Your favourite race from starcraft 1

i think my favourite is Protoss because they are tough, powerful and technologically advanced. i 1st fell in love with protoss when i found out that i only have to warp the buildings in and then it'll build by itself. and their buildings go up heaps fast too because the health and shield constructs together at the same time.
but i ist played protoss i always rely heavily on photon cannons, i still rely on them now but i learnt to use units to back it up. and who doesn't love the carrier with all those CRAZY interceptors whoozing everywhere?

but i always run out of resources on the whole map in the end when i use protoss and still unable to defeat my opponent, it gets very frustrating. So i most use protoss when i play money maps. otherwise on non-money maps i tend to use zerg.

and i love zerg too..............................for some reason i just hate terran........................

I love zerg. you can create huge armies in an instant with a few hatcheries. They are cheap to produce too though a little weak on the armour.

Still, I played them about 60% of the time. The rest is 30% toss and 10% terran. Terran are hard to play with. People say they are the beginners race but I think it is very difficult to build strong armies with them!

i actually played warcraft 2 before starcraft
and because of my impressions from WC2 that all races are the same, i was very shocked at how the zerg produces units.
my 1st reaction was like WHAT THE HELL???. then i thought their method of production is VERY unique.

but the worst thing at the beginning of the game using zerg is not sure whether to use those precious larvae to morph drones or zerglings. then suddenly they throw u a "spawn more overlords" ARRRGGGHHHHH

But seriously, I go Protoss about 80% of the time. Best combo ever: Carriers and Reavers Recalled by a fleet of Arbiters. Expensive, but never fails. Ever.

Yes, protoss will win hands down. if you take a look at the top korean players, you'll see that nearly all of them use protoss as their main race. And lurkers are excellent units ;p especially against marines. they wipe em all out like flies!

There's just something missing about the prottoss. The terran have the best defence and aircraft. i just like the terran units like the tank, battlecruiser, ghost. Terran are easier to play. i find it hard to attack with prottoss.

Fine.i too can think of ways to counter it but they their 85% impossible to get close to once you have about a dozen tanks, vultures fully loaded with mine and Goliaths and maybe add 1 science vessel. ;D You can see a technique close to this in the match of iloveoov vs. pnzlegend. :D

I dont think emp is further. And also, he said ONE science vessel. health 200. Energy 200 tot 250. As long as energy is above 200 he's toast :D

I never have science vessels with 200 energy. I just go and use them as they are built, maybe let them charge up to 150 then fire irradiate/EMP

Besides they are climatic faction in this game (what is suprising...in other games terrans are just a dumbf***s). Only in SC and Freespace i felt playing as true humans, not a human-like dolls.

I got to really say I like all the races, but I'm only good at Zerg, so I went with Zerg. I think each has their specials. The only thing I hate about Zerg is that they are weak on life and they are not that strong. I like Protoss too, but I think they are too expensive. Terran I think take too much time to make a lot of good units I think lol. All three races are balanced so each one is good. When I use Zerg and enemy got carriers and etc. that hit air I bring a whole mass of overlords for distraction either hydras too or mutalisks. Protoss I guess I just go dragoons and zealots in the beginning and carriers if it carries on too far. I use to play Protoss all the time, but for some reason I'm better at Zerg then Protoss lol. Terran I barely play, I'm too slow to play them lol, but they are good. lol This made me want to play I might play Protoss soon haha.

Darth Verg, It is true that the zerg are least likely to run out of resources. that's why i always use zerg if I'm not playing money map. On money map however we can go carrier-crazy, not as effective on terrans cos of lockdown.

Zerg can also be very powerful if your playing money map. I often use 36 guardians, 12 devourers and 2 overlords that embark on a trial of mindless destruction. But don't use this against protoss cos they got the psionic storm. It works very very well on terran. :)

Protoss for me, love micro skillz! ;D. But.. have to say.. that does distract me from the important factor of actually building units, lol. Rarely use carriers, but thats because its very rare for me to either survive to that point or I kill the person/people beforehand. Reaver drops FTW! kills mass workers for very little effort. Against zerg I like to use corsairs to take out overlords and stop their unit production. Prices are a bit expensive I guess, but as long as you have enough probes and enough multi's then its not neccessarily a big problem. Also Protoss are the only team which can build all the units in the whole game in the normal game, granted this has probably happened in less than 0.0000001% of games.

me i could not pick one race because i love the massing power of the Zerg just sending waves and waves of Zerg to just wipe your enemy from existence or the god like defense of the protoss or offensive possibilities of there air i just love them and then the destructive power of the nukes and siege tanks from Terran to destroy even the amazing defense of the protoss or (as I've seen quite often) the suicidal destruction of your self and the enemy army and oh how many other things for each race there is no way i could pick just one race

When faced with human opponents, I prefer to use Protoss, because I am just overall better with them, while I still haven't mastered the art of the Cerebrate. ;)

No i think i love it beccause they just adapt to the situation in every moment, but they have a great problem THE VESPENOM GAS(sorry my english), when you wnat to see a thousan of zerglings being destroyed by your siege tanks it´s lovely, but it´s slow they have to has medics on theyr back every time in game.

The very first time I played SC, i fell in love with the Protoss almost straight away (although that was a while back now, and i was much younger...). Their pure energy and their unbelievable coolness....

But when i've gone back to playing SC more recently (especially since the announcement of SC2 :P ) My opinion has been totally changed by the terran's badass BADASSNESS. Sure I could worry about which I can play better with, or which has the best this that and the other... but I just play starcraft for fun. The story behind it is what got me into the game in the first place! And the Terran beat ALL the other races in just sheer attitude. I mean, listen to their quotes everytime you click on one! Blizzard gave them the best sense of humour by farrr...
Never been that attracted to the zerg, although zerglilngs are pretty cool in HUGE swarms...
Ahhh the Terran... think i'll go play them now...

OR if im playing as zerg ill mass lings, surround and burrow by mineral fields and wait for the enemy to come. Then, when i get the cash, ill have the ability to take the area for myself.

my toss strategy's suck. I cant do anything good in the original, and can only effectivly use dark templars in BW. and even then i ill lose horribly in the end.

Yeah I had once where the structures in my base are mostly destroyed by my own siege tanks and spider mines when my enemy recalled masses of dragoons into my base. The mine should at least have some intelligence to detonate as far away as our own structures as possible.

I really like playing as Terran especially in island maps where each player starts in a single island, in this type of map players often put more emphasis on air units rather than ground and in midgame players should acquire as much island as possible for resources and base expansion, I used to build fleets of powerful battlecruisers with additional support units, I find this effective even against skilled opponents

Terrans are great for defense, one thing they lack though is an effective counter for mass guardian + devourer. Because everytime I play as Zerg and verse against Terrans, this is how i win :D

No. Against Dev-Guard combo they have a counter: Sciene Vessels and Irradiation. That kills both of theme very quick. Gave theme some Valkiries to finished a job, and the Guard-Dev goes animal food.

stim packed marines will do the job economically, so you'll win the war of attrition, being that you have the cheaper units. you'll die more(more unit casualties), but oh well.

thirdly we have EMP,irridate, lockdown, and dont forget flare/restoration.

well microing really helps. also, if you decide to play zerg, BASE EXPANSION PWNS.
go scout with 2 'lings, find other mineral patches, deploy at least 2 hatcheries while making a hydra den, then start massing out hydras like crazy

personally my favorite is zerg, they are easy to manage and easy to micro, low food cost and low expansion cost. i also know pretty much every hotkey with them, so playing terran or protoss just makes me feel gimp :(

I like all the 3 races... that´s the main advantage when you play a multiplayer game with other people... they don´t have a clue of what to expect... a zergling rush,,, a zealot deadly kind-of rush... or a cloaked wraith attack,, or any kind of attack..you choose.

I think I prefer playin´ with terrans,,, because they have the ultimate spy technology... the comsat station... they can discover your plans with that... but you kwon,, that´s just my opinion.

And the nuclear launch,, it can be a real offensive-defensive strategy,,, you can bluff if you have one missile,,, and it´s funny how people starts to check their units, bases, expansions, serching for the tiny red spot that brings hell´

well, when i first started playing when i was like ten so i thought that the protoss was the best race because they looked cool, but now i can see that the otther two races can be extremly powerful by aplying a bit of strategy. The terrans can be extremly usefull with their floating buildings and wide vrange of units, plus the lack of restrictions on where your buildings can be located. the zerg can create a large army extremly quick by constructing multiple units at the hatchery and the building, being alive. can regenerate automatically. And the protoss still has its charm with its strong units and ability to create multiple building at once with one probe. with all of the pros and cons of the differing races i still think that the protoss are my favorite, but hey that might change at any time.,

Use supply depots effectively to block off things and put bunkers behind them. You wont get more units that both combined in the beginning so don't even try to win quick by shear strength of arms. Get to tanks quick as you can without sacrificing your defense then you should be able to hold them off for a bit. Keep building up units then go for what you are strong in. Make good combinations (I like Wraiths/tanks/marines with a few sci vessels in there) but you can go with whatever you'd like.

Well the Confederate was quite evil if not more than the Sons of Korhal.

Marines were either murderers, rapers, etc.. (mean people :<) or they used an easier way to afford them, go on Terran planets with Dropship, capture some guys, brainwash them to make them think Zerg attacked their town and they saved the guy, leaving them with a big desire to kill some zergs. 90% of the marines were brainwashed and some were literally robots, having no emotions whatsoever and just listening to what their Commander said.

Then there were the ghosts, yeah, Ghosts were trained since youth and their final exam was at their pre-teen ages (For example Jim Raynor's son which was 12 when he did his final exam). The exam consist of a guy that pull out a gun and put it on your head and you have to kill him before he kills you, if you kill him you become a ghost, Jim's son failed.

And finally (not really) they used psi emitters to lure zerg into Terrans planets to see if the psis do work (and of course they save a bit of the citizens to be heroes and let the rest to die).

So yeah the Confederate are pretty much evil and the Sons of Korhal are bad too, but not as bad as the Condeferate. UED ftw.

As my name implies, I like the protoss the best. I play them around 85% of the time. I use the Zealots more than i need to, and don't rely on the photon cannons. I am glad to hear that the photon cannons are movable in Starcraft 2 however. I love the protoss mainly because of what they are. I liked Tassadar. The protoss are just awesome technologically enhanced religious warriors. What they lack in speed and numbers, they make up for in sheer power and strength. (And endurance too)

i played sc for a long time and use to only play toss
i started gitting into zerg when i ferst axxadently picked random and ended up winning with a huge mass of zerglings from like 6 hatcherys i belt 4 mins into the game lol so i got more experinced with them got kinda mad the second tim e i played zerg cuz i got killed and i ended up makeing like 10 thousanmd hatcherys in my spreadbase ware i excaped my death and riped up the map
then the therd time i got bsed as zerg and won becuse of the production On a fastest lol

Learned how powerfull Teran Goliaths and tanks are togheather after tanks Killed wave after wave of hydras and zerglings and somehow i got pwnt... Sholda got gards so i laurned Teran after that Did the whole Lift ur Barix Fly it over the gap and make firebats thing on the Moneymaps.... no one ever expected it becuse they allways forget people can lift Buildings.. Or thy think we wont do it becuse we wont take advantage of the Option...

Mine is the Terran because it is with them I started to play in the demo. And I liked the music too there. Thank to the Siege Tank I found something revolutionary for me 8 years ago. I remember thanks to the demo I RAN to the shop, in November 98, to buy the full version of the game, with my brother's money he gave to me. It was dark and cold outside ! But how joyful I was ! :)

I personally like the Terran faction the best. Good all around race, and tbh I like their units the best. Protoss I am horrid with, I tend to mass lots and get my butt kicked. Marines and Medics early game can go along way. Get some siege tanks after that, and finally some BC's thats the way to go in my opinion.

I first really lived the protoss and really got to use them well, but later I started using the terran a lot and became better at using them. And these days I'll use those two about 50% of the time each. I rarely if ever use the zerg at all. Apart from the missions. I'm really not good at using them.

But I'd have to say my favourite would have to be the protoss just over the terran. Just cause I'm so much better at utilising a few powerful units over a weak swarm. Also I liked the fact a protoss building builds itself and the worker then after the initial warp in can be used for something else. That to me was the clincher.

i like the zerg mechanics

1 the sunkens have 300 health and a 40 attack - its hard to kill em and i mass them in groups of 7

2 ZERGLINGS! i love zerglings! they are sooo cheap but its hard to beat a zergling when you want to kill buildings quickly

3 hydras - in my opinion (and probably yours) the most versatile unit in starcraft they can wipe out any army because of their continently high attack to cost ratio

4 building units - the building units in groups of three is one of the most helpful points of the zerg - no one can repel an attack quite like the zerg (assuming your have enough resources)

5 cool units - they look cool! the hydra runs in the funniest way! it kinda looks like a worm with a head

6 the ultra - one of the best units to do a drop with! one you drop them they are hard to kill and deal a lot of damage fast (works very well with 8 overlords^^)

7 gaurdians - 5 can kill a computers base with ease and without worry

8 scourges - carrier has not arrived

9 mutas - when in doubt grab a handful of mutas and hydras

10 every building has an upgrade or 3 (except the sunken / spore / creep colonies)

I loved protoss since I begun playing Starcraft. They perfectly fit my style, though sometimes I play Terran and Zerg too. As another reason, they are very efficient at building buildings, and I have always liked to bring down carriers, hence my avatar being a carrier's wireframe ;)

I like the Terrans. Many different ways to take on a situation, and versatile. plus, they have the best defence in the game. Nothing is more satisfying than watching an opponent suicide his entire army trying to charge your 12 Siege Tanks and 2 Bunkers.

I like the zerg and toss, I don't care too much for the terrans. For the zerg, I love to mass defilers/hydra to attack and defilers/lurkers for base ground defence with spore colonies for air defence and detection.

For toss, either carrier/observer or zealot/reaver are my favorite strategies.
