Hate Restarting to make your comp. faster?

There is a solution!

I figured this out myself, I realize it's probably on google, actually I sure it's on google but this was figured out by me with no outside resources except notepad (I was scripting) and my computer. Don't accuse me of plagiarizing.

Anyways here's what you do:

1. Go to a folder or somewhere you want this 'script' to be.

2. Make a new shortcut file. (Rightclick->New->Short Cut)

3. You should get a box that says something about item location, type in the following. (And when I say type I mean copy+paste)
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks

4. Press next and you get enter name, enter what you want.

5. Click finish, and when you want to 'restart' just double click and all the idle stuff goes -puff-. (No there is no sound effect although if you know how to script you can add one -.-)

Which operating systems does this work on?

I assume all Windows.

Microsoft XP and Vista, or at least that's all I've tried it on.

I could try to write one for Mac but I only have macs at work.

When you restart your computer, you delete a bunch of idle memory, they are just traces of stuff you've opened and downloaded etc. If you leave your computer on for a day without shutting it down or restarting and use it actively you'll notice it getting slower and slower, instead of restarting to make it faster, you can just click a short cut now.

Are there any side effects of using this? Can anything bad happen?

No, or at least none that I can think of although you may not want to do it during an installation. Besides that, nothing bad can happen, just makes your comp. run like you just started it.
