Starting WoW?

I'm confused..what happens if I download and play WoW now? Do I play in the 'old' world and when Cata launches suddenly I log in and everything will be different or...?

I'm planning on simply purchasing WoW, no expansions whatsoever.

Should I wait for Cata to launch and then buy WoW?

You can start with trial which is only normal WoW and see for yourself.

You play in the new "broken" world from Cata even if you only buy normal WoW, but you won't have access to all the races/zones/proffesions etc.

 

So if I start playing right now, I'll already be playing in the shattered world? There will be no changes when Cata releases? (for new characters)

 

Unless I'm missing something, yes. I started playing less than a week ago and played in the shattered world from the start.

I think I'll half forgive you for being a Horde just because warlocks are that badass.

 

When I see anything WoW all I see is warlock warlock.

I play warlock because imo it's the most fun. They're one of the best damage dealing classes when it come to pure numbers, yeah, but the thing is, there's so many different ways to do it.

In WoW, you have three talant trees that basically shape what kind of role your char plays. Examples: Paladins have a Healing tree, a Tanking tree, and a Damage tree. Warriors have a Tanking tree, a Damage tree, and a PvP tree. Warlocks, on the other hand, have a Damage tree, a Damage tree, and a Damage tree.

You wanna mess stuff up in three different ways? Warlock yo.

Plus it's one of the easier classes to pick up and play if you've never played before due to the fact that your level 10 (I think it's still level 10) minion summon makes a pretty decent tank until you get to higher levels, then you can just kill stuff.
