So, today I got meself a 250 gig external hard drive for backup. Cause I got a lot of stuff I don't wanna lose (Games, music, other....er....risque items). The fact that it was on sell for 80USD and that I got a 10% discount on it had a bit to do with it
So, anyone else regularly back up their hard disks?

I don't back up things because I keep important files on a different partition from where Windows and the installed programs are so even if I really need to format the disk and reinstall Windows, all my important stuff remains intact.
I like to not think about my HDD going bust ;D
I use an external HDD for backup.. but I also keep all my music and videos on it.. I simply play them from my ext. HDD and I keep my internet one clean.
have you noticed that now the laptops come with 1 HDD splited in 3... C: for windows D: for Data and E: for something to format your C:

Well, I do not backup, because I trust windows that much, that it detects crashes before they happen. My friend just has the problem, the blue screen appears at him when starts the cpu, and tells that the hard drive won't probably last for more than xx-days. That started from 30, and I think that is fairly enough time to get an other HDD and back your stuff up.
I lost all my stuff in the past and it was very annoying to get back.. hours and hours of work...
you shouldn't ever trust anything made by Microsoft.. how do you think they make so much money?

i never had the BSOD (blue screen of death) before, only had like three reformats because of viruses, but i keep all my stuff at the DRIVE D, so i dont need backups right now
You splited your hdd in 2?
that's a very good idea..
I would use that method but I have too many files anyway.. so I would still need my external hdd
I put my songs and pictures on a DVD.
on one single dvd? woa you don't have much stuff.

Hell yeah, I have barely enough place on this computer.. I may just buy a 500 GB HDD, that would make my life easier..

My external backup used to be my Fathers computer since he has unused hard drive space but I stopped that practice since he thinks that the generic anti-virus provided by out ISP (Cox) works just fine and his computer now has a rampant infection so bad that I can't install a real antivirus program and he refuses to let me reformat his system.
Now I'm in the market for an external hard drive
haha BoP that's quite a funny story...
What do you have on your PC? I have a couple of hundred songs, some pictures and that's it. ???

Yeah pretty much same here. Only music I have on my PC is ripped from my CDs. I wish I could rip my DVDs to my computer so I don't have to get them out when I want to watch a movie its especially annoying with LotR that has 4 discs per movie.
I was under the ipresssion that once you buy a movie you were supposed to be able to do what you want with it so long as you don't try making a profit off of it or pass off pieces of it as your own work.
There are softwares that allow you to rip your dvds on your computer..
try AoA DVD Ripper
