Info about Archons revealed in interview with Chris Sigaty

Chris Sigaty discusses starcraft 2 units in video at http://www.gametrailers.com/player/22205.html?type=flv. He talks about the new starcraft 2 units and makes some very interesting statements about archons.

First, he says that the new Twilight Archon is made to replace the original Archon and that it will take 2 high templars to make them. He also says at this point the Dark Archons are out.

Another interesting thing is that he mentions in SC1 normal Archons took 3 High Templars to create. If memory serves me it takes 2 HT's to make an Archon in normal SC.

There is other information about units that may be new to you so I recomend watching the video. The information about the Archons is just what struck me as the most interesting.

He couldn't have played it very much. I don't think anyone could forget the frustration of watching to HT's circling eachother over and over again waiting for the two little sob's to morph into an archon.

That quote he talked about needing 3 High Templars really made my day. That was soo funny. I mean, if he just said, in SC1, we need 3 HT to get an Archon, than it's fine. But he went on and explained, In Sc2, you only need 2, so they are easier to access. LOL, that just made my day. I wonder what he will do when he goes back to Blizzard, and they all laughed at him at saying that.

Blizzard clearly said that they aren't done with the Twilight Archons yet. So I am assuming that they will probably have other abilities along with it's normal attack. Remember, Blizzard even said that Protoss isn't even finished yet. So, maybe all those 3 combinations will all be a bit different when it comes to release.

maybe chris sigaty lives in an alternate universe where it takes 3 high templar to merge into an archon... but... that ramifications of this are too horrible to imagine... an unbalanced starcraft of this magnitude would cause ripples in the rest of the world that would have led to it's distruction in the latest years of the 20th century because with an unbalanced starcraft, korea would not have been so entranced by the game and north and south korea would have gone to war which would have escalated into a fullblown nuclear conflict that would have destroyed the planet... :O

That looks cool. If they did have 3 different archons like that... they have to be distinct in appearance though to tell which one is which. What attack would each archon have though. I rather have the 2 high templars have an attack and the disruption web. I think the high templar should only have the psionic storm though.

yea almost everyone in north korea is practically brainwashed thinking that Kim Jong Il is god and that their country is the most ideal. They don't even have any connections to the outside world at all let alone starcraft. Have you ever seen documentaries about north korea? There's like nothing there and paragon's images proves only a little of it too.

I like the idea of combining templars to make 3 different archons.
My thoughts for each archon:
• Archon: heavy assault ground unit with no spells, just an initial attack (like the original)
• Dark Archon: offensive spell caster with no attack.
• Twilight Archon: defensive spell caster with a lesser attack then the regular archon.

However, I also think that this many archons would be unnecessary for StarCraft 2. Twilight Archon could have the same properties as both an archon and a dark archon, but it should have new spells that are even more fun then the dark archon's. And as for an explanation on why you could merge either 2 high templars, 2 dark templars or 1 high templar and 1 dark templar to create the twilight archon (apparently claimed by blizzard) . . . since the two protoss cultures seem to be merging, the high templars could have inherited some dark templar abilities, and vice versa. This could explain why it could just take two high templars instead of 1 of each templar unit to make a twilight archon, which by all rights is a combination of dark and high templar energies. Because of this, the high templar and dark templars could have some new abilities and traits as well.
