My Pets

So I had a Marine Ghost and Reaper...and they are gone.
Any idea what happened?

 

They got deleted, and that goes for everybody - all pets were removed and minerals reset as the shop was redone. Now you'll have to get them again just like everybody else.

 

I haven't bought one yet

In real life i have 15 pets

GMG was talking about the reset that happened months ago. Evidently Chax hasnt bought anything since the reset.

 

And the Lord said this thread shall be cast the the Shop board where it should have been made originally...

Jon and I were updating the shop and ran into one ugly error that we didn't catch until it was to late. Before updating the shop we backed up the shop DB just in case the update deleted it. The update did in fact delete the DB and when we tried to upload the backups we found that the most recent backups (including the one that was just made) were unusable. Right now Jon is in the proccess of trying to restore what he can, but it's likely the shop will be restored to late December/early January.

How exactly would the backup not work? The file should be the same as the shop.




...and I was almost done collecting all the zerg pets I wanted too....

 

Is a complete shop revamp out of the question? I mean, kuvasz was about to update all the pet pics anyway. Would anyone be strongly opposed to starting over?

 

Well considering the December/January stuff is also toast (I spoke to soon in my previous post) that appears to be whats going to happen anyway...

You can blaim the plugin. Anyways I am trying to figure out if there is any systemic way to give members some minerals for their recent contributions.

I told you vB was trouble, but no one pays any attention to BoP. Just because he hasn't shaved in a few weeks and screams "the end is nigh" doesn't mean he lacks credibility.

It seems we could jsut redo it? and what exactly was the problem? I'll help if need be, ofc.

 

The problem I guess is that the information is gone/corrupted. That means that there isn't a way to know what each member had as pets, or what amount of minerals everyone had. If this is true, then the shop would likely have to be redone practically from scratch.

 

Well this has pretty effectively made me and Jon question the usage of vBplaza and start looking around for something else. I have found something I like and hopefully if we can get it to work we can offer several things that weren't and couldn't be offered on the SMF forum. For now though the shop should be considered indefinetly closed pending testing of other potential plugins as well as the reconstruction of the pet DB. Once there is more than a glimmer of a chance for a switch I'll provide more details.
