Starcraft 2 music

We all know that the music in starcraft was amazing XD
I personally prefered the protoss music. I was just wondering if anyone is as excited to hear the new music as I am =]

Protoss music was the worst (or maybe rather: a bit worse). I liked: Zerg 4, Terran 3 & 4 and the Protoss movie music from cutscene "The fury of Xel Naga"

I didn't like any of the Protoss ones (except maybe the Briefing Room music, it was okay). Liked all Terran ones, and i liked all Zerg ones but the fourth one. While not really counting as music (although it's included in the soundtrack), i kinda liked Arcturus speech to the Dominion at his coronation.
The music of the end movie of Chapter III when Tassadar sacrificed himself was pretty good too.

Well, indeed. Terran had IMHo the best scores. It was climatic, specialy Terran 3 which is very dinamic and sugest, that we are playing guys with a terrible troubles ( at the ending this score just pwned!). Also Terran 4 (fine Terran march) is a very climatic.

protoss music reminds me of gladiator or warcraft (humans),a war victory or loss kind of music. but its fits well to the mighty protoss.

i like the terran music.. i hope they will make the terran music more engaging and cooler in starcraft 2.

i dont like the zerg music. maybe changing it to more like that of the orc background music in war craft makes playing zerg more fun.

In terms of briefing room music, Protoss's was the best. It makes it feel mythological or something. Terran's was the worst, I dunno why they chose that, it feels more haunted than zerg's!!

In game music, I would say Terran's are the best, Protoss's and Zerg's are a bit boring. But the "radio free zerg" is pretty cool :D

In victory/defeat music, they are all good. The Zerg's victory is probably the best, and Protoss's defeat is good too, fits the theme.

Protoss Victory is nice also. But the other pieces? er, yuck? lol
But the zerg is also nice to listen to.

The protoss musics are by far the best.. they are great ambience pieces.. the zerg ones are really deep and dark too.. I like them..

however I don't like the way the terran ones sound..

haha i loved the terran music. especially the climax on terran 1 around 4:30 in the blizzard music player. it just pumps me up.

I'm sure Blizzard will have a great score to the game. It's their biggest release ever i'd say. I don't think they want to let people down like the new Zelda.

I hope its a sci-fi type music like the original one ... any idea who performed the original starcraft tracks? game play video means nothin related to music ... it might be some random track to make it feel nice... I doubt if they have fully completed recording their tracks

Well remember that the music sets the mood, and if the wrong music is used, you get the wrong mood. But i am sure Blizzard could pull it off if they tried :D

Yeah, same here, I wonder if there is a download for that song?
I wonder who composed it? Big Tuna? Jason Hayes? Glenn Stafford? Derek Duke? or Tracy W. Bush? All of whom were behind the compositions of the original StarCraft music. Futhermore, will the music for StarCraft 2 be composed by a new line of songwriters etc? and lastly, my opinions about the original SC music? I loved the PROTOSS music, my favorite being the ethereal and mysterious Protoss Briefing Room song and not to mention, the Protoss Victory and Defeat music! Very epic-sounding!

The protoss music fits them... but its not all that great to listen to normal.
They should make protoss music like the night elves where its alot more mystical. (but no wind chimes lol)

I think its not an orchestra. I heard it was like a single composer who works with keyboards and stuff like that. Anyway Sc2 music is orchestral. The artwork trailers music is great. They should release them for DL just as they did with one track prior to the launching of WC3.

according to the credits from the original StarCraft these are the ones listed: Glenn Stafford, Derek Duke, Jason Hayes, "Big Tuna" (a.k.a. Bill Parcells), and Tracy W. Bush. and like Lemmy said, the music from the original were composed on synthesizer keyboards and an actual choir was used as well, mostly for the Protoss music. :p

I know what you mean, I hope the music team for SC2 has devised a plan to implement something like that for protoss music.

The BW song of the protoss was the only one I really liked. Quite mystical and dark, pretty aproppiate for the new planet, but the other protoss tracks are sad and depressing, not glorious.

The Protoss's "victory song" in the scores page is pretty glorious. But yeah, most Protoss in game songs are too depressing. And most Zerg songs do not sound creepy at all. The Protoss mission briefing song is very good. I used to just leave it on that page and listen to it. The Terran's mission briefing song is the worst, sounds even more haunted than the zerg's. "radio free zerg" is pretty good too.

i liked the score pages the most. especially at the very beginning where you there the scores rise up and being added and all that. the little constant sound. ( i cant describe it, ring or bell or perhaps buzz lol )

As an interesting update, the music in the build was from the original StarCraft. I actually even asked Karune if he knew where the Protoss music that was leaked was from, and he said he really didn't know.
