I always assumed stuff like w00t and pwned were when online games first came out and when ppl were talking, they mistyped or something and then it just stuck

That's how "pwned" came about....Battle.net, War II, someone mistyped "owned"

w00t is like "YES!" accompanied by a pumping fist and/or a pounder.

" w00t was originally an acronym for "we owned other team" but used 1337$p34|< for some of the letters(w00t instead of woot). It is now commonly used as an interjection of joy.

"w00t! I pwn3d j00!"
"Oh! You see that hs??!?! W00T4G3!" "*

I just HAVE to post this, since I saw that mc2 got it wrong.

N00b = noob = annoying, rude, ignorant, and a general asshat

Newb = newbie = someone who is new to something, if it's a game they are usually low leveled.
