Well, I have seen crappy network drivers do things like that in the past. I had a buddy who once would join a Unreal Tournament 98 game, and EVERYONE ELSE would lag because of him too! lol But after updating his driver he was fine (and most importantly, so where we!).

BlueStar, did you try the offline mode with single player?

There's so many people that get the stuttering thing, or there were in beta, that I sincerely doubt its anyone's computer. When I first started getting it, I thought, just to say I did, I'd get more RAM, defrag, and upgrade all drivers. Nothing.

Even on my buddies beasty machine with a RAID array, the game was hitching for him. I'd assume some of it is the SC2 engine and drivers needing to be improved. :/

I think there are WAY too many problems for this to be just that half the people who play SC2 have computers overheating.

If you can run a bunch of other games and you can't run SC2, then its Blizzard's fault. That's almost definite.

I'm not really sure of this, but I know there's been some mention of DRM in other threads and I know SC2 has some weird DRM. Some guy did a test of what they use for anti-piracy and confirmed that it could cause hard-reboots. I think it also might cause a lot of the mini-freezes that are so common. Again, I'm not certain because I don't work for Blizzard, but that's really what I would guess.

i updated directx june 2010 redist (we'll see if this does anything at all)
it's not unusual they would release an unfinished game

i came across something called ReadyBoost
i don't feel like explaining so read up yourself
i'm currently experimenting with it despite having very fast hard drive's (i did not disable my pagefile nor does it recommend too, this is not replacement but more of a supplement)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tomarcher/archive/2006/06/02/615199.aspx
so i'm using a 2GB sony memory stick duo pro via USB 2.0 with the sony adapter (i dunno if the adapter slows it down but when i researched this it said to give very good speeds)

Having more physical RAM is more useful than Ready Boost. I've tried it before and it didn't really help and that was considering I only had a paltry 2GB on my PC.

Then don't bother with Ready Boost. It doesn't really use the flash drive for page file. It just caches some data for oft-used applications on the flash so you don't have to wait for the hard drive to spin-up/seek when opening apps.

    don't think so
gpu-z reports high 60's degrees when playing sc2, fan speed gets to ~45%
when i run the final fantasy 14 benchmark it's mid to high 70's in complete smoothness, no stuttering, pausing and i even looped it

after playing sc2 for quite sometime i noticed no increase in performance or framerate, however i noticed a decrease in load times which is a good thing
for maximum performance i would recommend using a USB3.0 compliant port and a USB3.0 compliant memory stick (2GB minimum) which should make things lightning fast, however i got neither and i'm using USB2.0

Well, the way I finally fixed by buddies hitching on his 9800GTX was to lower the textures from ultra to high. the rest is on high. In theory is machine shouldn't run that well, but its a slick 30fps which is great, and it doesn't even seem to slow down with lots of units on the machine. You have better specs and should be able to go higher, but maybe try that out... :/ (he runs at 1680x1050 with it cloned to a freakn' 32in HDTV, smooth 30fps with the cloning on or off).

ReadyBoost is an interesting feature. You can just pop in a flash drive and turn it on threw the menu that pops up. It helps alot with loading apps like Word, etc faster if you use them alot, not sure what it would do for StarCraft II.

i'm pretty sure it's not my hardware
my video card is more than adequate
    i easily get a minimum of 30fps
i keep vysnc on to achieve 60fps cap
even though the 9800gtx and 250gts are the same card the 250gts is clocked higher and has the optional 1GB version
the 9800gtx+ on the other hand is the re-branded 250gts but only in 512MB configuration

i can tell when readyboost is working because the flash drive blinks
this off loads paging file from the hard drive to the flash drive which should allow the hard drive to run more efficiently and thus faster
starting up the game and loading maps is faster but other than that no in-game performance increase or decrease
    give it a try

i get this during single and mutiplayer but it appears randomly
i can play some sessions without incidence and others atleast once
my hdd light stays solid but i hear no activity and the sound freezes until it fixes itself
in multiplayer games it will lag everyone else until i stop
it's enough to make the game to come to a complete halt but not my computer itself
    i can still multi-task somewhat
