Awww, beat me to it. I love the animations for the Ghost, from the tiny glimpse the new Siege Tank is hot. There's more detail on the Marines, look much more grittier. The Viking transformation animation looks great too, but I keep getting the feeling it was WAY too influenced by Eastern culture, I mean look at the concept art, they might aswell sell it to Hasbro and make a new Gundam toy or something.
Good view of the siege tank in the Marine section, and a deployed view of it in the Ghost section.

I love the Ghost, and I REALLY like the grid display for structure landing as well. I think the new siege tank is definitely an improvement over the older one, especially when in siege mode. I swear, this is one of the most exciting days ever.
Oh, and has it been stated whether reapers can attack air?

@ DW i know. ive been told that it needs to be changed. but then i also hear blizzard employees in interviews saying how a races units change weekly. so im not jumping to any conclusions. and carriers will probably be changed, it would still be safe to say RIP old carriers. or if nothing else, RIP 2-D carriers.
edit: @ judicator, no, those are still tempests.
Go to the viking one and look closely at the in game footage you will see a quick flyby of a lake and shows some water effects.

I personally like the new look of the siege tank hell its 10x better than the last look at the very least :thumbup:
Also look to the edge of the screen just right of the unit selection bar you will see two different icons and 1 leads to terran page the other to protoss so i can say these are the logos for each race (i think).

@ IO yeah, i noticed that. if you look at the features page, it shows a terran (possibly raynor) with the hawk insignia, and zeratul with the blue rune.
@ Donthate, there isnt one. theres a picture with some tempests.

man the reapers bio sounds so cool and crazy....they should have a reaper hero in single player it would make it interesting they kind of remind me of hellscream from wc2/3. Ghosts look really good too, in the previous pic of them they kind of looked cartoony robocop-ish, but seeing them in action sniping the marine changed my mind.
man it sucks being a zerg user being that it will be the last race to be unveiled ... oh well they better have something up their sleeve.

Also, the new marine shields in that pic look much better than the old medieval ones. And w00t!!!!11! to the BC having multi-fire, but it wasn't what I expected. I always thought those four horizontal things on the side were huge laser cannons, because they sure aren't engines. Perhaps Blizzard could space the laser ports out a bit, perhaps along the side or bottom of the BC. Either way, I still love the new BC. As someone said earlier, it's a real Battle Cruiser now, not some upgraded wraith.

Cept that those four things sure ARE engines. As in the old game and in this one you can see the exhaust and combustion coming out from behind them. That multi-fire will more than likely just be a tech to attack ground.

that's weird. in sc1 i am 90 percent sure they were engines.
There is also a giant tower building next to the cc in this screen http://www.starcraft2.com/screenshot.xml?29 i have no idea what it is but to answer afew questions the other building next to the cc is a nuke silo being placed.
Also the marine in the "briefing room" is indeed tychus (i don't know how to spell his name) as if one looks closely you can see a 435 number on the armor and in the cinematic trailer it also has a 435 on the armor which (along with the semi clothed female on the right side of the armor) would mean that this is indeed him but the other people are more confusing as "raynor" only has some resemblance to his artwork and i have no idea of who the other person is.

And T-Man. They are engines bro. I'm telling you right now. If not, they serve no other purpose. They dont shoot anything in SC1, and have yet to been shown shooting anything in SC2

heh, Judicator. Everyone agrees that it has engines. We were disputing minor cosmetic details. I contested that the multiple lasers should come from somewhere other than all at the front. At first, I suggested those four horizontal tube things, because I didn't think they were engines, due to a lack of exhaust. I included an image circling the engine exhaust in one of my recent posts. However, they do look like engines. Upon further reflection, I suggested that they move the laser ports (places the lasers come from) to the sides and front. Just so it's not like fifty million armaments in the front, and all wasted space along the sides.
At the risk of getting too Death Star-esque, they could even make the Yamato shoot from those side tubes.
Edit to Hadean: Heh, I'm not really arguing that they are lasers, just that I figured they could be, because they don't appear to be engines. The engines appear to be clustered at the back center of the BC.

Ahh, I see, and I agree.. although its awesome to have more guns, it really makes more sense to put them on the sides, not particularly on the 'wing' parts... Afterall if it is a bombardment weapon, it makes sense... But that also limits the range if the lasers stuck to the side, perhaps asthetic addon? Anyway.. still looks good.
EDIT: Anyone notice the red SCV in that picture with the BC's... or is that just me >.< :-\

I read the GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/starcraft2/news.html?page=1&sid=6176164) article just now and saw:

Perhaps the ground attack upgrade adds on those killer lasers to the front, while the air attack upgrade makes those side pods shoot :D
With specializing attacks, I could even say that the ground upgrade should place the lasers on the underside of the BC, so you can't even see the ports. It's more plausible to go blasting away Planet-Cracker style, but with individually fired lasers, than to depress those forward mounted doo-jiggers to the floor.
While I'd prefer to have omnipotent BCs (not ground-only, or air-only), it does add definite strategy and new graphics ideas.
What I'm really wondering, now that multi-targetting is not limited to the MS alone, is how they will manage the attacks. Say, if you attack-move, the AI targets individual units, but if you focus fire on a single unit, all of the lasers depress and BLAM! It'd be awesome if there was some way of telling a BC to target four specific units, but that's probably in the realm of WCIII 50 units, rather than SC 200 units.

that building is the shadow ops. its for ghosts, and where nukes are launched from (you can see one leaving it in one pic)
and those 3 buildings in your earlier post are munitions depots, for the Thor

I personally love the SCV avatar. Looks like a guy from the country or farmlands smoking a cig with a baseball cap, I think it fits the SCV well.
The marines are excellently designed as well. The highlight of Terran though definately has to be the Thor and Viking so far. I am excited to see what the Predator and Nomad will end up looking like.
The Nomad is ugly as hell.

Ghosts are a little too big
I don't like how cloak looks
The two new battlecruiser upgrades made me giggle... laser bombardment and that crazy torpedo (yeah torpedo, nobody mentioned that one here)
Medics look nice
The nuclear silo (shadow ops) looks ridiculous but still cool
The viking landing animation is cool
I'm glad command centers and other buildings lift off faster and move faster so they can actually have some sort of chance
The terrains are all cool - love how some of them are bottomless pits
Drop pods are cool - looks like 5 marines to a pod
New tank is cool but I wanna see it in action
I'm glad carriers are back in place of tempests

the siege tank (in tank mode) looks better than the siege mode. too bad we wont use the tank mode for attacking always, because who want to attack in tank mode if you got siege mode.
the tank mode looks really badazz, i hope they give the tank mode a little fire power so that we can use them often not only in siege modes. i hope siege mode will have true weaknesses too just so that we can see tank mode in actions. ^^
wow the screenshot with raynor and a marine plus a commander i think could be the in game cut scenes (cinemtic like) they were talking about. looks almost cinematic quality to me, i wonder if like we zoom in on raynor in gameplay we get the same look with that of the screenshot. heheh. kinda impossible, but i hope so.

Oh dear! After watching those videos, I noticed that we drastically mischaracterized those lasers coming from the BC. That massive laser barrage was the Plasma Torpedo ability. BCs now seem to fire a rapid-fire series of smaller bolts, but they all targeted the same unit. Hopefully Blizzard allows them to multi-fire like the MS.

@T-Man, I have my doubts on it firing at multiple targets. I think the BC for some reason for another has always been a unit that concentrates on firing at a single unit, and that Blizzard simply changed the aesthetic quality to fit our requests (thank you Blizzard.) But if they could hit all sorts of things, then they would be a lil redundant given the attack style of the Banshee and also too similar to that of the Mothership. I'm personally pretty happy with the way it is.

i have to agree with paragon but with one slight drawback, now that the battlecruiser has the ability to take on multiple units like a real capital ship should, will the yamato cannon go the way of the shuttle?
(i miss their smiling face)
with the ability to have an AoE i think that most people would research that instead of the yamato upgrade.
Yamato still remains with the bc and on a side note i think i know where blizzard got the name for the viking just go to the viking page on sc2 homepage and just scroll down to the very last line under the last screen shoot you will understand once you see it.

well yamato is still high damage 1 hit, and can hit air, while the torpedoes can only hit land and do less damage spread out. so yamatos will still be opted for.

Still unsure how I feel about Marines with shields. Seems odd to be lugging those around a battlefield and holding a rifle at the same time...
Welcome to the forums Tibalt[terranz]989.
I think you will go through a month of uncertainty, indecision, and inner struggle, then just accept the shield in the end just like the rest of us.
And defilers were the bomb and extremely crucial at higher levels of play. Defilers were definitely not one of the more underused units in SC1 overall, considering the fact that they're tier 3.

i heard somewhere that reapers were the weakest terran unit and they're really cheap, so i'm not sure massing them will do much good against bigger units. Also, i think they should be called "mauradors", the old marine name in the beta.
Also... i heard they were also made at the "merc haven" but in the website it says they're created at the barracks..

cheap as in they cost 50 minerals, 25 gas, 1 food, and build in literally 2 seconds.

Why merc haven? They arnt mercs, they are convicts. Should be a prision or something of the like.

Damn, I went on vacation right when Blizzcon started so I'm waaaaaay behind. But anyways, I think Reaper rush could be a viable tactic. Build 2-3 Merc Havens and pump Reapers from them. 12 Reapers in two seconds. It would be a great worker hunt.

I dont like the idea of reapers being recruited in a mercenary bar. Reapers are supossed to be the most bad ass convics of the galaxy (sys blizzard), they are taken straight from prision from brutal training in dontrememberwhere, not recruited in a cantnina...
I thought that was what a marine was...

i agree. the merc haven is plain silly and CRAP. change it. a high facility recruit center or something is better. the bar is a JOKE. it sucks and funny. and starcraft is not a joke.

I like the idea of a bar. Where do you purchase hardcore reapers that have already been trained and your not an official military commander? The bar, of course, after you buy them a round of drinks.
