Its not going to be outdated when WoW:WotLK is coming out
Yeah WotLK, will definitely re-invigorate WOW; however, the game could do with a graphics update! It still looks okey, but it could look great with some small adjustments.
Warhammer might be first serious competition for WoW, sure it won't take all the millions of players away, but will probably stand on it's own rather well

WoW deserves to be lower ranked than WC 1 and 2. I have more fun on the first two Warcraft games than I ever did on WoW.

lol, if ur going for realism, WoW's graphics were outdated before it was released, but blizzard and it's players like the cartoony look, as far as gameplay goes, i don't quite understand the fun of killing things that run at you and start smacking you over and over again.
so as a former DAoC (very nice PvP) player, im waiting for WAR (also very nice PvP). should be good =)

Feel free to be a punk, but direct towards others.
I was level 63 with a few alts before I quit. Would I have even made it to 40 without quitting if I really sucked?
Now piss off.

When StarGate Worlds comes out, then WoW will be outdated. Epics unreal engine on an MMO? Thats just rape.

ok ok ok willy, 64 is not bad. but compared to me i have a 70 with 3 different twinks lvl 39 and a upcoming 59. its not hard to lvl altho i'd have to admit the high lvl pvping fow WoW dose suck. Alot. the only fun time i have in WoW is when i play my twinks. Personaly when SC2 comes out i'm ganna quit playing WoW untill WOW:WotLK comes out.

Entirely Agreed.
World of Warcraft got boring in the first week.

There's not much wrong with WoW graphics. They might be able to be improved, but if they are places like Orgrimmar and other capital cities would become so laggy it's not funny.
As for gameplay, the exact same thing can be said about any game, bar none. In FPS's you just fire at other people over and over and over again, in RTS's, you just send units to your enemy's base, etc, etc. The point is that people who play each type of game, whether it's FPS's, RTS's or RPG's, all know that it's a lot more in depth than that.
I, for one, can't stand FPS's. They're just so repetitive. You spot someone, you shoot, you spot someone, you shoot, someone spots you, you get shot. If people think that WoW got boring after the first week or so, for me, FPS's didn't even last that long.

tahts what i really hate about MMO.
my friends cant be bothered getting better at RTS games (yes i tried many times to make em play sc and war3...they tried and failed and stopped). so they f**ken go for MMO games...which is f**king sad!!
you know why im annoyed at that?! cuz when were at school, theres nothing else to talk about...WoW is the only thing they have to talk about...and when i try changing the subjects...the atmosphere gets gay...sigh..
but yeah...i hate MMO..i cant stand it. i can stand RPG (final fantasy etc) and FPS and offcourse RTS =]
I can play most genres out there, some just get boring faster than others :p
As for FPS I liked single player tournament in UT and UT2k4, especially Assault mode where you had an actual goal, even if it was just 'blow this and that up'. Shame that they scrapped this mode in UT3. Playing with friends can make any game fun, even if I suck at FPS, camping at Redeemer spot on Morpheus was fun though ^^

I mean, the gameplay is boring because WoW is so focused on PvE, i think that PvP is very fun and i'll love to play an MMO with great PvP because every encounter is unique, unlike PvE
which is what i was trying to say, srry for leaving words out =(

WoW isnt out-dated, especially not when WotLK comes out.

You shouldn't have left DAoC if you like PvP/RvR

=(
im just waiting for WAR, DAoC is close to being dead, they'res still quite a few people playing, but they've had to cluster almost all the servers for RvR so that you can actually get a fight =P
That's too bad. WoW-yftying skill icons didn't help then? They were good as they were. Sure they weren't flashy and stuff, but you could easily tell how the attack works (for weapon styles), not it's hard to tell from what I've seen

The only problem is the prices. Prices, prices, prices. I tried playing for a while, then I realized that playing on an RP server with the name "Happyface" for a character doesnt help you at all.

I played WoW for 2 years and got 2 characters to 70 with number of different alts. Since patch 1.8.0 up to now. (currently I am waiting for WotLK and not palying) I barely played anything else except from some DotA or Counter-Strike. It is an awesome game and definetly worth the money. No other game kept me for so long and its probably not the end yet. Now on the topic:
WoW is definetly not outdated but it is degenerating. I mean come on! Its over 3 years up there and 10s of millions people play it, so ofcourse its gonna get old. However I dont think that WoW will die anytime soon. Many people are leaving but even more people are coming in so for now WoW is safe.
Warhammer will surely do some damage to WoW population. Personally I ignore warhammer but I understand that many people who like PvP will switch to Warhammer atleast for a while.
Is it going to do major damage to WoW? Propably not. Warhammer will surely be amazing PvP game, but overall its not that deep as WoW is. Its pointed our at specific part of the market unlike WoW which interests most people. The newcomers, hardcore raiders, casual PvPers and only real group disapearing will be the hardcore PvP.
Anyways with Starcraft II and Diablo III coming out Blizzard is nowhere near bankrupting. :)

Theres really only one thing i like about WoW: It made all the money for Starcraft 2 :P
WoW will at least survive 3 years more IMO!

I'll give it two.
And I wouldn't mind a Starcraft game that plays like Planet Side.

It'll last a lot longer than two years. World of WarCraft was still going strong when the Burning Crusade was released, and its popularity sky-rocketed after that. When Wrath of the Lich King is released, it'll get another huge boost, not to mention that Wrath of the Lich King has a lot more features than the Burning Crusade and normal World of WarCraft, so it'll probably take even longer to get old than the other two did.

I hate WoW with a passion, but no... It is not outdated, and probably wont be for a very very long time.

Why do you hate World of WarCraft? It's just like any other game, except it's much more popular. I can understand how someone wouldn't like it, as there are a fair few games that I don't like, but how can you hate it with a passion?

I pretty much hate all MMORPGs.
They make every student turn 5% dumber each year.
ItzaHexGor

That's a pretty generalised statement. World of WarCraft is just like any other game, just as addictive, just as grade-reducing. Saying that all World of WarCraft players get dumber is like saying that all Counter Strike players end up going on a massacre. It's an unfair generalisation for both sides, and it's really the other way around. World of WarCraft doesn't get people addicted, but people who are likely to get addicted to MMORPG's play it. People who play Counter Strike don't end up going on a massacre, but people who are likely to go on massacres would play it.
