View Full Version : Stalkers' "Blink" ability

I tried paying attention in the gameplay demo to the Protoss Stalkers to look to see if they had an energy limit to their Blink ability. I couldn't find one; does this mean that they can 'blink' non-stop or is Blizzard gonna fix this?

welcome to the forums. and i think the blink ability will use up energy. otherwise it'd be way too unbalanced ... unless they make a unit like that for all 3 races. that'd be nice

atm it looks like it just has a cooldown, no energy required

lol that means you could just blink an entire army across a ledge and rape someone who had no idea there was an army there previously. my kinda unit ;)

If you watch the interface when the stalkers are blinking there is a cooldown, I didnt time it but its like 7 seconds or so.

this will force the other players to make rather rediculous defenses around their miners.

perhaps there is energy but the guy had some cheats online?

yes he had cheats. he even told us after the 2nd mothership ability that's why i think it's energy. the reason he let it "cool down" was only because it was an explanation video. not a video of him playing. he had to explain things and that is why he didnt just rape those reapers

He did have cheats but the stalker did not have an energy gauge, so blink is limited only by cooldown.

it is definately a cooldown

if you look closely you will see the timer on the "blink" icon

plus it has NO energy bar

its a 10 second cooldown. i was discussing this with itsmyship on another thread. cooldown only.

I agreed they should put more limits on the stalkers.
I predict that they will either make the blink ability a upgrade and or/ use energy. It should have a cooldown, but not too long, it could get pretty annoying have to wait to blink, while your being chased down. Another limit they could put on the stalker is that it can only blinks on the ground and not onto cliffs. cuz the way it is now, it seems too powerful................but i could be wrong...

P.s. if it does use energy it should only be like 5-20.

I think the Stalkers are perfect the way they are - with an approximately ten second cooldown. The 'blink' ability itself will probably be an upgrade as well, as JimRaynor45 said above, and these two things together don't make the Stalker too overpowered. I'm sure as well that some of the other races' abilities will be just as annoying but balanced with this Protoss one.

oo ooo If we are going with energy,  then i say the farther you blink, the more energy it needs, if you happen you blink right next to it, then it uses very little 

maybe it could use more energy to blink up a cliff

just ideas, i am actually content with the current setup, it can only blink within its LOS, which isnt far, and when it walks regularly, its not amazingly fast... i see no need to change it, like ninerman said, other races will have equally powerful units too

im pretty sure after some testing, everything will fall into place
