The 5th element - always good with a sci fi movie
Speed - yes lots of chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Kiena Reeds
Mean girls - I have to like a teen flick since I'm a teen
American Pie 3 The Wedding - this is hailarious! I had my friends over and watch this movie all night! we just couldn't sleep.
Death becomes her - this movie is as funny as hell
Little Miss Sunshine - this movie is very funny and has a great storyline. It's like a real human version of the simpsons

omg! most of your fave movies are flops and has bad acting and poor special effects. and some of you like old movies. heheh
chronicles of rid**** for example, looks like a sci fi tv series.
speed? i find other people on that bus annoying. like the short haired asian, and sandra bullock, i thought she was flirting with keanu the whole time. but anyway i like the movie, but only for one sitting. ;)
heres my top 10 lists. (i never get tired of these movies, and thats why i like them).
s. lotr: return of the king ( this is the best movie ever! i watched this in cinema 3 times)
1. lotr: two towers (2 times)
2. lotr: fellowship of the ring (4 times)
3. pirrates of the carribean: at worlds end
4. pirrates of the carribean: dead man's chest
5. star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith (2 times)
6. 300 (3 times)
7. gladiator (3 times)
8. spider man 2 (3 times)
9. shrek 2
10. troy (2 times)
and my top record for most watched movies in the cinema are..
spider man (7 times)
star wars: attack of the clones (5 times)
these are only my top 10, the list goes on. (rush hour 2, war of the worlds, saving private ryan, meet the fockers, passion of the christ etc.) ;D
Your top 10 is pure mainstream movies that were only made for $ and they were all made in the 00's
your leak of general culture makes me sad.

The Matrix. but only the first one. The other two sucked.
Dune (The original)
Maverick. I never tire of that movie.
V for Vendetta. Totally freaking awesome political message
House of Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero. I'm way into the whole wuxia genre, but you can only find the mainstream ones in Utah. =(
A Chinese Tall Tale. I can promise you will not find this in any store - ever. But if you do, buy it. It's so absurdly lame and completely random. I couldn't find any particular plot, but it's funny as all can be.
Serenity A freaking awesome movie based off of the best TV series of all time.
And that be me list. 'Till I remember something more anyways.

movies are meant to entertain. and my favorite movies entertained me a lot. and you just can't compare lord of the rings with fifth element or planet of the apes. yes i think fifth element is good but i don't think its my kind of movie that i will cherished, and the experience factor is just not there. yes i know a lot of movies not only mainstream movies, i can put on my lists i am sam, kill bill, spirited away, the godfater saw, ai etc. but i think they are only good when watched rarely. im not saying that i can watch my fave movies everyday, but surely i can watch them each twice in a month. and i don't really route for the box office hit movies, look there are no jurrasic park, et, titanic, harrypotter, finding nemo etc.

Damn, I have a lot, and I probably forgetting half of it;
Starship Troopers (all time favorite)
11:14
12 Monkeys
21 Grams
2001: A Space Odyssey
The 5th element
À la folie... pas du tout
Akira
Alien (all 4, but not Alien vs Predator, that movie is a disgrace too both the alien and predator series)
American Beauty
American History X (I don’t understand why all the neo-nazi’s in my country love this movie, it has a strong morale AGAINST Nazism)
Apocalypse Now
The Beach (underrated movie, and Leonardo DiCaprio is really an underrated moviestar, I guess it’s because of Titanic that a lot of ‘serious’ movie lovers won’t take him serious anymore, big shame)
Blade Runner
The Butterfly Effect
City of God
Chronicles of Rid****/Pitch Black
A Clockwork Orange
Crash
Cube (only part 1. 2 and 0 suck)
Dawn of the Dead (old one, the new one sucks)
Elephant
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Full Metal Jacket
Ghost in the Shell (1 & 2)
Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Lost in Translation
Magnolia
Matrix (first one is the best, but I did like the other 2)
Les Poupees Russes
Princess Monoke
Pulp Fiction (who doesn't?)

wow that's a nice list.. many of them are movies that I forgot on my list. however something really took my attention..
The Virgin Suicides
maybe it's because I didn't watch to movie for the good reasons.. (I watched it because the soundtrack was made by Air, a band that I like)
I didn't really like the movie.. except for it's soundtrack...
ohh about The Beach.. I've not seen the movie but I know what it is.. and I totally agree with you that leonardo dicaprio is underrated.. I used to underestimate him until i saw him in The Departed.. and I realised that he's just like Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp... aka a king of cinema
American History X: yeah they like the movie because we see nazis in them.. it's a good start for them.. they get a model to follow.. and some swastika to enjoy ;)
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels...... Yeah this movie is awesome.. and I do prefer it to it's sequel with Brad Pitt and Goldie (Snatch) I prefer a story with poker and weed to a story with boxe and a diamond :)
Nikzad
06-21-2007, 02:33 PM
Snatch is not a sequel to Lock Stock, just letting you know.
When I get home and I can access my facebook, I will post my favorite movies. There is no way that I will remember all of them right now. Check back in 7 hours or so.

you are right.. "sequel" isnt the right word..
but it's almost a sequel. I don't know what would be the best word to describe the link there is between these 2 movies..
it's just like the links between reservoir dogs and pulp fiction..
i think quentin said something about making a movie that would link these 2 a bit more... but it got canceled..

Hmm Goldie? Didn't know he was into acting :P But I never saw Snatch, there are alot of movies that fit in the list of 'everyone's seen them except for me' like Fight Club (I'm deeply ashamed) of Pirates of the friggin' Caribbean (probably a waste of my time :P)
I haven't seen The Departed, but isn't it the U.S. remake of the Hong Kong movie 'Infernal Affairs' ?

Green Street Hooligans is one of the most kickass movies out there, oh, and of course...300!!! Everytime i see that movie i wanna go buy a shield and fight a Persian
The Departed IS an amazing movie.

oh yeah you gotta see The Departed.. it might be a remake but it worth seeing..
snatch is pretty cool too.. and yeah.. Goldie tries to be actor.. but he's not famous.. his biggest role was in Snatch.. he has like 2 lines.. but it's a movie with brad pitt so.. it does worth something hehe..
he's not bad at all..
yeah you gotta see fight club.. brad pitt is amazing in this movie.. it reminds me of 12 monkeys a little.. Edward Norton is very good as well.

omg! you really are serious. there must be something in this movie you really fell in love with. maybe it hit you big time the first time you saw it, well it happened to me and i was overwhelm the first time, but as a great movie fan that i am i realized after a year or 2 that starship troopers was lame and is nothing compared to other movies. unfortunately for you, this movie is stuck with you until now. tsk tsk tsk  we can make a poll for this movie if you want to and see what other members think about this movie.
lack taste? see my my lists? starship troopers is uncomparable on my lists. its one of the worst movie ever, really. the critics has said it, the movie tickets sale proves it, and the pips says it. it was nominated on this oscars for special effects, but that was it everything was lame, trying hard topless actors (actresses), lame plot, etc. now you tell me i dont have taste, i only like quality movies, this is not quality. i hope you like this movie not because of starcraft. Why has nobody mentioned American Psycho? Christian Bale's performance in that is awesome, some really funny lines in there. Like when the model asks him what he does:
"Oh, I'm into murders and executions"
"Excuse me?"
"Mergers and acquisitions"
And by the way, Starship Troopers really is awesome. It's supposed to be satirising a utopian society and patriotism. And anything with Neil Patrick Harris is automatically teh cool (Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle, hell yeah!). And how can you possibly like Starcraft and not Starship troopers? Starcraft owes a lot to both Alien and Starship Troopers in terms of terran unit design and speech. The dropship for example is straight out of Alien, and the UED propaganda film is just like the one from Starship Troopers.
zeratul11
06-23-2007, 07:16 AM
i always thought starcraft was made first before starship troopers, and that starcship troopers copied a lot from starcraft. yes i know starship troopers is from a novel. correct? anyway one thing lame about terran is the cinematic the last one on broodwar (the way they show zerg being defeated and terrans capabilities, units, etc) yes, similar to starship troopers. i dont like it. (its like a commercial and they are jolly about it.)
thats a mistake blizzard should get rid of in starcraft 2. i hope they will no longer show this terran commercial things. ZERG! wtf?
if they changed it in starcraft 2 then im correct. they (blizz) realized that its old crap and its not good.

ok i got it. its not the story and the message that i dont like. now i know about utopian society and patriotism and the fact that starcraft may have gotten some ideas from starship troopers (all you said that matters. thanks i guess). anyway, like i said i used to like starship troopers, but over the years it just became one of the random movies in my lists. its not the kind of movie that i will be proud of (like perfectly knowing the story, characters and lines) no way. no way it will be on my top 60 lists. maybe its because i find the characters, acting and action over the top (trying hard etc.) anyway its your fave not mine, and good luck with it. peace ;D

wow. a sequel of starship troopers? ok i remember now. now that says a lot about the first one too.
anyway johnny depp was brilliant in all pirates movie.. i mean the multiple johnny in pirates at worlds end was brilliantly acted, only he could do this kind of things. if jim carry was sparrow, you will anticipate what will come unlike johnny.
johnny is such a great actor, he should have one the oscar when he was nominated in pirates one.

not to mention that it sucked cheese in basically every single quality that exists in a movie...
Yeah indeed, two different directors, mood-change from the first movie, the obvious Alien-ripoff... and the re-usage of the actor that played the Roger Young's Captain, who was killed in the first movie, in a completely different role too.

Very true, it really is a shame, but reremember that it wasn't directed by Paul Verhoeven (Holland woohoo! ;D) but by a guy named 'Phil Tippett', ever heard of him? I haven't. Appearantly he played a alien in the star wars cantina :'D
Theres also a third Starship Troopers coming up, directed by Ed Neumeier, he wrote both Starship Troopers (not the book, but the script) and Robocop. The biggest reason that I look forward to this movie is that Casper Van Dien plays Rico again :)
if jim carry was sparrow, you will anticipate what will come unlike johnny.
Stupid to underestimate Jim Carrey because he made a few corny comedy movies, he did play phenomonal roles in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show.

The worst movie of all time is Manos: Hands of Fate (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060666/). The rating is skewed because a bunch of idiots give it a rating other than 1 because they thought it would be funny to do that. It isn't. This movie is the worst in existence.

I didn't say every movie in your list was bad. I was commenting on those specifically. My list wasn't in any particular order. And all of my favorites are great movies that will last through the ages. And if you read my other post you will see that I like LotR but it's not so amazing that it should be on top. The first hour of Fellowship of the Ring is god-awful boring and the last 30 minutes of Return of the King is god-awful boring.
Judging from your movie selection and what you think is just so amazing I would guess that you are around 14-16 years old.
And again, the three new star wars movies sucked hard.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this.
Anakin Skywalker: Apparently not.
Seriously, that line is so amazingly bad it's not even funny. I hang my head in shame when I even hear that. And Ewan McGregor is actually a good actor. It's just that this movie is so terribly bad it makes everyone in it do incredibly poorly.

The most recent star wars movies were so over-blown in terms of special effects it seems as though the script was a hasty add-on. Episodes IV to VI were awesome cause back then Lucas was an underdog, the first one was close to having the plug pulled, but the recent ones he was just riding the fame of the first three and doing whatever the hell he could add in to make the trailer's look really cool. Zeratul11's list seems to be comprised entirely of movies created in the last 7-10 years, with a few exceptions, I think you need to see some older films and get a better scope of things. I do like LOTR, but there's a bit of a bias, cause (as I'm from New Zealand and Peter Jackson hired like half of the country for the film) my dad helped build some of the set for it. Like the trebuchet's used in the siege. Those kicked ass. I love Kubrick films. Dr. Strangelove is soooo funny! The obssession with bodily fluids...fantastic stuff

what is it exactly that you dont like about star wars episode 1 2 and 3? the story? dialogs? the humor? first the special effects was overwhelming, and the story was fine, it tells the story of anakin and how he became darth vader (what story could be better?). i can't imagine what more can they possibly do about the scenes in the movie. revenge of the sith is a stand out among the rest of the star wars, its way serious and dark than all the other star wars movies and they made an outstanding job on the story, plot, settings, lines, actions etc. and how anakin turn into the dark side, what could be better than that. i think episode 3 revenge of the sith is the best star wars ever. In a new hope, they blew up half of the death star easily with only few x wing fighters trying to get their beams inside and the death of obi wan was like... ha? (the script was bad i think).
two thumbs up for revenge of the sith.

what's the point in criticizing peoples' movie tastes other than to be rude and gang up on them? it's not like you're going to make them all of a sudden change their tastes just to adhere to your opinions
about the oscars.. it's mainly a money thing.. and.. if they choose this movie or that movie.. it's because they have to choose between the movies that were made this year... which means.. you gotta choose between a bunch of crap.. because most of the recent stuff is pure crap made for teh $.

did you read the books? i think it has a big impact on you if you did
LOTR books are alot better than the movies. I also don't understand why they left crucial characters like Tom Bombadil out of the movies
when i saw the first movie that's exactly what i thought.. WHERE THE HELL IS TOM BOMBADIL? and WHY AREN'T THEY SINGING ALL THE TIME LIKE LIL HOBBITS!

I f**king hate that **** man. Here in the Netherlands the 2 movies of grindhouse are gonna be released seperatly and without the fake trailers. We protested against by sending letters to the distributor and some people went even that far to mail Quentin about it.
Want to know what the f**ker replied? "It's better this way, you europeans arent used to double features."
I used to think he was cool but now I think he's nothing but a f**kface, don't tell us what were used to and what we need. We wanted the double feature because it was supposed to be the double feature and just give it us instead being a wannabe shrink who says its better for us as it is. Quentin f**ktart.

THAT'S RIDICULOUS
They should be seen back to back will all of the previews in them too (are they leaving them out?)
I didn't like Tarantino's movie as much as I liked Rodriguez'. Tarantino's ended rather abruptly and wtf-ishly
The first one, Planet Terror, was gross in a bunch of parts, but it had Rose McGowan in it, who I have since found much more attractive...
http://www.cinemablend.com/images/sections/3637/3637.jpg
The second one, Death Proof, had potential but was a bit "Ehh..."
of all the people who I know who have seen it, it's split pretty evenly as to who liked the first better and who liked the second better
EDIT: They are thinking of making the previews (one or two of them, at least) into full-length feature films

it all has to do with your mood/stage in life/personal preference
if I've been sitting around the house all day and want some action would I go see Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood? hell no
would a girl like to go see a romantic comedy after just breaking up? probably not
would my dad (who decides whether or not to watch a movie by asking three questions: Do they sing? Do they have funny accents? Do they wear funny clothes?) go see Marie Antoinette? no way
to each his/her own

Reviews don't say ****. I have seen horrible movies being praised into heaven and great movies being stamped into the ground.
I don't mean critic reviews. Those are as worthless as reporters. If there were two types of people I would want banished from existence it would be critics and reporters. And lawyers.
I mean reviews by actual people. Like people seeing it and saying "wow dude that movie was amazing... just wow... you should definitely go see it. These reviews happen to be on blogs or forums on the internet though rather than word of mouth. Although it is technically word of mouth but more of a technical type of word of mouth.
One critic review I was told to read about 300 basically included the critic making up a completely different movie that could have been directed by some dead director that he probably wanted to bone and saying that this made up movie would have been so much better than 300 because it would have had locations and real special effects instead of CG.
****ing **** critic its based on a ****ing comic ****ing book not the ****ing real ****ing event i mean **** how ****ing dumb can you ****ing be? And making up a movie that was never made just to say a real movie is bad? What are you a ****ing seer? magician? candy ****ing man?
