If Blizzard made SCII, will there be WCIV?

Well, SC is 11 years old now. WCIII only 8 (?), but will they make WCIV? Or is the series over? And consider WoW II.

I really, really hope they don't make a Warcraft IV. It ended at Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne, and that's where it should stay. When people hear Warcraft now, they think of an MMO. And, that is where most of Blizzard's ( Warcraft-related ) income is from, anyway. They've made far more off of World of Warcraft alone, and will continue to do so in the years to come. Warcraft III was a great game, but it was far, far too different from what I grew up with as a child ( Warcraft II ). I'd be worried if they did decide to make a Warcraft IV installment, because of the current World of Warcraft fanbase, and the things they would do to stretch the story even further. Besides, think of all the key figures we've lost in World of Warcraft alone?

 

Lore would have to be completely reinvented and i don't think blizzard would be able to pull off the gameplay and story right, WoW would hang all over the game and i just wouldn't be overly optimistic of it.

WoW II is definite though, or at least WoS. They need it for advanced graphics. They will probably advance the story as well.

 

The question is, where can the story go after killing off every antagonist?

World of Warcraft was not designed with future installments in the franchise in mind

easy, they can just say that WOW is a alternate reality in the Warcraft series. then you got all your heroes that were slaughtered in WOW back and can go for whatever they want.

 

If you wanted to kill the wow story line, using Nozodrum would be a pretty effective way to do it (though it would probably be corny and obvious).

 

or they could remake the original WoW with better quests and graphics and maybe add some new storyline at the end(both WotLK and TBC have an actual storyline, though the TBC one is very weak)

The very nature of MMORPGs pretty much requires you to slaughter a lot of major figures, so it wouldn't change anything

Wouldn't work. Don't forget it starts with faction and class selection, not only who they kill.

 

well, with the undead and the BE in the horde has been dealt enough in WoW(especially WotLK), its pretty believable now

the horde has 2 lock races now, so they dont need the orcs

I agree the WoW storyline would probably have to retconned with some time thing or demon artifact.

 

I think the easiest thing they could've done is that instead of actually killing the major characters, they could've just made them run away once you got down to a certain amount of health

Perhaps make a million (exaggeration...) creatures and force the player's character to retreat from the onslaught of death, picking up loot at the entrance (since they have to run away from all the creatures). Or if the guy just opened a portal and goes through that to get away, then leaves a bag by accident, then you loot that. Or any other kind of thing for the boss to get away while you still get the loot.
