... and then we have to rate them.. its a nice composition competition.. you should get the pack.. there are many good songs.. ohh hmm you would need to download the renoise demo too if you want to listen to the songs..

here are some links:

http://www.renoise.com

and this is the bb5 page.. click on "entries"

http://www.renoise.com/beatbattle5/

conner_bw's song is pure breakcore with the voice of kaneel
kaneel's song is glitchtronica
Benefit of the boomrang's song is more like weird stuff.. ambient at the start and then ****ed up at the end..
Beatslaughter's song is very very great.. you must hear it..
Valzi's song is some weird VGM

some of the songs arent too good but its fun to hear and watch..

JBL

Yeah I know it was very dead.. but I wanted to revive it because there are many new members.. and maybe there are more who are into this stuff..

This has to be one of the most unknown genre...and with the greatest creativity and innovation.

yeah... i still have no idea what this kind of music is. never even heard of it.

Basicly, it's electronic music that doesn't try to sound like acoustic music..

it's usually full of complex, weird sounding percussions that doesn't sound like a real drum at all..

sometimes this is complemented with a real drum.. or the whole thing sounds half drum/half weird percussions.

the melodies can be either complex or simple, depending on what feeling it's trying to give, one thing is sure.. the melody will be unique, new, interesting and intriguing.. there are sometimes stacks of many of them..

there are basslines and pads.. a pad is a sound that acts a bit like a bassline.. but the sound itself is more complex, it's more "ambient" these sounds aren't used for melodies because the sample itself can last more than a few seconds.. it varies from super duper short.. like a normal sound.. to like.. 10+ seconds.. these pads are used to add ambience and atmosphere to the track.. when stacked to a bassline, you can get a really interesting texture.. it's usually better with a clean and simple melody over it.

basicly, in idm.. pretty much everything is possible.. the range of sub-genre is endless due to the creativity of the performers..

I guess we could also include "breakcore" in that.. but it's for the "metalheads" hehe.. breakcore is much more violent than the average idm.

You might end on something you hate.. or on something you love..

I suggest you try different name.. you'll see a huge diversity in sonorities.

I strongly suggest Boards of Canada, Autechre, Mum, or Mouse on Mars for an ambient sound.

Orbital for a techno sound

The Flashbulb, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin for something a little bit more axed on percussions and that's going to be faster.

and Bogdan Raczynski, Benefit of the Boomerang or Venetian Snares for something much more violent.

For electronica, I usually just go with trance. I don't like the spazzy stuff, I prefer long drawn out rhythms, at least with my electronica. Rock, different story.

Aside, I haven't seen coalescence for a long time, but his profile says he was active yesterday.....Where?

Try looking beneath rocks, I like it there.

For the IDM lovers, check out 'Christ.' (with the dot yeah), ex member of Boards of Canada, makes some very nice music.

I really like Aphex Twin's violin solo

I love it when people take strings and use them in other genres...

Then, I strongly suggest Venetian Snares' Rossz Csillag Alatt Született. You'll love that stuff.
