Judging from the poll results found here, the shop will be reset and completely revamped. So, I thought I'd create a thread dedicated to suggestions as to how the new shop should work, what kind of features would be welcomed by the community, and possibly to give ideas to Jon on how to setup the new system, if it's possible.

What I would like to see is a lot more profile upgrades for sale - ability to:
    - set an avatar
    - set a signature
    - colour usernames
    - change usernames
    - get a personal notepad (one we had back at SMF)
    - set a custom title/rank
    - ability to use BBCode

    Continue automatically giving minerals for:
    - after profile visits (1)
    - after posts and threads (after characters in posts, but not after # of views)
    - after reputation points and thanks
    - referrals

    Do not give minerals for:
    - number of friends/contacts
    - basically everything else we got minerals for until now

If we keep the suggestions sensible, this thread could be a good source from which we could help achieve a balanced and fair shop system.

I think selling a name change/color name/custom title are all good, but the rest is just wrong. Why the hell should I pay to get something as basic as changing my freaking avatar?? tone down the capitalism please.

These should IMO be free. And actually be there in case of notepad >.>
Maybe pay for using HTML, but not BBCode

GM, other forums have that, and obviously the price would be something that could be got from like 10 posts or something.

Meee, I very rarely see posts that have BBCode in them, which is why I suggested it. Selling HTML will not happen because it can be exploited.

So just because it's not used much you want to discourage it even more by putting price on it?

For the sake of filtering out adbots and people who just register to... well, ad. And also to give you that feeling that you upgraded your profile to the next level, I guess.

You'll learn when someone sets a huge **** as an avatar.

I think we should have the ability to purchase a slightly bigger avatar :3

Then have avatar available after a number of posts (10-20?), there's really no reason to make people pay for something available pretty much everywhere for free.

I didn't think that was possible, hence my suggestion.

I don't like getting minerals from profile visits. Direct activity should be rewarded, not passive fame.

I'd like to see frames return. About 3 per race (like before I guess). Custom titles (or a list of titles to choose from) would also be cool, either bought with minerals or unlocked by post number.
I don't like the current titles because they feel race specific (Admiral - Terran, Praetor - Protoss). There should ideally be 3 different ones to choose from at any given time, one per race. Atleast for the highest ranks.

    ^agree with frames and titles.

BBcode should be free, but maybe unlocked after a certain number of posts to stop adbots, paying should be for stylized changes not simple conveniences .

Allow me to purchase avatar capabilities of greater than fifty by fifty pixel images!

Depends on what you mean by direct activity. Taking it literally I'd ask why a geek with no life should get the moniez. If you meant posts, that makes as much sense as profile visits because there's a ****load of spam here as well as nonsensical posts that just go around and round a single idea - definitely not worth giving minerals for.

How's this: have trustworthy and active people have a privilege so that they can vote on posts but can't see if posts have been voted on by others. Each vote would give the poster ~20 minerals. Would work very similar to thanks, but probably become more useful, especially in filtering out spam. Could be monitored by global mods to avoid cheats.

I think he is basicly saying a hidden version of the thank system that is encouraged to be used more often as a primary way of giving out minerals.

Yes, and it would replace the automatic system of giving minerals after words or characters, hence only true contributors would be rewarded. The downside of this is that the system would need quite a lot of these voters because everyone's active in different boards and are online at different times. But so long as there's a simple button like the rep now but without needing to comment, it should take as little effort as to make all the voters use it regularly.
