I've always wondered what this means.

"You call down the thunder.....and ill reap the whirlwind."

i think it goes, "You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind!" which makes more sense.

for thunder is just noise, or here it signifies that they started the war / battle

and the whirlwind part is more dangerous, signifying that now they are going to get it.

basically its almost the same as "i wont start the fight, but ill finish it."

did, and its not i'll, its either- now reap ..., or- will reap ...

for "i'll", does not fit at all in this metaphor

i guess it doesnt matter that much( i tried to find the spoken words, but only got the first part of it ), because it is mostly how you yourself construed it, and which ver. of words that you like, for me i like to have either the word "now" or " "will". because to me, no matter how i look at it, "I'll" doesnt fit.

oh, and... WELCOME TO THE FORUMS !!! We hope you have a pleasant time while you are here.

i just notice that you are new here.

lurks right....its a metaphor and "i will" doesnt quite fit in if you put "and" before it.

maybe "you called down the thunder, i will reap the whirwind" fits in abit better....but meh..i dno..

welcome to the forums btw. =]

Its definetly a metaphor but from there it depends on the person on how they interpret it. I personally always thought of "The Thunder" as a nuke and "The Whirlwind" as the aftermath of a nuclear strike.

It was originally used by the United States Air Force/Army/Marine corp for there air divisions (helo's, planes, mainly bombing planes)

You call down the thunder = Them coming, the helo/plane is the thunder

Now reap the whirlwind= Fear their airplane/helo.

It was originally taken from the US. Forces.

Siege tank also uses a phrase i think that is from the U.S. Army

It's not originally from USAF, but they're the ones who popularized it

Hmm, I was also told that it was used by Marine Corp Snipers. Idk if that is valid or not, i am talking to a few buddies who are in the service.

    I think ace is mad.

As in insane. Also, stop posting here unless you wish to discuss thunder and/or whirlwind reaping.

    Thank you
