Starcraft 2 The Movie (a Reality?)

Been thinkin bout this for ages ..sorry if its already been discussed. But whenever i see the sick cinematics in starcraft i cant help but imagine them making a real movie about it. Does anyone think this could happen or am i just thinking about something that will never happen :-\

Keep in mind that their cinematics often are quite short (2-3 minutes). Maybe it would just be way too costly to make a movie of that quality while keeping it to the length of standard movies.

I'd love of Blizzard and a good film company to turn the events of SC1 into a movie, though.

I have always dream of a SC2 movie being released. I mean the story and the setting is way better than most other sci-fi movies. It will be costly for Blizzard and it is unlikely that they'll do it themselves, since they are already too involved in WC and SC. The only chance is some film company willing to pay Blizzard to use their SC1 story and turn it into a movie, but that's unlikely. Or maybe some film company in South Korea might be interested in doing it. :)

Their cinematics are very cool anyway and I think there will be more cinematics in SC2, like one for every 2 missions. Plus the cinematics will probably be a lot longer too. :)

i doubt blizzard would ever release the rights for starcraft to another company becuase they would wreck it lols. also it takes ages for the blizzard team to make the 1-2 minute videos that go into the game already so they will never make like a 2hr movie lols.
we will just have to be content with the awsome cinematics that are in the campain. there will definitely be as many but probably more than in warcraft 3.

it wont have anything to do with the warcraft storyline, but it will be in azeroth

lol forgot about wow, i think it would be pretty hard to make becuase even if every1 that has played wow (10mil) goes to see it that doesnt come close to the amount of revenue that movies need to be making these days. hopefully blizzard has heavy influence on the story line, otherwise it could be really bad (doom any1 :P )

Actually i would love to see a sc/wc movie , although there is a 90% chance that it will flop. the remaining 10% to suceed is whether they would actually make a good plot. (although i have an idea of an SC movie involing ardo melnikov in one of the SC's novel)

Well, look at movies like both of the Final Fantasy movies, even thought one really sucked, but who cares? I mean, hell, the HD cinematic for the SC II looks insane. C'mon, I hope they do something like that, I really wanna see Terran own Zerg.

Yeah i'm all for it, but i do not want the movie company to have their screenwriters branch out into their own little story because that would suck so much ***-*-***-****-****-**. Screenwriters don't know **** about **** (mostly referring to FF: Spirits Within).

I saw on rottentomatoes the other day that Blizzard and I think Fox Entertainment are slowly going forward with plans to make a movie around the plot of Diablo. I wouldn't expect Starcraft to be made into a movie until well after this movie is done. I think the Warcraft Universe would probably be their next move. Not like Blizzard doesn't have enough money!

Hmmm, more something like a octology ;) I hate how they stuff a whole story line in a few movies, I think it will do no good for starcraft.

starcraft wont do any good at the box office if its a low budget type ....probly needs great and famous voice over actors and the budget should not be less than 50 million dollars

diablo and world of warcraft is already in development by legendary pictures (300, superman, dark knight etc.)

now starcraft will surely be next in line.

I read on rottentomatoes that Blizzard and I believe Fox Entertainment are make steps towards turning Diablo into a movie. If they can do that then maybe down the road SC or WC could be turned into a movie. WC would prob come first though with WoW being so popular.

it will be set in the world of Warcraft but won't follow the story lines from the games supposedly

Ah, I hadn't heard anything about World of Warcraft. The news release I had seen only talked about Diablo. I like that it's going to be done by the guys who did 300. That pumps me up.

I agree with Gui, mostly because I am a pessimist. But if anyone can do a movie from a video game right, it'll be Blizzard.

i always imagined that a Starcraft movie would look like the first ( and very unpopular) final fantasy movie where all the humans are trapped inside those shielded cities. The aliens in that movie seemed a lot like infested terrans and the soldiers also kind of looked like ghosts or marines.
