There was a lot of cool stuff going on in the cinematic trailer. Let's talk about it.

The big thing that confused me was the exhaust ports on the Marines back. It certainly isn't a Reaper, because the weapons aren't right and there is no way he could use those to fly. They point up, what would they use them for?

Another funny thing I noticed was the inmate's number, 626. It's the same number used to identify Stitch in Disney's Lilo and Stitch. It could be a coincidence, it could be that the number 626 is significant and is something both SC2 and the Disney movie refer to, or it could be some sort of joke among the animators. What do you think?

In the end, the Marine shuts his visor while smoking cigar, I think they just do that to define the character, let's not go into detail about how crazy it is.

Well, the man is Tychus Findlay (SP), and he's a big thing. They even made a statue of him.

I think 626 is just joke really....That's what Blizz does.

I think the jets would be useful in low-grav situations, IE, you jump, and use the jets to drop again.

I thought the jets were to help him counter the recoil from his guns.
He could shoot and have the jets fire to maintain his balance and reduce recoil ;p

I dunno, the low gravity idea is a good one too.
Anyone think all that amour would be hindering though? Looks so bulky and heavy.... :o

Well, yeah, they'd be heavy, but two things...

1. I'm sure strength is mechanically augmented

The power's coming from that powerpack thing that went into his armor I'm pretty sure. Who knows what that is though, Fuel Cell, Fusion stuff? Dunno.

Well, yeah, that's freaking awesome, but not what I meant.

The first Marine to open his visor had a cig, and really, I prefer the scent of a good cigar to a cig.

Beautiful trailer,hope blizzard releases a new one..i think this marine came from the sector where all marines where criminals(what sector was that again?!)..i thought he already died..why?notice that tatoo on his fingers?P.A.I.N?i thought he ran out of bullets and he died?(but it was not shown any way..^^)and the Physique/cuffs definitely tell him his a prisoner..and for the cig most of the marines in the cinematics i saw always have cigs on..btw those packs? their for drop control..(the computer said "ALL MARINES PREPARE TO DROP")..good trailer..everything connects..^^

Well, if I remember correctly, Australia was a prison colony where criminals were sent to colonize it because it was so far away. I'm not sure about New Zealand, though... So in that sense Australia resembles the Dominion.

Ok I'm from Australia, and the strange thing is, most people cannot relate to the prisoners that were sent here in the late 1700s.

In fact, MAJORITY of Australians are decendents from migrants that came here after WW1 and WW2. Relating back to the Terran Dominion, Australia is completely reversed....

all of that equipment that they wear is a waste! Marines die fast, and the protoss most likely take this metal and uses it for themselves. They can transport the metal to them using the teloportation stuff they have, before SEV's pick em up

Heh, I'm sure Protoss metal is waaaay more advanced than Terran. Also, even with machine enhanced strength, it's still be far to heavy to move. I think it's more of a carbon-fiber thing.

Sci-Fi is made for people who like to think about it. If they wanted it to be unexplainable they could use Mithril of Admantium or "Umbiquitous Sacred Armor of the Lich". I think that everything in Starcraft is possible to create one day, and maybe even put into practice. What I hate is the Vulture: bikes in a battlezone??? Come on...

Don't forget about the quick flashes we see of the terran jet/spaceship flying around through that city, that was pretty cool.

I think the ports on top are heat exhaust ports notice when it starts up though that the fire starts blue and then cools to orange. That confused me because it is trying to cool off something the something should start off cool and warm up as the systems begin to heat up. Even jump or control jets would want to start cool and heat up, but blue is definately more hot than orange.

They might be exhaust, but they still look like jet engines to me... I have my theories about what they could be, but if you look closely at the statue you'll notice that he also has another two pointing downwards, so I think that they're for gravitational stability and stuff like that.

Yes the gravity idea does make since. If thats not it, then its usless. It cant make you fly.

'Tis for walking and jumping in variable grav environs. In high gravity places, like Aiur (Cause it's freaking huge), the downward jets would run, thus making it possible to jump and stuff. In the low grav places, like the Platforms, the upward pointing ones would burn, making it so you don't float away.

But in chemistry, with the bunsen burners, when the flame is at it's hottest it goes blue, but chuck the gauze mat on and the metal glows red hot. I think the initial blue is just the gas burning, and it slowly becomes red due to the thruster nozzles heating up. But moving on...is the whole idea of a dedicated suiting up chamber that realistic? I mean that was a pretty cavernous room there, with a lot of advanced equipment, all for one marine? Has anyone played starcraft recently and timed how long it takes to make a marine, and compared it? ^_^ One thing's for sure, Blizzard make some kick-ass cinematics

Something funny occurred to me: what if that had decided to feature a different unit in the trailer?

I can see an SCV being suited up, instead of walking out from a prison cell, he punches in on a time clock. Instead of standing calmly, he's trembling and twitching because the SCV pilot is claustrophobic. The suit itself would be much bigger, and the "engines" on the back would be actual engines, huge ones, in fact. The fusion cutters go through a quick test cycle, small bolts of blue plasma arc across the screen. As the helmet seals, the final line would be, "Aw hell, here we go again."

I'd describe the Medic being suited up, but the images I get for that are a bit too dirty. :-[
