I just installed SC2 on my freshly formatted computer. I have updated all the drivers including bios, directx and video. Games on low settings is still very choppy. The game defaults the settings on ultra which is very irritating to play on due to the lag. Single and Multi Player. Any help would be appreciated.

If you want to post specs, post your dxdiag. The text on that screenshot is almost impossible to read.

alt+print screen is your friend. It will just screenshot the currently active window.

Hmm, curious, have you tried playing the single player campaign offline as guest? With the number of people who have pretty decent PCs reporting they're experiencing choppy gameplay, I'm actually wondering if the connection to Battle.net is at fault...

I wish I had a decent PC to try test that theory on.

Try to play offline and see if it still happens. If it does, then sc2 is having problems with your hardware/software config. If enough people report these in official forums, they'll get fixed in upcoming patches.

Not the internet connection then. Probably some driver or weird compatibility issues, then. Your GPU or CPU aren't overheating, are they?

I think this is the nvidia overheating problem. There might be a new driver or an older driver or there's that framerate cap thing in variables.txt. Can anyone post that?

I tested this theory yesterday on my buddies machine, and his internet connection is via satellite (meaning SLOW and laggy). It did have random pausing all of the time, not just when connected to battle.net. :/

I tried the varibles.txt trick. Still no go. If it was a overheating problem wouldn't it do it on WOW and COD MW2? Those games run fine.

Not necessarily, not if StarCraft 2 isn't properly profiled into the nVidia varitable fan settings. I'd try something like Rivatuner and force the fan to 100% while gaming.

RivaTuner should support all nVidia based cards. I had no issue using RivaTuner with my EVGA 8800GT back in the day.

Well I installed real temp and core temp. GPU is running around 45oC under load but CPU is running 98oC under load. Kinda high. Both programs read the same. And my machine is dust free. Gonna reseat the heat sink after I get some arctic silver thermal compound. Let you know what happens.

At 98 your cpu should have down-clocked itself, which would explain why your game is choppy.

Temperatures over 90 is where processors burn. I don't recommend running games at all until you've fixed the cooling.
