Oh hey guys.... :thumbup:

This page is full of wonderful things. haha the weapons aren't lasers for those who read the "Protoss has too many lasers topic!" It's called thermal lances ^_^.
oooo and the colossus is affected by anti-air too. Makes sense.
Someone said to submit news but I dunno how to do it. Oh well.

yup colossus is affected by both anti-ground and anti-air

Huh...well, I'm still not too fond of the Colossus. It seems like a very costly unit to make, and the fact that it can be attacked by air and ground makes it seem like an easy thing to kill

Is that a dragoon in the first picture? Wtf?
Also, as it goes, the colos seems like a great unit, especially on maps with a lot of cliffs. What is a group of lings going to do if one is up on a ledge like in that second picture?

It will be great on maps with cliffs and/or against the zerg. Being vulnerable to both ground and air just makes sense and you wouldn't want to send them out alone anyway.

Eh, that's true, I guess it won't too bad, I can see it being the toss version of a siege tank. Btw, I wasn't complaining that it could be attacked from anti air and ground, cuz to me that just shows some damn good balance

I'm betting the shield will be an upgrade. The zealot and zergling already have a confirmed new thing so it's only logically to give the marine something too.

Sounds about right. No reason to have them start out with them. I don't mind how they look with the shield anyways. They just look more like riot police.
Also, I don't get why they have a picture of a new unit with a bunch of old units?

that screenshot is awesome! now i really wanna play it. yes i see corsiars and carriers everywhere. or are those not carriers. anyway maybe they still have few old units left but are not use in wars anymore in starcraft 2.

Never really looked at the background in screenshots (you're supposed to wow at the colossi) but they look awesome without looking too "small" like the slower RTS out there. The foilage looks great (much much ++ better than w3)..the tile set is alright (cuz w3 had already decent tiles).
I like how siege tanks/marines dont have shadows.(in the non rotated screenshot).and i bet they'll look better when they do :). Strangely in the rotated screenshot (colossi on the top of the screen) some of the marines have shdows that look normal now ...empahsis that they are puny?

the marines don't have shields because they do not have the upgrade yet. it's an upgrade to get shields remember?

Or the person who did the concept art made it in an early stage of development before they axed anything so thats why there are axed units in it. And that what you said about it is just a good after the fact statement.

Way cool unit, totally reminds me of War of the Worlds in almost every way, especially the part how they are buried deep in asteriods and on moons. I think they did well on this unit, the panning viewport in the front that looks around is really neat. I really wish the bases moved as well, same with the Immortals and Stalkers and old school Dragoons. The legs always point in the same direction, that always annoyed me.
The terrian looks really amazing! You can see blades of grass as he is walking across the field and there appears to be multipule stories on those temples. I wonder how high you can make those structures. The graphics are more crisp looking than WC3, and the trees look alot better as well. Also looks like the Robotics Facility is back as well, and most likely the Reaver for sure, since they mention it in the description.
Notice the Marines have backpack units of some-sort? Also I am pretty sure the shields are an upgrade for the Marine as well. It would be awsome if it was just like Level 3 armor or something, cause that would be sick if it changed how your units looked as you upgraded. :good:
All in all, good job Blizzard!

i think they will be able to add it into the story line very easily (you know blizzard) they will probably put in a mission where you have to scout and asteroid for them but you run into the zerg or terran and then you have to fight it out with them.

To be honest, I think it would be hilarious if the Colossus's lasers made the enemies clothes pop off and float down to the earth (like in WOTW! LOL!)
The Colossus is an insane hulking murderer, did you see how fast it ripped through that group of unlucky marines? And since it can be attacked by anti-air, I believe Goliath production is now in order.

but I love the look of the colossus. I couldn't understand what the unit was saying when I clicked on the sound button on the unit page...I can't remember...is it a robotic unit or does it have a driver inside?

The colossus is unusual for the fact that it was created purely as a war machine. Most protoss robots are created for industrial or resource-gathering purposes.

I just imagined what it would look like once they spawned...because I hope they're not gonna just have the unit appear next to the building

it would be cool if it spawned and it was sorta crouched and when it completed production, it would stand up and tower over the building that just built it

I def. believe that units will have an animation when they are created. Just take a look at the warp gate. It expands to allow the new unit to fit and then warps it in. I would assume that this is true for all units, or at least most.

Am I the only one that thinks that all the Colossi in all the concept art Blizz has put out are missing a leg? haha. They all look like tripods to me, but the actual unit is a quadruped. I guess Blizzard got burned out on the whole War of the Worlds tripod reference that they have already used several times in WoW :P

I just realized....a lot of the new units for protoss are dark templar like. Tempest (darker version of the carrier), Stalker (dark Dragoon), phase cannaon....don't know about that, but maybe it was created by the darker protoss and Soul hunter (a weird but powerful reaver prototype). It's good to see the dark templar realized for there prowess. That's is why they are so O.P :o

It seems to me this shows the acceptance of the dark templar and their "forbidden" power into a more mainstream of protoss civilization. You see a lot of that type of influence in the SC2 units. Instead of blind zealotry (WARNING: PUN) they are becoming more open minded out of necessity. There is probably a little of the dark templar power in a lot of their new technology.

hmm... well the tank does a ton of damage per shot, but the colossus has a continuous attack... i think id have to give it to the colossus (320 shield/400 health)

The tank definitely didn't look stronger this time around. It got torn through in the protoss gameplay video.

doubt you will be able to fit a colossus in a phase prism, and you probably wont be able to warp colossi in. stick with reavers.

Perhaps the phase prisms store the units as a form of energy so then it would be able to fit a colossus inside of it.

Figured as much what with those zealots turning into energy for a split second. So now I wonder if the capacity of the phase prism is greater than that of the shuttle (like how a zealot took up two spaces just like a goliath in a dropship) maybe they only take up 1 now.
So:
Probe - 1
Zealot - 1
Dark Templar - 1
Stalker - 2
Immortal - 4
Reaver - 4
Colossus - 8
with a max capacity of 8.

it could be either that or an increased capacity, like max of 10 or 16, with the colossus taking up the majority (if not all) of that space. if it were only to take up say 12 of 16 you could put some zealots or stalkers in for support.

They are in .max and .3ds format too which means they will be able to be converted to starcraft 2 models given the fact that there will be art tools for starcraft 2.

well adding 2 more marines to each dropship would let you add 12 more with just 6 dropships.

I wouldn't think a collosus could be put in a phase prism, becuase it's an "air/ground" unit. And you can't put air units in a phase prysm, but that's just my 2 cents.

well they still demolecularize it and stuff it in the crystal computer so anything is possible
