Oh I would definately hate a StarCraft MMORPG. For one, I would never play it and therefore miss out on any storyline it develops. And two, eww MMORPGs. And three, what the hell would you fight? Random spawns of ragnasaurs?

Anyways I would just be a Ghost and nuke things. Yeah, thats balanced. Realll balanced. Oh 100 players are mad at me for blowing up their space station? Cloak... nuke. Yay I win.

I personally don't mind the idea of a RPG for the starcraft series. I don't like MMORPG though because I'll want to spend tons of time on it and that would cause serious disrupt my normal life. Keeping the starcraft series to a RTS game would be the smartest move for Blizzard since the game IS the best RTS ever made to date.

Maybe after an expansion, or expansions for SC2, it's a good idea for world of starcraft because fans might want a change of taste :)

i'd HATE it if they made starcraft 2 p2p. That would be very VERY bad. WoW is enough to get them money.

MMORPG would be retarded IMO... MMOFPS would definately work for the starcraft universe tho.

I don't know. I think WoS could work for them. Doesn't mean I would play it, but obviously with 8 million people playing WoW, I doubt Blizz is going to throw it off the plate of possibilities without some serious consideration. My attitude is if they make it and I don't like it, I won't play it. But I am not going to berate those who do, nor Blizz for making it. That's the cool thing about free enterprise and capitalism...everyone is free to try what they will...and it will either flourish or fail based entirely on how good the product is, usually. :)

Also, on a side note, I highly doubt they would allow any single person to nuke a massive area at will. I mean, there were lots of things in Warcraft I, II, and III that didn't make it into WoW, so they know how to pick and choose most of the things that will keep the game fun for those who enjoy MMORPGs.

And I'm free to berate them. For WoW. WoW made production of SC2 slow down. Bad WoW. Badddddd.

There aren't that many heros in StarCraft, I don't think WoS would really work out right... The universe of StarCraft is just too....... modern and somewhat restrictive.

As for the 3D problem, it would be easier for them to use Havok than creating their own 2D sprite enginee that does better than StarCraft. I still amaze how the engineers in Blizzard figured to use 256-color-mapping-table and rotate some of the colours to animate flashing animations (to save precious cpu time) and to enable having "more than 256" colours in a 256-color screen mode.

Meh, if they did make a Starcraft MMO it would probably ruin the lore around it just like it did with WoW. World of Warcraft was a pretty good idea to get a nice cash flow going with the company, but now that they have it - they should really focus on keeping the Storyline impressive so everybody has something to walk away with saying "wow wowowowowow" which would leave a pretty positive feel on their games. A planetside style game probably wouldn't be too bad though, maybe don't include any of the old heroes in it and make up some new ones?

Just so people have 2 games to look at and enjoy from the Starcraft series rather then just an RTS, to keep those MMO people happy >:(

A starcraft MMORPG is a horrible idea. With WoW already out, whose gonna play ummm...WoS?That would be lame.

Starcraft is too much of a macrocosm to make it easy for an MMORPG to be based off of it. Warcraft had focus on individual units while starcraft is a battlefield through and through. Even when there are emphasis on single characters, they are there only for their rank, not strength in combat. It is also hard since in MMORPG, the RPG part is hard to implement unless the player can connect with the character he/she's controlling, which is usually done by making the character a humanoid. Unless they can come up with a couple thousand ways to differentiate kinds of marines, zealots, and hydras, they're going to have some hard time giving personalities to battlecruisers.

They could just use my vision for the perfect video game that would appeal to everyone. But I don't feel like posting that here or posting it right now. Suffice it to say you would be able to do anything. And it would look really good. Basically you are a person and you do whatever you want within the bounds of reason and, in this case, StarCraft. Want to enlist in the Dominion army corps? go for it. Want to secretly plot against Mengsk while training to be a ghost? go for it. Want to charge headlong with a bunch of your friends into a zerg swarm? go for it. Want to board a battlecruiser with a bunch of friends and kill everyone on board and take over the ship? go for it.

I think that kind of game is not so much hard to conceive as it is hard to program 0_o
