Starcraft cinematics

Throughout the campaigns, Each race has at least two movies that span a few minutes length, to spice up and diversify the action from its same ol RTS self.

Having only played up to the sixth or seventh protoss mission on the orignal (no BW sadly) so far i have to say the protoss have the best ones. I didnt like the Zerg movies very much, they just didnt cut it for me. The Terran however, was downright hilarious at points (I love you sarge.... Sarge: Huh? AAAHH) and at the same time, concluded excellently. (Mengsk speech, the bastard). The best so far (or one I liked the most) were the protoss movies. The first one was humorous in the "Oh shnaps,run!" with Tassadar while the second one was just as good in that sense, plus you can see how >< the Terrans can be :P

So, what do you think? Do any stand out paticularly? Or are all three excellent in thier own ways?

I recall the Protoss as having the best movies as well. They just had this enigmatic/mystic quality to them all. Although I did like the fight on the science vessel quite a bit for the Terran one. That one was very moody and well done.

I think my single favorite movie would probably be the Protoss ending in BW where the epic battle took place on the Xel Naga temple.

Protoss in my opinion had the best in-game cinematics as they always displayed an epic event. Take for example, Fenix's lost to a Zerg Hydralisk and the merging of the Khaydarin and Uraj crystals on Shakuras.

definately the terran, i love the whole hicks in space thing.
zerg has the worste, just because their units looked horrible :P

I find the Protoss ending cinematic for SC the best where Tassadar sacrifices himself so he can destroy the Overmind... tragic

I think the Protoss have the best movies cause they are all showing heroic deeds and such except the Terrans have the funniest and the Zerg are kinda...odd.

The only one i liked was the beginning one where all those terrens were slaughtered by the zerg. and at the end you see the 2 marines in a trench and like 50 zerglings run after them.

That's so hardcore when the guy is screaming in terror and agony as the hydralisk if ripping out his guts through the power suit then the firebat starts flaming them both and you see the guy's face on fire and the hydralisk doesn't stop tearing away...and then the guy shoots those two missiles (have you ever seen a missile fly so slowly through the air?) and toasts those two zerglings

my favorite one, though, is the one with the terran scouting post that shoots a huge missile at the wounded dragoon :'( and then a jillion dragoons materialize and an arbiter flies overhead

The Amerigo was just awesome. "Thank god for cold fusion."
Although Tassadars sacrifice was pretty awesome. One of the most powerful movies, i'd like to claim.
Of all movies, these three rank highest:
1:BW Intro (Aka "Are you prepared to go all the way with this, Alexei?")
2:Tassadar's Sacrifice (Aka "Ffwoooosshhhh *zap* dead bug brain")
3:The Amerigo (Aka "Thank god for cold fusion")

Terran are the funniest and probably the most intresting. The protoss always seemed a bit sterile in their cutscenes. The terran make things personal. The zerg are just creepy, no body likes them. "They are worst song, played on ugliest guitar."

Mayb be the worst song on the ugliest guitar, but they sooo have the best ingame music. I'm not even talking about Radio Free Zerg either.


I do like Kerrigan's end movie. It's kinda cool.

i have heard radio free zerg i think, but where did you hear it in-game? and what guitar? am i missing something on a secret cinematic or is this just my anti-zerg bias popping up and blocking my memory of zerg cinematics?

You hear it in game when you type in "radio free zerg" as if it were a password. I believe it only works if you are actually playing as zerg. Anyway, you hear this funky tune and it's... I guess pretty amusing.

Yeah...especially since I had enough forces (when I completed the mission) to completely flatten the Overmind the rest of the way without Tassadar's trick.

for some reason i loved the terran propoganda vids, protoss ones are the best no buts and some zerg cinematic i liked like the last zerg cenematic with kerrigan. My favourite one has to be the Protoss one with the Xel'naga temple. Followed closely by Terran Amerigo one (beer in the box with the bombo :P + The cold fussion quote)

My favorite one was the scene where Fenix's blade runs out and the hydra comes...
I was like.. "NOOOO FENIX!"

and then he comes back as a dragoon, which is pretty sick. I hope he comes back in SC2 as an immortal or something else cool.

whats with the buggy track and the "present" world look. pistols? come on! you got to be kidding me. and that puny tank in the wasteland plus the background music... hahaha. not bada$$ now.

now, i wanna see the thor. the single trailer of starcraft 2 owns all cinematics of the original. ^^

Actually...the one cinematic that I absolutely loved was the one with Stukov and DuGalle on the Battlecruiser...that gave me chills and sudden wish to be Russian ^_^

Hmm i really want to see a pheonix overload ability in a cinematic it would look absolutely stunning. Also a cinematic with siege tanks and immortals (like to hear the panicking terrans WHY AREN"T THEY DYING WHT AREN"T THEY DYING??) And a Colossus walking over cliff to a unexpecetd terran base :P

Nice ideas, MyWifeforAiur. Here's my wishlist of cinematics:

1. I actually wouldn't mind seeing like a group of stalkers blinking back 'n forth to take down a Thor.
2. A ghost sniping something, ANYTHING.
3. Dark Templar sneaking up on a marine and doing his ninja thing.

Hmm seeing a cinematic of a zergling swarm might be interesting (locust swarm feeling) or a cinematic showing zerg mutations (eg zergling into baneling) that would be cool

The Ambush = a Protoss Cinematic
The Amerigo = a Zerg Cinematic.

Both have terrans in them, but both are actually in the cinematic sections of the other races.

My favs are in this order

# 3 Mensk's coronation speech
# 2 Tassadar's Sacrifice
# 1 Kerrigan's Victory at the end of Brood War. (What is the line? I am unbeaten, but not unscarred)?

Both of the ending protoss cinematics are number 1/2 because both times they are on the edge of defeat and come back with massive explosion slaughtering thousands of zerg. Showing why they should be feared after getting beaten a ton of times by both the terrans and the zerg. Number 3 has to be mengsk's inaugeration speech watch his fleets demolish the confederates and the Battlecruiser using yamato and just vaporising the other bc and on top of that his speech is pretty good also.
