From what we've seen so far, I think the Nuke in Starcraft 2 looks absolutely amazing. It also appears that its destructive power is appropriately limited. There is one improvement though I think they should make - the nuke should destroy trees and other environmental doodads. That would be really cool. Do you guys have any other ideas concerning this Terran weapon??

Bleh... I hope they just make it launch faster. They develope intergalactic space travel but they still use Nukes that can be outran by space Turtles... or even worse REAVERS!!

well u gotta maintain that nuke so supply is more realistic but also to prevent unlimited nukes.
i got a question though... where are the nukes going to be made?

maybe you can build that reator thing on a command center to unlock nukes?
When a nuke explodes it should turn the ground into sand/dust/dirt IE no grass!
And theres gotta be some kind of radiation left over I mean come on.

Exactly!! I said this all the way back when the forum was new. Great minds think alike.
I though maybe a slow health sapping effect roughly the same size as explosion's range. It stick with you for a little while.
I would say they would lose say 5 health a second for 60 seconds and would suffer slower movement and attack speed.
Or we could go really crazy and any unit effected by the radiation would turn into zombies and the Owner of that unit would lose control of it, and then the zombies go on a rampage eating brains and what have you. yay zombies ;D
Great minds DO think alike my good friend :good:

5 health a second? everything that somehow managed to survie would still die. thats 300 damage.

zombies do NOT eat brains mind you, their brains are invected with the virus solanum which drives their bodies to consume the flesh of live humans.

radiation will be too cheap in my opinion...>.<

the radiation should cause the unit to lose 1 health every second, simmilar to plague, and should have a random lasting time. further, the chances of getting radiation should be 75%, and it should stay around the nuked area for 30 minutes. finally, each race should be able to research some kind of immunity to the radiation, that causes it to not affect them/not do as bad stuff to their units, and every race should be able to use radiation in some way. more to follow, i will probably edit, but i need to go for a few minutes.

Actually, Zombies don't want to eat brains, they just want a good education.

ok well, in fear of being penalized for editing, im just posting again...
the zerg should have an ability from a hive that allows them to radiate a certain area... the terrans get it from their nuke... and the protoss should have a side affect from using ablities called psionic radiation, that can appear where an ability is used... but then that would hurt the protoss... hmmm...

30 minutes? no way...it should be more like...5 minutes and mech shouldnt be affected by radiation, only no armored guys such as marines, zerg, or like zealots
and besides...if there is radiation, all the zerg ground units will be affected like irradiate
besides all i said, your opinion is awesome

I never used nukes in Starcraft...so slow, to difficult to launch, to difficult to make impact. It always seemed worthless to me. Maybe that'll get changed...

I think the nuke is going to be either easier to tech to or be far quicker and more damaging in order to make it worth the cost. If you look at the new screenshot of the Terran base being attacked by a mob of Zerglings, the nuke looks like it has a much bigger radius of damage.

Maybe it'll be possible to load it into a bomber or something...

Meh... Good with the radiation, I like that... For zergs, they already have plague... I think Psionic storm is enough with protosses.... After all, we do want to keep each race unique? I like your thinking though...
So for the radiation, maybe it should stay for 5 minutes, last 60 secs with 1hp/sec, and the radiated area should have like a green haze or something?
