StarCraft X-TRA Editor 2.6 - Download for Windows (http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/downloads/SCXE26/)
"The StarCraft X-tra Editor (SCXE) is a set of StarEdit-Mods. These mods are made to make map making easier for newbies and give StarEdit more options. The current version (2.6) is availible in German and English and has 5 modes. Each mode is a different mod of StarEdit and has some special things. Please note that if you want to make special map projects you'll need to use the modes in the right way. If you go back to another mode and open your map you might get errors and have to do some steps again."

StarCraft X-tra Editor 2.6 is the most easiest and friendliest map editing tool. It's user interface is similar to that of the original StarCraft Campaign Editor, however the similarities stop there. The X-tra Editor lets you go beyond the boundaries of the original and gives you more to work with. Great tool for both starters and seasoned map makers.

StarCraft X-TRA Editor 2.5 - Download for Windows (http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/downloads/SCXEenglish/)
This is an earlier version of the Editor mentioned above. Some users find that this is better than 2.6.

StarFire Edit -
StarFire Editor is the latest and greatest enhanced map editor designed to run for Mac OS X. It is equivalent to StarCraft X-tra Editor on PC and should be able to perform all of the same functions.

NOTE: This program may not run on MAC OSX with Intel chipsets, your best solution is to use virtualization programs such as VMWare, Parallels, or just use Boot Camp.

"Scmdraft is the first and oldest third party map editor for Starcraft. The goal of this project was to allow map editing without requiring multiple programs in order to edit maps, while simultaneously providing all features possible with the map format.

SCMDraft 2 has been through many stages and is getting better and better every time. It is a very stable (despite being in its Beta stages), advanced, and powerful tool used for breaking away from ISOM (Isometric) terrain and using square terrain, blending tiles, using sprites, etc. etc.

StarForge 2.2b - Download for Windows (http://www.staredit.net/?download=9)
"StarForge is a map editor built from scratch. Now in its second version, it can do many interesting things, including placing square terrain, protecting maps, placing half-built buildings, and units for the hyper players (players 9-255) with interesting effects such as doubling the fire rate. StarForge plans to be just as powerful as hex-editing the map yourself, without the need to be a Neo.

Keep in mind that this is an advanced editor. It's not recommended for newbies."

Unknown Edit - Download for Macintosh (http://savefile.com/projects/1072014)
"UnKnown Edit (XEdit for short) is a mac editor that allows for square tiles, text triggers and player colors."

A utility that turns 128x128 bmp, jpg, or gif images into a StarCraft compatible map.

SCM to JPEG 1.0 - Download for Windows (http://www.campaigncreations.org/starcraft/dls/scmjpeg.zip)
This program takes your map and makes a .jpeg preview of it. It is very useful for anyone making a map archive or for anyone who wants pictures of their creations.

ProEdit contains a powerful map protector and also features compression tools and much more.

Another powerful map protection utility. The program is in Korean, however directions are located below:

One of the latest additions to the map protection scene. It is a very powerful map protection program.

NOTE: It restores all edited abilities (Psionic Storm, Ensnare, etc. etc.) to their default settings.

TinyMap - Download for Windows (http://farty1billion.dyndns.org/dl.php?f=TinyMap08_08.rar)
A relatively new map compression utility. TinyMap reduces the file size of your map by deleting unused strings and other tidbits that are not really required by StarCraft.

Uberation 3 - Download for Windows (http://www.staredit.net/?download=12)
An editor that does not actually give a visual of the map, but allows for password locking, string editing, player color editing, and many others. Be careful, since it's compression recycles strings and deletes isometric terrain, so if you edit after compressing with this, your strings and terrain will be messed up.
