ok this is the new noob tournament thread since we need to start fresh because things got too unorganized here is the old one

anyways drew and I have taken it over since nothing was getting done so far here is the outline
1.Register by giving a PM to drewcbarnard or I. please do these in the next 2-3 weeks
2.Date is not decided yet since we need more people
3.we will be giving prize for each bracket winner so the only way you dont win anythings is if you lose your first match. sorry
4.there also will be an entrance fee to get the minerals to pay off the winners it will be decided according to how many people there are
5.we will have a judge in each game to make sure each and everyone is ACTUALLY a noob. i maybe or maybe not play depending on if we can get decent judges

Now...do we judge noob status based on forum or game experience? If the latter, I've been playing pretty consistently online since '99, so definitely not a noob in that regard.

we judge noob on b.net and the judge will be IN the game. kinda like regular tournament to see if someone is cheating or just to have a commentary kinda thing. but anyways there'll be at least 3 people in one game player, player, judge if i can figure out which map let 1v1+spectators i'll have to check back in my folder but i KNOW it's UMS so it won't hurt your record and i guess we can have spectator as long as they are in ally chat and arent allied to the players. the 2 players and the judge will be on chat with all.

sorry for the misunderstanding. it has been changed to avoid clotting the thread, so it can stay more organized. also if anyone knows how or can get an IP address for that vent thing? i'm not too good with vent i've never used it before, so if you're good with vent or that kinda thing please PM me and you can also help set up the vent part of the tournament.

we might be extending the deadline a BIT (not too much) since we just got the admin to make an ad for us. and i might not even participate in my own tournament T_T how sad is that (i'll be on vacation in the coming week). unless the tournament is extended even further, but we dont want that. that's how the original died. anyways i might get late entries too but the entrance fee might be more for them. for those who may not make the tournament but have registered like me we wont have to pay more. but we will be late entries.

The spectators can go on Vent and laugh with each other. But you have to record the whole game's audio, I want to hear what shenanigans the observers were doing.

Youtube is the hub of idiots, they either:

1) Don't care about your video
2) Watch your video BY MISTAKE because it appeared in their ''star trek hawt alien chix nekkedxx'' search so they literally clicked on it thinking they would find alien porn just to see that's it's a Starcraft video, of course beeing the rational people that they are, they will watch it. Then, they will blame you for wasting 20 minutes of their life and start cussing in an intelligible language which will make you feel like beating up someone. But we all know that nothing can go trough the logical barrier of a Youtube user. He will claim he knows more than you, will probably state that he is one of the best Starcraft player. Just to learn that he had to see a psychologist because his mom found the whole history of his website search, which is fulled with search like ''hot <enter alien race from fictional TV show here> nekked shower scene''. Just to get grounded later on because he downloaded 50 viruses thinking they were infact vidcaps of naked aliens.

And that's just one type of Youtube user, I could go on forever about the moronic comments I've seen.

Edit: the date depends entirely on you and the person you are against. and any spectators that want to watch ( don't change the schedule unless for a spectator, unless you have none. ONE SPECTATOR MUST BE AT EACH GAME, THEY SERVE AS A JUDGE. ) just dont wait to long to play your opponent. otherwise you'd hold up the tournament.

OK GUYS HERE IS THE BRACKET SO FAR. There are prob going to be a few changes, and there are a few things I need to explain.

First off, If you see blue question marks by your name, it means I am either missing your SC registered account name or your forum name. Sorry for the inconveinience, but would you please PM me the name you are missing (You know who you are).

Second, If for any reason you want to back out now or if one of the Judges cannot Judge, you need to either inform UCHI or I so that we can make necessary changes!

Third, you must schedule your match with your opponent on your own time and no match will be official unless a judge is present for the match and the map must be a blizzard created map (no unlimited resources maps like BGH or Fastest).

PLEASE HURRY and schedule your matches so you don't hold up the tournament.

Last but not least, you may be wondering how the three semi-finalists will play? This is going to be a 3 person FFA for first place. This is the only way we could accommodate the amount of players we have. If there are any comments or questions, please PM UCHI or I and we will get back to you. Thank you and GL.

Any matches not held by then for first round the players shall be forfeited. (This does not include players who tried to make an effort to play their partners but they got no response, in that case PM me and let me know.) Please schedule your matches soon so we can make this first tourny a continuing success. Thanks guys.

Note: I think next time we do this thing we should make it available only to active forum members (100 posts or more....basically (Regulars)) because it seems that their are alot of no shows. Whatever, thats good for the rest of the people who participated, they will have a better shot at the prize minerals donated by our members, and SC2forums.

Sadly...I think so.. it's not looking good.. but it's ok... you know what they say: You cant learn to walk without falling down. I think this first try at a tournament was a learning experience and will make sure the next one is a success. The way it is going we might have to scratch this whole thing and start all over...We shall see after August 6th

If he's using a LCD screen and SC is shifted to one side, tell him to set the refresh rate to 60 MHz. I had that problem and I spent a good half hour on hold on Blizzard Tech Support to speak with a guy for less than a minute.

i must say, i am curious. did he go air, or some cloaked unit? (i dont know what races you were using, im just asking because you mentioned turrets.)

He went for the Reaver/DT drop and I was stupid and hadn't built missle turrets and didn't call off my attack. i dunno, did you save it under your replays folder? its supposed to be under the maps folder in your starcraft folder in program files...then you have to go to single player-> play custom, navigate to it, and host it yourself if I am not mistaken

It doesn't give me the option to save it onto anything, except onto a disk. It just says pick a system to open it with or save onto a disk :-\

I clicked on N00b tournament and then download and it worked

"Save to Disk" doesn't necessarily mean a floppy. Technically your hard drive is a bunch of magnetized disks. Choose "Save to Disk" then select the directory you want to save it under

your best bet would be to save it under your \maps\replays folder, so probably
C:\Program Files\Starcraft\maps\replays
Correct me if the default path is wrong, anyone-who-is-at-their-gaming-computer

yea definetly next time we should have some kind of form where we tell the people in charge what time zones they are in, what's the best available time they can play, email/AIM (for better communication), whether they are behind a router or not (kinda important cause battle.net sucks for me right now since i'm behind a wireless, but it's okay 1v1 or 2v2 but not UMS :( ), etc.

Oh well it's the first one. I'm sure the second one will be better.

i remember getting paragon's message AFTER the deadline which i think we extended a few days. and i also think in the message he said he wasnt a noob. i could be wrong about the noob thing. but i remember fully that he asked AFTER the deadline because i remember discussing some late entries with drew. and then we officially closed it. and then a few hours later he PMed. if he is in fact a noob i'll discuss it with drew to see if we can let him in. of course he'd have to find another noob to be his opponent and we'd have to adjust the brackets yet again

=/ also people still need to send their entrance fees. it is NOT a scam. i've already said that the minerals from the entrance fee will be giving to things. kind of like the "pimpest plays" the judges will have to decide who gets how many though. =/ so far i only have the fee from:
