Since Protoss and Zerg get some pretty neat stuff, we as humans, should be able to recycle material. I would like the idea of having a salvage ship on the battlefield collecting destroyed parts and debris allowing me to gain small bits of minerals and vespene gas from every destroyed unit in the radius of the Salvage ship.

haha yeah i like that idea, although it would be a problem getting the parts in the enemys base. but they should make it so after a while say 5-10 minutes the debris dissapears.

i would love to see this idea in sc2 but as i mentioned in the "ideas that shouldnt be implemented" thread i believe this idea should be reserved for CoH and supcom ^_^ :P

its gonna collect dead zerg corpses too? and what do terrans do with protoss material they find? i mean how will they recycle technology they dont understand? lol ` :o

anyways it should be able to cloak since itld be a nice target for any unit or yould have to sent a bunch of units with it everytime assuming build at the starport itld cost min+vespin you dont wanna lose 10 of these...

It wouldn't collect zerg corpses as they have no real material to reuse, if you do have a Salvage Ship on your side, you would still be collecting some minerals and vespene gas back from your destroyed units.

EDIT - I didn't see that topic but after searching for it Power, I would have to disagree! :D

eh i thought terrans don't recycle and lay waste to every planet they go to.

the debris sinks into the ground after like 10 seconds though.

hmm.. I dont think the terrans are interested in recycling on tha battlefield would be alittle troublesome however I think it would be kool if they had like a repair bay building or add-on would be nice to mass repair :)

ya but they cant repair air units or multiple things at once which is what I ment by saying mass-repair

Sure they can't repair multiple things at once but i'll be damned if I don't repair my expensive BCs after they tear through a base.

mass repair would just make the game more easier and convienient. Imagine having 10 critically damaged battlecruisers and just have it go to the repair place and leave them there. It's just too easy. It needs to balance out with other races by sacrificing mineral collecting to repair using SCVs. It'll be a huge advantage compared to zerg (heals very very slowly) and the protoss (only shield regeneration... and even that you need to build shield batteries and it has limited energy).

It would be nice if you could sell/destroy structures and units you don't want anymore. But this isn't SupCom so no to your idea.

This is true. They mine a planet until it's resources are exhausted and then they go to the next one.

I believe Terrans are also opportunists and with that said, who wouldn't want to reuse material that has already been crafted? It's true that Terrans are resource hungry, however I would think that the conflict zone is deprived by resources as all three races are extracting the minerals and gas. So wouldn't the Terrans think about it? It would definitely save time and resources.

yes, till they lose the resource war cause they're too busy being environmentally efficient

i think the terran should get helicopters that shoot out homing missles that make the zerglings cry.

This is why they have salvage yards (like the ones that Kerrigan said Mengsk was raiding to build his new fleet). They have contractors come in and pick the stuff up after the battle is over. You can't be doing that stuff in the middle of battle, someone could get killed.

not even a hybrid :O
it will have like 5 health because it short circuits from any damage

Who said they are being environmentally friendly? Is it because you usually associate the term "recycle" with the environment? The recycle I am talking about is about reusing parts.

What do the contractors use to salvage the remains? And why not have the Salvage ship's collection as a passive ability? I'm sure Blizzard can make small animations of little drones collecting parts in a certain radius. Look at the Orc's pillage, it does not actually show them stealing does it?

If you could take into account what I said earlier, I think a Salvage ship would be a great addition.

Don't you remember the opening cinematic of starcraft where the salvagers get obliterated by the protoss? They use space ships and stuff.

It would just be another idea from WC3 being implemented into SC2, if you have played WC3, the undead have Meat Wagons, which collect corpses from the battle field for later uses such as healing, reanimating for battle, launching disease into enemy troops and to be used as siege weapons.

Its obviously different, but it has the same general idea, im not saying I dont like the idea, but it just seems repetitive.

EDIT: Corrected loads of typos.

And how did the Meat Wagon fair? Was it good? What's wrong with using a good idea again? I think it would be neat to have Blizzard implementing things that were successful in WarCraft 3 into StarCraft 2. It makes our game play more enjoyable. Besides, StarCraft 2 looks like it uses the WarCraft 3 game engine anyway.

Actually it was very useful for the undead, nothing it wrong with the idea as I said. But the meat wagons where primary target and had very low hp. Anyway, will salvage ships have to return to the CC to leave the salvages mats or just get them added to you reasource pool straight ahead?

People would load corpses into wagons then unload them and have necros make a ton of skeletons.
I don't think anything in SC should have something that has to do with stealing corpses.

That is a pretty damn good question Ghost! I think Salvage ships should be medium sized and capable of processing the salvaged material on their own... But wow man! Good question and I do not think I fully answered it.

It would if they decide to give zerg a similar ability to cannibalize :P

it would be totally awesome if one of the unit designers read this! then they could think about this and design a salvage ship for terran. hehe.

they might wanna add a lottt of life to these units tho :P
