ok people, here is a good terran trick.
the new command center can carry 5 scv,s right.
then in the start of the game, put all you scv,s in the command center and move to a remote or easy defended location.
in other words, the terran can start enywhere they want
do you guys think it would be a good idea to do so? ???

Umm... depends. I doubt map makers will make an area that's SO naturally well-defended that you would want to sacrifice early-game for it. And most likely after a couple games people will figure this out and we'll have both command centers (if its Terran vs. Terran) rushing for the same spot...
But uhh, it'd be nice if the maps were big enough so that changing positions could actually do something. SC maps were pretty small, you'd get found out in no time.
If I'm playing against a Terran, I'll be sure to scout asap just in case they pull of this strategy. Because if I don't find out before hand, they will be in my base with Tier 3 units while I might be planning for a Zealot rush (which would fail completely if they decided to land it on an island). :-\

I think this could be a practical strategy, but almost totally dependant on the command center's movement speed, as welll as the type of map. If it was an island map, it would be pretty effective, and even more so if the map had a few islands but wasn't an island map completely. Although if you're too slow with it, your enemy might have a fleet of Warp Rays and a Mother while you're getting up your first factory.
I'm eager to see the new Command Centre's movement speed and how fast it will actually be. 1up mentioned that building during liftoff travelled a lot faster. I'm just wondering if the extra speed would indeed, help out some new stats available for the Terrans in SC2.
Prime and Wick are right. It really depends on how fast can the Command Centre fly. And it also depends on the type of map it is on. If the Terran player doesn't know the map well enough, then he/she can spend LOTS of time trying to find ''the perfect starting location''. While the enemies tech up fiercely and will be way ahead of the terran player. Or if there's 4 terran players on the map, then all of them might try to squeeze into that starting location and will cause some serious trouble. So it depends on the situation. Sometimes it just might work (start in a chunk of gold minerals)

What about this command centre trick: You upgrade planetary fortress and fly a couple of upgraded command centres into the battlefield, they should wreck some havoc backed up with other units.

I don't think planetary fortresses would be that strong, and they probably won't be able to fire while airborne. They'll be too expensive to be used only that was as well, when you can get units that do the same thing, but better.

I was thinking the same thing the first time. I think the planetary fortress also gets some more hp or armor or something I forgot. The whole idea of moving to a new place at the beggining of a map is wierd. I don't think any player would waste time moving a comand center to a new location so the oponent will get thrown off. You could have just done the same thing in Starcraft I except you had to make your SCVs walk instead of stay in the comand center.

In Loss Temple you can do the same thing (minus the SCVs). I betcha there will be a Starcraft 2 equivelent map of LT.

If you had enough room at your ally's base, then that would be a good tactic.

Yeah but then you would have to share the minerals.

Yes, which makes it a terrible idea. Sharing is only viable on money maps, and money maps suck.

Lol. A map with nothing but 50000 minerals each lol. No building space.

Sharing is not even good in moneymaps, since once you liftoff you cant land by the minerals again and have to land away, like in normal games.

I think that your loss during the early game would counteract the advantage of changing starting points, but it all depends on how fast cc moves

It was probably just a time period that was shortened so that the Terran demo could play faster, but did anyone notice how fast the Command Center actually transformed into a Planetary Fortress? It was maybe, three seconds. I fear that if this doesn't change, people will just expand early game, and build fleets of Command Centers, fly them where they need to attack/defend, then land and PF 'em.

they were probably just using the fast build cheat. no one wants to see a demo with 2 minutes of watching a CC upgrade. same for the sensor dome.
anyways, unless the map happens to have some perfect place to land, it wouldn't be worth it. all that time that you could be gathering spent flying around

I remember considering doing this when playing at BlizzCon. One of the maps is essentially LT, and it would have been perfectly reasonable to lift and fly to one of the islands. Terran buildings move a bit faster than they did in the original, so it is not too impractical to lift and relocate. The main problem is that oftentimes, the places you relocate to don't have enough room to build a full base in.

Command center is a best thing to use for the Teran Dominion once somebody attack your scv.
