I use "black sheep wall" a lot when testing maps, I need to see how the computers are handling the map, because they are often very good at finding basic problems due to the fact that they are absolute retards.

I only use cheats when I set myself up in situations, and then usually only black sheep wall and show me the money. I like to do things like see if I can beat 7 allied CPU zerg players. ;D

I never cheat at all when playing through campaign mode the first time, but after that I enjoy fiddiling about, and seeing other ways I can mess around.

just like many people, i think i pretty much use black sheep wall everytime i play campaign or against comp, because i like to see what's going on across the whole map

Yeah, i like using cheats to have fun too. Experiment with crazy stuff like I used mind control and got all 3 races and built entire army of everything. Then attacked and won! .. and then realized I wasted a lot of time because it wasn't as cool as I thought it'd be

I did use them sometimes, really rarely... still rarely do... only when I was playing the Campaign just now, specifically Terran 10 of the Original Campaign, trying to get a feel for the storyline again in anticipation of StarCraft 2, I waited too long and there wasn't a thing I could do anymore to win, and I got so frustrated I went Ophelia and There is no cow level... I did it again in that one Zerg level where you're attacking a higher grounded Terran camp that's just full of Siege Tanks deployed in Siege Mode and backed up by Bunkers, and I went all ground and all out of resources to change it, and I didn't feel like trying again to change my strategy to more air attacks... so I did it again. But these are levels I finished already, without cheating, so I don't feel as bad about it anymore... 'sides, I mainly did it for the storyline anyway. Maybe when I'm done with that, I'll do them again just for completeness. Honest completeness, that is.

You're right, of course... actually, this is also what I did another time, but it was with a map I already won, because in this case I specifically wanted to see what they said at the end. Didn't think of it at that time though... didn't even think of it until now, so thanks for the advice!

I use cheats like Neon, for map making. When your looking for a trigger that is broken, but you don't know when, you don't have time to watch your base. So they help alot. It also helps simply to see if everything works properly, so you can play another game while keeping an eye on things.

...due to the fact that they are absolute retards.

Hahahaha I agree with that.

I really only use cheats when I'm either bored of a CPU practice match, or (after having done the level) to win a campaign mission i hate.

There are two instances where I allow myself to use cheats in any game, and Starcraft is no exception.

1 - Mapmaking - As many other members have noted, using cheats can be very helpful to perfect your map. Not to mention, after playing the scenario fifty bazillion times, it can get kind of annoying to test out without cheats. However, when all is said and done, I need to make sure the map is possible without cheats.

2 - After Victory - In the single player mode, I allow myself to cheat only when I have already beaten the mission legitimately. No matter how frustrating the map is, I don't cheat until I beat it. Of course, after I have beaten a mission it is pretty fun to mass nukes or play with no care by cheating.

I never cheat and I never set the difficulty below average because if I did either of that, the game wouldn't be fun but a waste of time :D It's also more rewarding when you beat a hard part of the game.

I rarely use cheats, except the radio free zerg one, which shouldn't even be considered a cheat, it just plays a song.

Oh and there are a lot more cheats then there are on that list.

I only cheat when I am testing something, or goofing off against a bunch of computers. I rarely use cheats other than black sheep wall, though.

Actually, now that I think about it, because I have had to reinstall SC on several occasions, I actually did cheat to quickly unlock all the campaign levels again.

thats all I really do, if I don't want to play all the way through the game.

I use they gathering to make hallucination armies, but if I'm in a sticky situation i will use power overwhelming. When I'm beginning I usually use show me the money. I almost never use black sheep wall, unless it's a big map.

I use cheats, to observe the Computers actions for fun, but it changes their strategy (Black sheep wall does too) And what does "man over game" do I never heard of it. You also missed Medieval man. I think.

I don't see how you need cheats to beat a 1v1 AI.

Way too easy to zerg rush.

I dislike 1v1

I would only use cheats to fix a make(because i'm a big time map maker) or if i'm playing the map and the computer dose something soo freaking odd that it pisses me off. I had made a custom mission once and it was terrans vs zerg. the mission was to save the ion cannon surrounded by zerg. they had infested terrans and 2 infested command centers. for some odd ball reson the first attack force witch is almost always 6 zerglings was insted 4 hydras and a hole freaking bunch of infested terrans witch ran my door over and cleared half my base.....i used cheats to get back up but thats about it.

When I play a 1vs7 game, 1 is me, I do the cheat power overwhelming and I send a couple of units to a choke point to my base. I use those units as tankers and every single army picks on them. Then when there are already so much enemy units in the area, I nuke the place. ;D

Oh glorious chaos!!!

DarkTemplol
12-29-2007, 02:45 AM
Lmao, I'm gonna have to try that.

LOL. Try it. It's nice to watch. ;)

I sometimes use power overwhelming to infest a command center and drop some infested terran bombs on enemy bases.

I just had a thought.

Power Overwhelming
Infested Terransx96
Overlordsx12
Load 8 into each Ovie.
Drop at random in enemies base.
Watch the funnies ensue! :D

Rex

Also don't forget to keep an eye on them, the splash may kill like one or two of them, which means you have less :)

L89

Meh, I only use "power overwhelming" when I want to click through the units to hear their comments.

lolz, i saw firsthand when josh choked one spot on a 1vs 7 match, then he LOL'd and i was asking why, then he said "just watch", before i knew it, the nuke went off, i felt bad for the units that died in the nuke,
so i turned off his pc :P hahahha, LOLz josh, we should play LAN sometime again, we havent played 1 on 1 in a while

Ahahaha /agree.. Exactly what I do all the time. Its not really a cheat when you think about it. Alot of RTS games that are out now have the option of having the map revealed. I suppose though having it unrevealed leaves suspense which makes the game all the better. But for like a practice game vs some computers? Pfft, Black Sheep Wall FTW.

To tell You the truth YES only ' show me the money ' one time if its four or more players against me.

The gathering cheat is the best actually....especially with a Dark Archon Mind Contolling everything. With infinite amount of energy, Mind Control owns all! 1 Dark Archon turning all of of their enemies unit against themselves!!! What is more satisfying than having the enemies killing themselves while just standing there watching the battle? So fun...

Then I also build Terran and Zerg tech....Too good to be true....Its way better than broodling ;D

no cheating here, I used to do it, but not in about a decade or so. I'd rather learn how to win playing the game as it's meant to be played

i didnt cheat the first time when i played through the game, and now i only cheat every so often, usually black sheep wall, just to watch how the computer organize its base and army.

tho, just as rex said on page two, i notice that the computer will sometimes react in a odd fashion, the most common one i keep on seeing is on the main story vs protoss, after turning on black sheep wall, the computer will send two, always two, high templars to storm your units.
i always thought that blizzard programed that, because they dislike cheaters.

Protoss Kills Infinitely

i used to ALWAYS use cheats but now I've mostly grown out of them with the exception of black sheep wall, and this will sound silly, i am sort of afraid of an enemy just getting a huge army without me knowing about it and then going against my fairly small army but they usually dont get through my defenses because im a turtle.

Rex

It sounds funny, but try to be brave and say "its a game who cares". I used to be scared I will die, and its all because of cheats that get you used to that. Out grow it and you'll be fine.

Edit: Best way to out grow it is playing 2v2 or 2v2 comps
