Starcraft2Forum.org Promotional Video Competition!

Hey guys, we're looking for a few promotional videos to post on YouTube and other sites to promote our forum. It's a relatively simple competition, just follow the guidelines and be creative. The videos will be judged collectively by the Moderators and the best chosen will be featured as the site's "official" promotional video and will be promoted on other web sites.

Guidelines:

1. Your video must have a Starcraft 2 theme in some way. It doesn't matter what it is, but it must relate to Starcraft 2 in some way. Be creative!

2. Humor is encouraged.

3. The forum logo must appear at least twice in your video, and one of those showings must be the full logo with the .org at the end. Please e-mail or PM me if you would like copies of the forum logo.

4. The video must be at least 30 seconds in length and no more than 4 minutes in length.

5. The video must have a theme song of sorts.

6. There is an additional category and bonus for use of NateSMZ's "Hell, it's About Time" rap as a theme song. This is not a requirement for your video, but is encouraged.

Prizes:

First: The video judged the best representation of the forum will earn the maker 10,000 minerals, a worker drone, and promotion of the video on a number of fan sites and on YouTube as the official SC2Forums video.

Second: The second place video will receive 5,000 minerals, a pet of less than 5,000 minerals value, and promotion of the video on YouTube as an official SC2Forums video.

Third: The third place video will receive 3,000 minerals and promotion of the video on YouTube as an official SC2Forums video.

Secondary Category: The best video that utilizes NateSMZ's "Hell, It's About Time" rap as a theme song will receive 5,000 minerals and a worker drone, in addition to becoming the official Music Video for NateSMZ's rap. This video will still be eligible to win the above prizes as well.

To Enter:
Retain a copy of your video in any readily playable format as a high quality video. Then post your video on YouTube with whatever title you choose. Then PM me with the url to the video.

The video was nice, it showed some forum features and I got the message from it. But that music degrades the overall result and it's not just a matter of taste - when you create a video for a game, the emphasis is on the visual content and the music is there to create a certain atmosphere while trying to appeal to as many people as possible. A good choice for that would be to use mainstream (soft) rock or punk pop. Your choice made me mute the thing and from then on I was already distracted.

Here are some vids that have a nice music to them. Even though it's a completely different genre and game, you will get the idea:

3 different choices of music but they all go with the video content and are close to (if not actually are) mainstream (which has a much higher chance of being accepted by most of the audience) or otherwise achieve the desired effect (like the epic movie music one).

Verdict: it's a nice attempt at a base on which to expand on but in it's current state, I hope it doesn't become the forum promotional video.

Not really, video editing is an art that must be learnt by one'self.

just use windows movie maker and import some vids and music and cut clips and put them together to make your own music video etc.

but imo windows movie maker sucks bad although its the program i use. any one here know other good video editing programs like windows movie maker?

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, or Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0

@rex. thats about it. i dont think i can help you more than that, its the basic just import vid and music after that its all up to you, like timing the music with the vid, cutting clips, etc.. the effects are all there just try to explore it. ^^

No, technically the video that Inside posted does not qualify for the competition. But he's supposed to be changing that.

REMEMBER! THE SITE LOGO (the new one) MUST APPEAR TWICE BY ITSELF IN YOUR VIDEO TO QUALIFY!!!!

I didn't see starcraft2forum.org anywhere in zeratul's video. Does that mean it doesn't qualify? If it is in there, please tell me where cause I watched it twice and didn't see anything. It's a great video though!

You can use any music that you see fit so long as you follow the guidelines of the competition.

Don't be discouraged by other users' submissions, which is also why I would like members to submit their videos to me via PM and no other way. Thanks!

I may extend the competition if necessary, but I would be very grateful if we had these videos by then. It's a time sensitive topic because I want these videos up!

Have a friend who wants credit for doing an awesome video? Have him do one up, you get the minerals, he gets the credit. Fine with me!!

My webcam makes the screen look flickery when it is recording a Tv screen or a moniter thats on its weird.

Unfortunately I have neither graphics editing software and neither can I learn how to use it in five days. If I had a video editing program I might be able to take SC in-game clips. If someone knows a good free video editor can you tell me about it?
