In about a month once I have paid for my classes and paychecks have been saved up, I will be buying a new computer, the current stats for what I want are as goes

Processor: Duo Core 2 - 2.33Ghz
Memory: 3GB
HDD: 500GB
GFX Card: RAdeon 2400? 256MB Pro I think that was the model...lol
19" LCD Screen!
Windows XP Pro (hate vista nao)

I think thats all and the best warranty u can get, Like 4 years or something haha...Just cause I get even bigger discount for having that which makes it cheaper than getting it without the warranty :good:

Anyways hopefully by the time I do get to buy it they have something a bit better even...

Not buying it just for SC2 haha, my laptop can handle sc2 more for school but hey having a screen that big for sc2? cant complain ;)

I just hope my current configuration will be able to run Starcraft 2 without problems: 2400+MHz, Ati Radeon 9600 (128MB), 1Gb RAM. I don't want to make changes to the PC but if I won't be able to play the game, I will

Aka thats not enought, you will "probaly" need 256 mb grafic card minimum.

@ Sakouju, with a processor of that speed, there's no reason for you to need 3 GB of RAM. I would stick with 2 GB at maxmum.

@ Aka , while your video card should do the job (but not particularly well, I would also suggest a 256 MB card), you will most likely need a quicker processor.

Sounds like my comp might not be able to run it then......I have a 128 Graphics card, and only 1600 MHZProcessor speed...

If I can't run it, it will be years before I will be able to buy a new comp(I have no money to upgrade), and by that time, only really good players will be laying it.

Man, I just got depressed typing this...

Your graphics card sounds okay, but your CPU hurts bad. I feel so bad for you. :P

Well....this is what I get for trying to save some money for college by buying a cheeper comp...

I've lost a lot of my interest in this forum.....whats the point of explaining my ideas in a game I'll never be able to play.......

Try the lottery. And some of your friends must have a good enough PC.

No one in my family has ever won anything.

As for friends, my social life sucks. I practically gave up trying to make friends years ago, I rarely ever fit in with ppl, and the only thing I ever felt I got out of friendship was the misery of having to leave them when I had to move every few years due to my dad being in the military.

Hence why I hate the military, and would never join it, even if I was physically acceptable(I'm partially deaf).

Well, then. It's always possible SC2 won't be released until after you graduate from college...

lol, that's 4-5 years from now, not sure you want to wait that long.

I might be able to play on lowest settings...but then b-net would probably lag like hell.

All I can do is pray to God and hope it will miraculously work on my computer.

I think you'll be able to play it, just on lower settings, but with all that "you'll be able to play on any PC made in last five years" advertising, that's gotta mean something dammit!

I'm sure you'll play it just fine :good:

thx, I hope I can play it, else the time I spent here will have felt wasted.(low setting is better than nothing)

That would be unbearable depressing since I know people here better than people in my dorms, I've always been extremely anti-social in RL, this forum is the first time I've actually felt popular.

Also, what do you mean by that advertising? I've never seen anything about it.

I've seen it... somewhere...
It's in seradin's summary here: http://www.starcraft2forum.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=47&topic=6528.0
But I'm pretty sure it's not the first time I've read about it

Also sc2forums said once that you should be able to run sc2 on low if your PC can run warcraft 3

Mee thats crap really, my laptop was able to run Warcraft 3 (256MB RAM, shared grafic card (16mb + shared memory)). You think that the laptop will be able to tun SC2?

Meee

How would he know?
I don't think so though, imo if that's true at all, you'd have to be able to run warcraft 3 at max settings on some of the bigger maps without any problem. Maybe not the the biggest ones, but still.

And that's to run SC2 on lower settings.

Yeah: max Warcraft 3, 8 player map, no lag = Low setting, Starcraft online, 1vs1!?

Meee

That's how I see it, though depending on optimalization it may be less drastical difference

furrer
03-17-2008, 12:20 PM
Or an even bigger diffrence!?
Starcraft 2 is still in alpha, and we all know, how Starcraft looked in alpha...

Let's just see where the system requirements end up landing and we'll work from there.

But you should be able to purchase a computer that can run it for like $300. You don't think you can come up with that?

College has sapped all the money I've been saving, and my dad is retireing this year, so I can't expect any money from there.

if your gfx card is pci express just upgrade to a new one for like $250 or so, and add some ram. CPU cant really do anything but if those are upgraded may help...
anyways I sent my laptop in for repairs, hopefully everything gets fixed alright, they said it should be ready by the 27...so far away lol D:

hmm.. well since the Starcraft 2 has havox physics in it, the cpu will need to do some work now. the graphics card will be doing some of the rendering of other stuff so yea. cpu here is also as important as the graphics card in this playing field, unlike crysis which is graphics intensive.
