I was just viewing the Thor and Banshee screenshot from the GameMeca scans and I saw that the Missile Turret had an operator inside. Now I have been a fan of StarCraft for quite a number of years and used to visit Team Liquid's website often and I just remembered that someone had brought up the issue with the missile turret being on your unit supply count and provided a screenshot of the turret's wireframe with an operator inside. A very minute detail placed by Blizzard, but a good one indeed. It changed my thoughts on the Missile Turret and how it functioned like an automated defensive structure.

So I dug around and found the picture and cut out the piece of the screenshot for your viewing pleasure, check it out below! We get to see the turret operators now! Woo Hoo! Nothing special... but Woo Hoo none the less!!!

should be robotic, imo.

That would be one dizzy operator ^_^

Anyway if you read various books (Speed of Darkness, Shadow of Xel'naga) you'll see that they are automatic but there is a place inside for manual operation.

Wow, I can't believe I never noticed that. I still think an automatic turret's cooler.

lmao. hahah. nice one.

uhm. yah i never notice that all these years.
i agree it should be automatic. and in some artworks missile turret looks BIG, and the guy sitting on it makes it look small in game.

What question this really raises is why do Units not just kill the Man in there instead of taking time to decimate it. I mean, I can see the point of destroying it so it won't be re-operated , but, I do not see why the man doesn't die while operating it.I would assume that he is in there manually operating it and it would need to be activated while in there to go back to automatic defensive systems , so, it would just stop working if he died... It doesn't even look like there is a window protecting him.... I would imagine Zerglings killing him before dismantling the Turret. I do not like this at all.
There is a difference between Missile Turret Operator and Superman. >:D

Another thing that bothers me is that if this is final why in the h*** is the Missile Turret being reverted to a man simply aiming and firing missiles. The one in SC1 automatically locked on and fired missiles at a target. The whole man in there seems far to be stretching it way too far.Although, it appears that there was one in Sc1 as well. Far too confusing I guess. Check this out to see what I mean. http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Missile_Turret.

It doesn't really matter how realistic this game is. It's not realistic right now, might as well just take it a bit farther.

They can't kill the operator because he is so well protected in there. If you look at the wireframe, the little guy is last to turn red.

Cool find... Although I wasn't expecting it... just another perk with having a SC with better graphics. It doesn't matter to me though, but it woulda been better to have it automatic... Makes a lot more sense that way because we wont have to wonder how an SCV managed to make a human being in like.. 10 seconds or whatever. And considering they never miss, obviously due to computer guidance why add in the factor of human error?

Um, the turret also had an operator in SC1 guys...

I have never noticed that.

...That's just the weirdest but most epic discovery of SC I've ever seen.

lol The epic epiphany - missile turret operators. <_< I don't really like the idea of an operator in the missile turret (someone mentioned human error, that's exactly what I was thinking). However I hope that the gatling gun turrets revealed lately will be infantry operated, with the unit inside taking a portion of the damage until it dies. Also, it'd be neat if Zealots could kill a gatling operator and then turn the turret on all his friends. :P

It'd be cool if they got special death animations, like Zergling could jump up on there and maul the operator to death... But that wouldn't ve very SC-ish, belongs more to DoW.

This topic needs to be stickied just for laughs.

And I wondered what Terran Civilians were used for.

We should write to someone in Blizzard, and request some serious changes to take place!

1- Remove the human dolls from above of the Missile Turrets' new model: it's probably them the cause of their loss of detection ability;
2- Redesign the Nomad: it's really ugly and strange. Plus, I don't see much point in an instant recovery of a ship. Even if it's a Science fiction, it has to make sense! How can they instantly replace a damaged hull using energy but no material?!
3- Redesign the terran avatars shown, like the SCV's and the general structure. How come their technology decreased from the first Starcraft to this one? The lady should be better looking and less robotic. And that worker guy is just plain annoying.

psh the missile turret guy is awesome. they were in starcraft 1 and those had detection.

I agree with Paragon, anyway blizz will probably release how it repairs the hull when it officially releases the Nomad.
