    "Ghost character"

Who wants to take bets on how soon fanmade SC:G games crop up after release?

Echoing RHStag, I hope they include a ton of tutorials for the editor.

    Thinking excercise:

    - Suppose someone makes a really great game based on SC: Ghost.
    - They want to publicise it over B-net 2.0.
    - It needs to get approved by Blizzard.

Fact: SC: G has never been officially canceled, only delayed indefinately.

    - Blizzard sees your game and is like 'Hey, this is wonderful! Let's hire this guy to work on the real SC: G. '
    - Your game won't be shared on B-net in order to 'not spoil it'.
    - Hence no great SC:G game with the SC2 editor.

    - Suppose you make a SC:G game which is absolutely terrible. They'll sue you for using their IP.
    - Hence no terrible SC:G either.

    - Verdict: No SC:G games.

NB. I'm thinking way to abstract.

If its anything like the Wc3 editor, there will be a disclaimer type thing on startup saying that anything you make is legally the property of blizzard anyway.

Yes but Blizzard is one of the most respectable, trustworthy game developing companies out there so something like stealing your maps and calling them their property doesnt really concern me.

I know; its a very bad move to take away what people have spent hours to create. I was just suggesting that there was no point in blizzard suing people for something that they legally own anyway.

i can only imagine how the good old games like cat and mouse, nexus D, hero wars, random unit wars, and etc will be played :D also wonder how those strip so in so games will be made lol...

cant wait for this game to come out.

Does this editor or galaxy language have functionalities that can link with mysql?

If so this would allow mapmakers to develop their own website with information taken from played games. Information can range from: Who won, kills, units used, etc...

The only thing we could achive this in Wc3 is through ghost bots. There are several dota ghost bots that tracks player scores. If this could be achived internally, Sc2 would open up a gigantorg economy...

    Wow, awesome!

I could definitely see some kind of CS-mod com out of this...like the counter-terrorists would consist of 1 Marine, 1 Ghost, 1 Firebat, 1 Marauder and 1 Reaper. And the Terrorist group could consist of 1 Zealot, 1 Dark Templar, 1 Archon, 1 High Templar and 1 Stalker. And there could be a third group of "Saboteurs" that would consist of 1 Zergling, 1 Hydralisk, 1 Lurker, 1 Roach and 1 Infestor. The saboteurs goal would be to eliminate the other two groups. It would be a Free-For-All I think.

This editor looks almost as good as Chuck Norris.
And that's bloody amazing. Using a RTS map/creature editor to make a FPS or an old school space shooter? My that's amazing. I can really see Blizzard thought about the question "What do we need to do now to ensure thins game is still played 10 years after release like SC1 was?". And I think they are well on their way to answering this. All I can say is 6 months to discover all of SC2's content + fan made content? Not a chance. I bet after a year we'll still be finding new fan made gems and tid bits with the main game we have not previously found.

One minor aspect i found quite intriguing is that the baneling that were used as attacks were able to be attacked mid air and be killed (though following zerg philosophy masses of baneling prevails). So its much better then wc3 where using units as weapons just resulted in ragdolls or corpses. Gives me interesting mechanism ideas for games ... Wonder what sort of game modes people can come up with...
