if carriers fits in it.. this things must be freakin huge. i think warp rays and the tempest are almost as big as the carriers.

I think the new Stargates are very cool looking, the animation is just awsome. Those effects are great!

Wow, that animation is fantastic, you can see the invisible pentagon that goes through it. It looks like they're actually building invisibility.

Is that a youtube videos? Because those ones are blocked, would explain why it isn't working for me... but it could be my computer/connection who is to blame.

when I see this animation I have an Idea .. Some of you propobly remember the cheat "operation cwal" do you think that the animation will be like 10x faster while using a cheat wyth a simiular efect ?

this stargate looks very innovative. nice and cool animations too. blizzard is the best when it comes to details.

texture needs detail like dirt and grime and plating. The animation and lighting is good though.

Paragon that would be more fitting for Terran stuff not the Protoss. All of their stuff is smooth, shiny, and artistic.

paragon
06-23-2007, 08:13 PM
You can have both. I textured and/or modeled almost every StarCraft 1 Protoss building. They are both shiny and dirty.

No... because they are low poly for Project Revolution not high poly. If I had an unlimited number of polygons to use like Breeze then they would be that good. Mine are between 300-600 polygons. His are tens of thousands of polygons.

yes protoss structures should always look brand new.

if we are playing on snow environment i hope snow details will be placed on structures too like in warcraft 3. i hope there is a sand storm effect on the dessert environment, and there are hills all over it (its 3d already, anyway you can't build on top of it ofcourse.)

the 3d models of starcraft are sharp and smooth unlike in warcraft 3, you can still see some boxes on its models.

Good job, hands up to Blizzard, agian they take a simple thing and make it a work of art. StarGate looks great.

Metal has texture. Protoss things are made of metal. But they have no actual texture its just completely smooth and cheap looking.

Well for all we know they may use some other, unknown-to-man material that differs from metal in that way. I dunno.

The Stargate looks shorter than Starcraft 1, but still looks more awesome! The animations also beats the original.

paragon
06-25-2007, 04:01 AM
Well of course the animation beats the first one. They had very limiting technology back then. I'm sure every animation will be a lot better in SC2. I mean most of the buildings either had blinking lights or nothing. The only thing really creative was some of the Zerg animations but that was generally just the building animation and most (all?) research animations were just the building doing nothing.

i don't want to know how many thousands of frames are in that animation. Starcraft II's a gonna be intense

paragon
06-25-2007, 04:23 PM
Well particles and movement (which these things use) are automated once you set the start and end point and the duration so they are actually pretty easy to do regardless of the number of frames.

I'm guessing you won't actually SEE the ship getting warped in and only the unit popping out like in the previous blizzard games?

zeratul11
06-25-2007, 11:08 PM
if protoss air units can warp in and goes out from the stargate.

i hope we can also see units coming out from the war factory like siege tanks or vultures. or is the war factory too small.

Yeah that seems to be the case. Sure tons of games have shown you the unit in production but maybe they don't want your enemy to know what you are making and how far along it is.

i don't like units to be just popping out. we should see them warp in or comes out from structures. like scv come out from the command center entrance gate etc. that would be cool. zerg has no problem with this, we can see them mutate and get out from the eggs.

and paragon the rate of your posting is super fast (well you beat me in a blink of an eye), anyway i think you can catch up with coalescene and mc2 sooner. goodluck.

Though since this is starcraft, unit production is much more quantity based. Disruption of unit might just be a nice addition strategically. Imagine buildings in warcraft 3, you see a tower being built, you know to make it a priority to kill it because you sense the threat and the advantage to killing it while it's still vulnerable. Now imagine if you see a mothership being built (if this is where it's built), wouldn't it be worth it to suicide a few ooooh say mutas, to kill it so you don't have to deal with it after completion? This is also a nice reward for constant scouting!

you can always cancel the training of units or building of structures if you are underattack.

the animations of units coming out or warp from structures is just a few seconds (may be about 2 seconds) not that it will affect the game that much.

Seems like motherships get warped in rather than built (like it was in the gameplay vid) of course that could have just been for the gameplay vid but there didn't seem to be any pylon field there.

zeratul11
06-25-2007, 11:48 PM
maybe you can summon the mothership anywhere on the battlefied. miners will easily be killed.

burkid
06-26-2007, 03:15 AM
that would be too unbalanced, you could just pop a mothership in the middle of their base and bypass most of their defenses

zeratul11
06-26-2007, 10:01 AM
yes that would be unfair, maybe they can only be summon in pylon fields.

burkid
06-26-2007, 02:48 PM
in the gameplay preview, they warped the mothership in from no where, but then the mothership was also invurnerable for most of the time it was there to make the preview more exciting.

the summoning animation is too fast. i hope they delay it a little bit maybe for about 3-5 seconds. its a huge powerful unit after all.

I doubt it would be a starport unit though. Maybe it has it's own building or maybe it is like a call down but has to be called down in pylon range. Or maybe anywhere but it is warped in so it is vulnerable when it is being built and the build time in the gameplay video was just sped up a lot so you wouldn't want to have it built somewhere you couldn't easily protect.
