If a Star Relic hovers above a group of resources, the enemy is always forced to wander, 'Is there an expansion right there?"
is the star relic cloaked or not?
if it isn't then wouldn't this strategy kick@$$;
have a star relic and observers(to anticloak scouts) above a resourse area with a couple of hullucinated units around the outside.
enemy sends raiding party inside.detectors find nothing but observers. suddenly phase prisms cut off their rear and pour out zealots, stalkers and immortals while Collosi sprint up from out of view and total annihiation!
yaay go my tactic!

Holy hells. If Phase Prism deployment counts as buildings, and Star Relic cloaks buildings....
Edited out quotes. Please read the forum rules and refrain from quoting unnecessarily.

Well wouldn't any cloaked unit/building be revealed by a detector? I'd think so.

Y'know what'll be an insane combo...using a stalker/ star relic combo. Cuz you could start outside the star relic range, shoot em, blink into star relic range, blink out again to some place behind em, so on and so forth. If you had 2 star relics with you....that'd be one of the most annoying things i can think of to do to a person :P

They could just blow up the star relic...

Doesn't it cloak units and buildings? So it doesn't matter if the mothership is a unit or a building... it's a unit by the way.

well you'd obviously need some anti-air...i know!
just have some phase cannons and pylons around the outside. makes it look more like a base anyway.
I think the Star Relic will be useful, but don't forget, it's probably going to be very high up the tech just like the Arbiters in the original SC.
By that time, everyone is going to have plenty of detectors and no one is going to attack without any sort of detection.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I don't think that cloaking buildings will be that useful, since like I mentioned, by the time you get Star Relics, the enemy will probably have plenty of detectors.

The phase prisms are probably easier to kill since it is a transport also. It sounds good but the Star Relic would prolly be way high up in the tech tree for it to have worked. Also the detectors can detect the buildings and players would target the star relic anyways and I highly doubt it would last long with a decent amount of anti-air.
How can you anti-cloak scouts anyways? rofl

Well, even if it isn't that useful in game, it'll be a fun ability to play with in the editor. Give a building that ability and also have it cloak itself - then you suddenly run into this massive city that you cant see so you keep having to walk around buildings that you cant see and some fire at you so you have to hire a detector or use some spell.

hmm... but the ability to cloak buildings would be extremely useful, because there are many covert missions (usually involving dark templar) to destroy outposts and primary buildings. just have a star relic floating around an outpost, and an observer/some other cloaking unit would be required to destroy it. all they would see would be a star-relic and a bunch of shimmers. furthermore, with the phase prism ability, you could make a drop on a base, wait for the enemy to send the units they were going to send, then pylon up the phaseprisms and bring in a star relic to cloak your units. By now ur opponent is probably watching some other offensive you hopefully commited while he was sending units to your drop. Your opponent wont realize his defensive maneuver cant see your drop until you have destroyed a considerable amount of buildings, along with the defense he sent after you.

star relic would be good cover for warp in.
although, there is clearly a shimmer of cloaked units like in starcraft (you can see it after the nukes go off and before the ghosts uncloak in the gameplay trailer) so if buildings shimmer too then it'd be pretty obvious that they're cloaked.

Excuse me but...what abilities do Star Relic have?

It is capable of cloaking units and buildings and when it dies, it will take everything with it. KABOOM! You can see more yourself by visiting this link @ http://www.starcraft2forum.org/forums/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=34. It's a gallery of Hi-Res scans brought to you by SC2 forum staff.

I always wanted the ability to transport my enemy’s army with my Arbiters in SC1. Wouldn’t that have been awesome to just fly over and zap their army in to a field of cannons? Or some island…. or lava. Hmmmm

I'm hoping for W3 cloaking for starcraft 2.

Star Relic will be awesome, block your entrance with buildings, cloak them so units can't pass and protect your Star Relic like a baby. The enemy won't be able to enter until he get alot of air/transports.

or until he gets a detector and blows your buildings up. I can promise you transports and detectors will be lower tech than the star relic
