yea I really hope they support widescreen resolutions.. that'll be cool. Yea try to note the pace of gameplay and if you can, change the speed of gameplay and see how it compares to the fastest setting of SC1.

I have wide-screen, and it would suck if that stretches the graphics :(

actualy recently a greater % of people are moving over to widescreen and it it is estimated in 5 years widescreen will be the majoraty
if they want the game to run for 10 years like the last 1 did, wouldent it be better to go for widescreen?
thats my 2 bit.

marcus what you say makes sense, but i see otherwize
heres how i see the difference,
norm screen is better suited for rts and more god-mode games if you know what i mean where you control the pawns so you can see an almost equal amount in every direction.
but widescrren is better in 2 aspects, 1 it has a more similer size-ratio to our own vision therefore fps and most action games are much better suited to the playstyle, also it can have 2 fullsize sidebyside windows onscreen if you are not playing games.
so most buissness and serious gamers are switching to widescreen,
but sc2 related i really think it is possible to incorparate bothe because in this game there is a new idea.
you can drag the field of view for a strait-over or even a groundhog view makeing whatever type of screen you are using have no difference, expecialy if you can move closer/farther.
im not sure if you can actualy do that but it showed it as possible in the first gameplay video so im going to go with that.
make sense?

no widescreen because i dont want to spend money on another monitor :P
it really goes against blizzard making the game accesible to low spec computers, because only people with lots of money can afford widescreen :P

now you are getting picky, did you listen to my last post? something about the rotating screen making it not matter...
by the way prices of widescreen have gone way down
you can get a norm 1 for around $100
or you can get a 1080p 5ms responce time 21 inch for around $190

Phantom assassin is her name. I was playing on a LAN party once with my friend, and he had his settings put low (even though he could put them high, don't ask why)...I was like "XIAO ATTACK PA OMFG I'M DYING!!! DOOM HER!! DOOM HER!!" and he was like "WHERE? I SEE NOTHING!!"

no she is called MORTRED aka the phantom assasin. only the noob can't spot an invisible phantom assasin. hahah. and late game she owns like hell. but sven will bring her down. ^^

well her title is the phantom assassin but her name is Mortred. So we were both right...I just always call the characters by their titles, except for a few...it actually depends on their name and what is fastest to yell at a LAN party. For instance...it's much quicker to yell "KILL RAZOR" than "KILL THE LIGHTNING REVENANT"
So I usually call her PA ;D

Yeah it has, but what more is there to say? It's better to redirect the off-topicness back to on-topicness rather than just point it out...

Well back to the topic. Stop saying that the system requirements are unknown. I know the game is subject to changes, but as far as I know, there is ALREADY a playable version. Ask the requirements for that if you can. They obviously exists as long as the game is playable.

Some days ago i did see tons of photos from the sc2 play area at blizzcon - now I cant seen to find any ? :-o
Anyone got links where you can see the monitors they play at ?
my best find: http://media.pc.ign.com/articles/810/810325/img_4763405.html
Looks like widescreen to me.

Yea, I heard that they are supporting wide screen at the Q&A portion of one of the Blizzcon vids.
Now, my question would be this though. See, we talk about how if the game supports standard format, that it would just show up as a box with black bars on the sides of a widescreen monitor.
Well, why can't it be the other way around? So the original format IS widescreen, but if you were to play it on a standard monitor, u'll still have a widescreen layout but with black bars at the top and bottom instead?
Maybe this is a really stupid question cuz maybe standard monitors was never capable of doing something like that and I just don't know...
Any ideas?

its probably got a rescaling program that allows both widescreen and normal resolutions
GrahamTastic

Probably. Why would it not support widescreen? (in this society anyway) i like square screens, personally. This whole 'wide' thing is just a fad.
Lemmy
08-14-2007, 05:38 AM
Yeah, quite unnecesary. Sqare stff makes you keep your vision centered instead oh having to move the head.

The majority of us have two working eyes, side by side, increasing our field of vision horizontally when compared to a single eye being open. Although both eyes focus on a single object (so you'll have to move them anyway on 4:3 screens), more can be noticed overall.
Rescaling would presumably be easier than supporting both aspect ratios (both technically and due to balancing issues), although I'm sure aspect ratios and resolutions can be enforced on multiplayer games so no player has an advantage over another.
