Thats really awesome. Thanks.

I see a reaver drop.
And everyone sees that there is a man in the missile turret right? There was one in SC1 also but nobody ever believed me.

Does anyone think all the structures look very cartoony? Especially the barracks and the turrets. And it appears that the base is sitting on a very high cliff. The edge of the cliff looks like a sky blue colour......

WOW. Now i notice how good the graphics in this game are going to be. Look at the first big picture ( Not the marine ) and you see the shadow of the buildings and the trees, they look perfect!

Nice article. Big Thx.

Just a quality is quite lame. I mean this 2007 we are in and you can only scans that quality meets 1998 requiremnets :(

Anyway maybe anyone know where I can get HI-quality version of article. No I cant buy the magazine in my country, and it would be quite crazy to buy and ship it because it would be way to expensive...

cool , thx for the pics

Tarantulo ... not all ppl in the world have a 3 GHz CPU, 2 GB of ram and some Radeon X900 ( or something)
the graphics is very good for an rts game, it looks a lot better then SC1, it's 3D for a start, if you think it looks lame. go play supreme commander or something
the scans are high quality, they are huge ! you can read over 95% of the text, the rest are simle words that can be easy to guess.
be happy you can read it the way it is

Yes they are cartoony. As for the sky blue, I believe its fog from a very deep canyon.

very nice info there

as for the graphic concerns Iam almost postive that they are still tweaking the looks of certain things in game still ;)

Senator if you look closely, the middle of the turrets between the two missile launch silos, there is something that looks like a "B" with yellow lines around it; I think this would be the hatch or security door thingy for the cockpit that opens up for the guy to get in and sit and closes once he is in place

I like the bunkers though, I always thought they should look more like they did in that animation..I think it was the last one for the Zerg with Kerrigan's voice-over...this infested Terran sprints to this huge-ass bunker and blows it to smithereens. whenever i saw the bunker in game i thought it didn't match the cinematic

by the way - anyone know where I can get the images (the first one is all I care about actually) without the line down the middle? I mean is PC Gamer the only one with this image of the marine taking aim with a nuke going off in the back or is it on some part of the Blizzard site or what? I see that the title banner thing that is before the first post has the bottom cut off but no line where the magazine page separation should be

hahaha thanks, but no, I didn't, but here's the site I got it from:

http://kebawe.com/wallpapers/rammstein/

there is only one other gif but i didn't know if people would understand it or if they just thought I like to eat so I chose this one...it's got some cool wallpapers too

PS - since I'm at work and stuff is blocked, and i don't surf much at home, I haven;t seen the cinematic trailer that much...o any of them for that matter. that pic of the marine and the nuke is a split second flash on the cinematic trailer. does anyone know any good links for a hi-def version (to watch, not DL)? and does anyone know what software i can use to capture screens so it doesn't do that annoying "window" with the overlay or something when you try to paste it into Paint?

but yeah i was looking for something that was wallpaper-worthy because it has to get blown up

i'll save it as a stock image for future work though, thanks :good:

A very in-depth interview/article they have. I'm looking forward to see how good Star Relic make High Templar look like an amateur at spell casting... (cloaking buildings is way too cool :D)

boo hoo I'd rather have the Star Relic because it can... cloak buildings.
I mean you could hide your base or an expo or this mass of cannons and they wouldn't know they might just think there is a Star Relic sitting there. OR you could just send a Star Relic to a place where you could expand and they could think you have a base there but you really don't.

Good read, thank you very much
it'll be interesting to see how powerful the Star relic really is, i mean if it makes High templars seem like weak spellcasters - oh god :o

BIG THANX to Senator for the find :)

Man, talk about ungrateful. Why don't you just not read it and get lost?

Thanks for a great read Senator. Ignore this loser.

Thanx for flamin on me. -2 Power, great love forum trolls like you too guys...

Anyway I suppose you quite misunderstood me.

I was not blaming the Poster a.k.a. Senator for quality of pictures... As he said he just found em.

I was just talking about general situation of low quality scans... My old 2002, HP scanner can do way better than that.

cool , thx for the pics

I am huge fan of SC, played it back when it was released and still playin it now and again.

Did I say anything about the graphics of SC2??? None, 3 GHz CPU, Radeon X900 it is quite common nowerdays :)

Anyway I LOVE the grapichcs of SC2, a bit cartoonish but still looks great.

And the only reason, I was asking for higher quality scans is that I was going to create a PDF file, for make it easier to read for other ppl and post it...

Just 1 simple request, next time you start screaming and waving your bannanas. Please read it all, and read it carefully.

Does this mean the game is now officially in alpha?

The article mentions alpha multiple times.Â* It seems that PC gamer was able to get its hands on more exclusive info for this article that's unreleased else where, so I am inclined to not just simply overlook them mentioning alpha.

paragon
06-25-2007, 05:02 PM
I thought they said or implied that it was in Alpha during the original announcement.

"Alpha

The alpha version of a product still awaits full testing of all its functionality and is not feature complete, but satisfies all the software requirements. As the first major stage in the release lifecycle, it is named after alpha, the first letter in the Greek alphabet. Alpha level software can be considered approximately 35% complete, and typically includes temporary material and multiple product-breaking issues.

The alpha build of the software is the build delivered to the software testers, that is persons different from the programmers, but usually internal to the organization or community that develops the software. In a rush to market, more and more companies are engaging external customers or value-chain partners in their alpha testing phase. This allows more extensive usability testing during the alpha phase.

In the first phase of testing, developers generally test the software using white box techniques. Additional validation is then performed using black box or grey box techniques, by another dedicated testing team, sometimes concurrently. Moving to black box testing inside the organization is known as alpha release." - Wikipedia article on software development cycle.

I ask because else where, Blizzard said they are not even at internal alpha yet.

paragon

actually on one of the pages of the Games for Windows one it says they are in pre-alpha. or not in alpha yet.

Any news of whether they'll want to recruit test players?

paragon
06-25-2007, 11:22 PM
I think they are just using pro players to do that. Which means it should be pretty balanced right out of the gate.

shirija
06-25-2007, 11:33 PM
That might not be true, unless blizzard want to abandon originality and have established building and unit routs to go right out of production. I have always had a problem with the limited race versus race matchups that are done by Warcraft 3 pros. New methods are rarely coming up and it usually comes down to micromanagement instead of originality. Having normal players test it is giving the average player a chance to come up with fun ways to play that do not necessarily carve out worn paths to victory.

drewcbarnard

I believe that the beta is most important in the final testing of this epic masterpiece. "Blizzard consulted with top competitive SC and WCIII players from Korea for the balance and design process." according to PC Gamer. It is the balance between the three races that is key to this game and without it being near-perfect, SC2 will not surpass it's successful predecessor.

I don't know if those are your words or that of PC Gamer.Â* In any case, it is an arrogant statement that isn't saying much in the first place.

No one knows enough at this point to make any comments of that nature, not even Blizzard.Â* No one can look at the history of gaming and see into the infinite future to say what perfect is, or even what near-perfect is.Â* You can only describe perfection by relativity.

Things will turn out how they turn out.Â* Close to perfection or not, whether SC2 surpasses its predecessor has nothing to do with it.Â* Whether SC2 will beat out SC1 is anyone's guess.Â* But how I see it, it'll just be the "rightful heir."

drewcbarnard
06-26-2007, 10:18 PM
You're right. Things will turn out how they turn out, and I agree that SC2 will be a rightful heir. It is all subjective and speculative as to what someone thinks will make SC2 awesome. As for the statement, I feel that I meant for it to sound more opinionated rather than arrogant, I apologize for your confusion. Nevertheless, I hope it turns out to be as great as it sounds thus far.
