Races playable at the blizzcon demo?

So with blizzcon drawing near, it is becoming increasingly obvious that blizzard will need to make a choice about what they are ready to show off. Because we've seen so much of the protoss already, its obvious they will be playable.

The race we have seen the second most out of is the terran. The terrans making an appearance in the demo at blizzcon is possible, but do you think blizzard will debut them?

Finally, the race we have seen nothing from [as far as buildings and bases are concerned] is the zerg. Is blizzcon going to be the big revelation we've all been waiting for? Or will the zerg remain a mystery?

Remember, VOTE ON WHAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN, not what you want to happen ;). Personally I'm going to say it will be terran vs protoss battles.

I think that only the Protoss will be playable at BlizzConn. Blizzard really disappointed me at E3 with the lack of new info, so I'm not getting my hopes up too at BlizzConn either.

I don't know man, I heard that (can't remember the exact quote) there was gonna be a ton of new stuff at blizzcon. I think it was a battle.net poster. Plus, why show off cool new stuff at e3 when you can do it at your own convention?

Yea that's true. I really hope you are right. I am just dying to learn more about the new Terrans and Zergs in SC2. Heck, I don't mind if they don't show both the Terrans and Zergs. Just show us one of them. We already know enough about the Protoss already so I really don't want to learn anything more about them. Because I am sure we would know most of the Protoss stuff at the Gameplay Demo.

I think they'll spend the rest of the month wrapping up the major Protoss stuff, then hit us with Terran at Blizzcon. I don't know if they'll be playable there, but I hope so. I don't think Zerg will be playable, they might show some Zerg units, but that'll be it.

If they don't make the Terran and Zerg playable at the demo, they should do a 22 minute gameplay demo for the Terran and Zerg. Then, I won't be disappointed.

They should do in a similiar format like introducing the new units/mechanics, but this time, focus on the Terrans. Of course, show some of the Zerg buildings and some of their returning units like the hydralisks, etc... Just enough info for the Zerg compared to the WWII's Terran, and I would be more than happy to accept that Protoss is going to be the only playable race at the demo. (That is, if they are really going to make the Protoss the only playable race).

I wish I could go to BlizzCon. Too bad it's sold out. A bit far too, though. Compared with some others it's nothing but... at least I live in the same state. If I was going I'd want a demo of at least terran and toss, but since I'm not, I'll be happy w/ a nice long vid.

I seriously wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard does that knowning how they love to keep their lips locked. Most likely situation is that they will show everything for the Protoss including the new abilities to the Archons, and Dark Templars because Blizzard clearly stated that they aren't finished with them yet. So yea, the demo will be a full and finished version of the Protoss.

As for the Zerg and Terran? Well, maybe next year guys. :-\

Based on playability, I voted Protoss only.

I think it's very likely that we will get to see new never-before-seen things about Terran and Zerg, but I think only as part of the Protoss campaign/demo. I feel that it is doubtful that Terran and Zerg will be playable when they haven't been revealed on the official SC2 web site. Even Protoss hasn't been fully revealed on the site.

They'll probably have only Terran and Toss available, but I'd imagine they'll have a big update for all three races at their site, and not to mention giving some very informative interview, and a lot of them too.

I still think that they will only let you play as Protoss. From the very beginning Blizzard already said that all three races were playable in multiplayer, but I don't think they will let you have it that easy.

They are on a plan to put every last SC player on a leash. If you give too much too fast, the dog won't listen to you.

I meant only playable as Toss in a scripted campaign, you'll be going against whatever.  I really don't see them setting up multiplayer for BlizzCon.

Very cool, I can't wait til we get to hear about all the new goodies for every race. I still think Blizzard has some tricks up their sleeves for even the Protoss! Their talk of already release units going through major changes in the "Unit Training Camp" makes me very intrigued to see what all has been done. And of course, they still have to replace the Soul Hunter. We still don't know jack about the Star Relic either, or both the Dark Templar and High Templar for that matter!

The Zergs are still in concept stage as revealed by the recent German magazine. With just under 2 weeks left till BlizzConn, I don't expect the Zergs to be playable. But we will probably learn some new stuff about the Zergs.

Terrans and Protoss are the most likely choices. Congrads to anyone that voted Terran and Protoss. :)

They said they had all three races playable in multiplayer way back around when they first announced SC2. But all of a sudden Zerg is back in "concept phase." Like, wtf Blizzard?

when they first made the engine the plonked all of sc1 units in, therefore all races were fully playable about 3 months into the development, however, what blizzard means by the zerg are still in concept stage is that all the new units have not been added to the engine yet, so if you were to play as zerg you would be playing sc1 zerg.

Yea, it is getting very confusing.
I just found that video way back in WWII and Rob Pardo clearly stated that the all 3 races were fully playable through multiplayer. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding because a lot of the German and Korean magazines info that we gathered contradicts one another.

Hopefully, what the German magazine stated about the Zergs is mistaken. Otherwise, I would be really disappointed because I really want to see some Zergs at BlizzConn.

GuiMontag, don't make up stories and state them as if they were fact. You don't know any of that, don't get people confuse, it's bad enough as it is. Blizzard made no implications of the kind in the slightest way.

And I personally regard the German magazine to be less accurate. I read the Korean article myself, but I can't read German, so I can't trust its info 100%. Well, not that the Korean article could be trust 100% either, but at least I got to read that first hand.

Unless the interview/article stated otherwise, I fail to see how it is possible for Blizzard to be still sitting on SC1 Zerg after 4 years of development.

ive said this in a few other posts, but maybe after blizz was working on zerg for a while, they hit a wall with concepts for units, balancing issues, etc. and had to go back to square one, or just set them back a lot.

I heard somewhere in an interview in may that "something big is going down for the zerg." The guywould just not shut up about the zerg. So I am almost positive if they aren't playable that there will be stuff revealed about them.

Well so as of today nothing about the Zerg.
There is multiplayer gaming between Terran and Protoss. The game plays very much like SC1, but a few new units and of course awesome new eye candy. The environments are so gorgeous its kind of distracting but nice.
Oh and during the Q&A about the single player campaigns there was talk of ancient artifacts from another race... So not a playable "other race" but one that might make for an outside enemy like we've seen in past Blizzard games. The new single player campaigns are going to be “free form” and sound awesome.

They compared it to a foot ball shape campaign. Specific beginning specific end with a wide range in between where “anything” can happen.
