the protoss vindicator that was going to feature in ghost be a unit in SC2?

by the look of it it would be a rapid fireing unit and the only one the protoss have;

Most likely a campaign hero like in Starcraft 1. The Dark Templar weren't producable yet but you could get some in the Protoss missions.

Or they'll be Tier 2 units like stronger Marines.

I would rather have the Vindicator than the Soul Hunter.
Both seems to be wielding the same type of gun. They should do the same thing and change the model and name to the Vindicator because the Vindicator in every way, looks much cooler than the Soul Hunter.

Yeah I was wondering what was to become of this "light infantry" type. Though upon closer inspection, don't you think that the Vindicator looks like a Soul Hunter?

Probably the Soul Hunters are Dark Templar Vindicators since the Aiur Protoss are on Shakuras.

The picture of the Protoss, looks like they copied the Covenant from Halo and they added shiny armor to it.

Covenant are nothing like the Protoss unless you look at the Elite legs and "shiny armor".
Come to think of it, in some cinematics the Terran Marines have shiny armor.

Nonsensical Major Willy! Look at how there are three races in the Halo series, each very similar to that of StarCraft's own. Actually we should not argue this as StarCraft also seems to be loosely based off of Alien vs. Predator.

Anyway further information to back up that StarCraft was there first:
StarCraft is a real-time strategy game by Blizzard Entertainment. It was initially released for Microsoft Windows in 1998. A Mac OS version of the game was released in 1999, and a port to the Nintendo 64 was released in 2000.

Halo: Combat Evolved, or simply Halo, is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie Studios, and the first installment of the Halo trilogy. It was released on November 15, 2001 as a launch title for the Xbox gaming system, and is considered that platform's "killer application".
Though different their genres may be, Halo may have gotten some sort of influence from StarCraft units. But who cares -- I surely do not -- I love them both and they provide great hours of entertainment.

Besides the point, if you really compare the Soul Hunter with the image of the Vindicator, it seems that the Vindicator was given a darker shade and a hover board to boot.
